From an article in the St. Paul Pioneer Press
Sunday, June 29, 2014-page 1B:
" One of St. Paul's oldest Catholic churches is now home to an Islamic community center.
The Church of St. John parish was a home to East Side Catholics since 1886. But a dwindling congregation prompted its closure in 2013.
Sold June 20, the brick structure will become the Darul-Uloom Islamic Center and serve St. Paul's growing Muslim community".

North Korea: Releasing Film an "Act of War"
SEOUL, South Korea-
Thursday, June 26
North Korea has warned the U.S. government that the release
of a new American comedy about a plot to assassinate leader Kim Jong Un would
be an “act of war that we will never
tolerate”. An unidentified spokesman for North Korea’s Foreign Ministry averred
in state media Wednesday that if the
U.S. government doesn’t block the movie’s release, it will face “stern” and (my
favorite) “merciless” retaliation.
The movie ‘triggering’ these threats was
thought to be “The Interview” starring Seth
Rogen and James Franco as a producer and a talk -show host who land an
exclusive interview with the North Korean dictator and are then asked by the
CIA to assassinate him.
The spokesman
went on to say that the “reckless U.S.
provocative insanity” of utilizing a “gangster filmmaker” to challenge the
North’s leadership is responsible for “a gust of hatred and rage” among the North’s people and army.
SEOUL, South Korea-
Friday, June 27
North Korea fired three short-range ‘projectiles’ off its
east coast Thursday, just one day after it warned of retaliation against an
American comedy film (involving a plot to kill North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong
Un). These ‘projectiles’ flew
approximately 120 miles before landing in the ocean between North Korea and
Japan.
I hope an Obama
administration ‘spokesman’ or ‘spokeswoman’ doesn’t claim that “this was an
obvious and understandable reaction to this insensitive, rogue film”. (Since
this was a Hollywood film I think we’re safe in that regard).
It has become
commonplace now for terrorists to threaten to kill people and blow things up
every time an American-made film comes out that doesn’t portray them in a
positive, flattering manner.
Leave it to Kim
Jong Un to call a film-release an “act
of war”! Someone’s not getting enough
attention!
Men, corporate types, rich people, and Christians
-among others- routinely get mocked in movies, television shows and the ‘culture’
in general. In some cases they are even portrayed as evil. Or intolerant! Yet they rarely even defend
themselves.
Even our liberal
friends-to my knowledge- haven’t threatened to blow anything up or harm anyone
with the pending release of ‘Atlas Shrugged 3’.
In fact,
sometimes old white guys make fun of themselves.
How many times have you seen one wearing an “Old Fart” cap?
I’m guessing Kim
Jong Un doesn’t own one.

Obama Hits Climate Change Deniers
Obama hits climate change deniers
That was the
‘headline’ of the ‘news in brief’ article I came across in a local paper the
other day. Obviously I had to read it. Sadly, the headline wasn’t literally
true (so much promise there!), just poorly written. However, the short article
was still worth reading if only for its reporting of the attempted bon mot from President Obama
addressing graduates of the University of California, Irvine.
The president
said, “denying climate change is like arguing the moon is made of cheese”.
As analogies go…
this one was especially pathetic. Meaningless, nonsensical & childish. In
attempting to paint all whom he labels
‘deniers’ as complete idiots and morons ( stereotyping, generalizing,
profiling, judgemental hate-speech) he simply made himself look intolerant,
close-minded and foolish.
According to the
article the president then went on to say congress “is full of folks who
stubbornly and automatically reject the scientific evidence” and say climate
change is a hoax and that others duck the issue.
Talking about
‘climate change’ is an absurdity. The climate changed dramatically where I live
from yesterday to today. Sunny and warm yesterday, cloudy and cool today. My
God, it’s Global Cooling! We’re all doomed! It changed from this morning until this
afternoon. It’s changed alot from last
winter until now. If it keeps warming at that rate we’ll all fry by fall. Check
back with me in October.
I’m so sick of
talking about climate change. Culture change? Political change? Body change? Health
change? Diaper change? Hope and change? What the hell doesn’t change?
If time exists…and the physical forces
we believe in do as well… If electrons, neutrons and protrons do their thing
and if the term cyclical has any meaning … everything
changes (over time)!
Except liberals minds!!
Who ‘stubbornly
and automatically rejects the (overwhelming) evidence’ that free market
societies have done better than planned ones throughout history? Who
‘stubbornly and automatically rejects’ the fact that red states like North
Dakota and Texas almost always fare better than blue states like California and
New York? Who ‘stubbornly and automatically rejects’ the fact that Republican
governors typically reduce or eliminate budget deficits and increase employment
in their respective states after being elected to clean up after Democratic
ones?
And ‘ducking the
issue’? Really? You want to go there?
Benghazi?
IRS/Lois Lerner? Fast and Furious? The VA scandal? Etc., etc., etc.?
I won’t hit (man-made) climate change believers. Unfortunately, neither
will I (seriously) hope to change
their minds.

