Employee Fired For Not Accepting COVID Vaccine

Samantha Wise, an Arkansas mother of five, recently told KARK-TV she was fired from her job at Harvest Cannabis Dispensary when her supervisors became aware that she wasn’t planning on getting injected with a COVID-19 vaccine. Wise told KARK, "They actually did it — they really fired me — I didn't think it was really going to happen. I knew most everybody's names that came in there. I liked making people's day. That's my main thing in life is to just make people smile."

She explained that she has a history of experiencing adverse reactions to medicines, saying, "I am always that one out of every 10 or so that has a bad reaction. I am that one — so I would just rather not. I don't have good reaction with a lot of medicine."

She added that she wished her now former employer would have allowed employees to make their own very personal decision as to whether or not to welcome one of the emergency vaccines into their bodies. Instead, they were forced to choose between the vaccine and their job.

Harvest Cannabis Dispensary issued the following oral statement to KARK confirming that the dispensary is requiring all employees to receive a COVID-19 vaccination in order to protect customers:So, like, dudes…we are just acting out of, like, the gnarliest concern for our fellow potheads’ health, you know? I mean, how righteous is that, right? He, he…he, he. Dude, weed is wonderful, but, like, COVID is a bummer. We’re not trying to harsh anybody’s mellow or bogart their free will, but, like, we mean, the coronavirus is worse than bad bong water. So, we’re not going off half-baked here…tee-hee, snicker…we just want to make sure that everyone gets the chance to get fried without worrying about getting sick.”*

*Actually, that isn’t exactly how the statement from Harvest Cannabis Dispensary to KARK read. This was the writer’s embellishment. The real statement simply confirmed that the organization was requiring employees to be vaccinated to protect its customers.