September 11th, 2014
September 11th, 2014- Washington, D.C.:
The Obama
administration announced today that in order to commemorate the opening of the
‘911 Mosque’ almost 2 years ago, it was officially designating this week to be
‘National Mosque Awareness Week’ (NMAW) in America. An administration spokesman
said that the President issued a proclamation earlier today that would pave the
way for many more Mosques to be built in/on historic places around the country.
“We will work with our brothers and sisters in C.A.I.R., among other groups, to
execute this vision in the next few years”.
“This
administration realizes that this is a time that calls for great sensitivity to
all, especially our persecuted ‘Islamic Insurgent Undocumented –Americans for
Workplace Violence’ (IIU-AWV)”.
“In a show of
goodwill, we are hereby ‘pre-approving’ the following sites for Mosques: Boston
Harbor, Lexington-Concord, Yorktown,
Gettysburg, Shiloh, Appamatox Courthouse, the Alamo, Wounded Knee, & Selma,
Alabama. And, of course, Pearl Harbor
will have one of the biggest Mosques in the country”.

Too Soft
I saw a young lad
wading near the shore of a local lake recently. He was wearing a helmet. The
kind hip bicyclists wear in urban renewal areas. How a helmet could protect him
in this endeavor I can’t say. Maybe his parents thought he might bump heads
with a trout. In recent years I've often seen older kids wearing bike helmets…even
those just riding slowly around their
cul-de-sac.
Safety is
everything now. I get it, I am a parent. The last thing I want is for any kid
(or anyone for that matter) to get hurt needlessly. But we have taken things so
far we are being not just feminized, but infantilized. It’s not just that we
are loathe to do anything that could get anyone physically hurt in any way, we
no longer wish to hurt anyone’s feelings. Or risk offending anyone somehow. And
it’s not just people anymore.
We no longer can
stomach disturbing an owl so we limit harvesting timber. If a single
snail-darter would be inconvenienced we will give up on hydro-electric power.
Peta would like to ban hunting and fishing (gathering will be next).
We pamper our
pets and put them in ‘spas’ when we are on vacation. We put ‘not for human
consumption’ on posters and packs of razor blades. There are some near-term
benefits but terrible long-term costs attached to this ‘cocoon-culture’.
Our softness will
be our undoing. Can you imagine the Revolution occurring today? Who would bear
the burden? Who would stand up and say what they meant, no matter the
consequences. Who would sacrifice life and liberty.
Who among us
today would’ve put their families and
their few earthly possessions into a Conostoga wagon and faced down various
mortal threats for months at a time, crossed the Great Divide and made it to
California to seek a better life? (Now people are leaving California en masse).
Any volunteers
for a reprise of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Exactly as they did it -on
foot -with the same provisions and the same risks? There are no Indians to
worry about now, but dang that Lyme Disease!
We haven’t been
back to the moon in decades. The future of manned space exploration is up in
the air at best. The space shuttle is shut down. Hell, it seems we can’t build
an extraordinary (many years ahead of its time) plane like the SR-71 Blackbird
anymore. The SR-71 photographed in high-resolution detail the entire area of
conflict in the middle east during the Six Days War. In 30 minutes. This
intelligence may have saved Israel as
they were fighting several opponents at once. This was 40 years ago. (Would we
even help Israel now?).
I wonder if
Orville and Wilbur ever got banged up. Were there ever any casualties in the
space program?
The economy is
suffering in part because we won’t drill or extract. Many individuals no longer know how to
do/build/fix things themselves. We won’t achieve at the level we did in the
past because we won’t take the risk. (“No risk, no reward”). All
organizations-public and private- will soon be comprised largely of these
non-knowing non-risk-taking but politically correct individuals. Robots. These organizations will be non-knowing non-risk-taking
politically correct entities. The only difference is the government will have
the ultimate power, as it will have
created a village of idiots that must be taken care of.
Might that be the
goal? It takes a Village…of Idiot’s…to vote for… me.
In truth,
computer technology and all things attendant to it are advancing rapidly. The
computers help us design things and solve problems. Computers are getting
‘smarter’ at a startling rate…just as we are getting dumber and weaker. We will
be dismissed-told to sit the rest of this one out-with the coming singularity.
Yet this isn’t
the most astounding result or aspect of our softness.
For all this
safety consciousness, we will do nothing to protect ourselves or our loved ones
from those who have repeatedly tortured, maimed and killed innocent human life
on a massive scale for years on end. Politically incorrect you know.
And now we
release five top Taliban members? Those who have-at the very least-aided and
abetted terror around the world?
I bet we issued them helmets as they left Gitmo.

Fast And Furious?
Signs of the U.S.’s growing weakness and incompetence now
come on a near daily basis.
The Obama
administration releases five top terrorists in exchange for…one U.S. deserter.
A headline in the June 19 St. Paul Pioneer Press (over an article by Craig
Whitlock of the Washington Post) reads “U.S. balks at flexing its muscle in
Iraq- too risky”. We want a
‘dialogue’ with Iran. We were stunned by Putin’s actions in the Crimea &
the Ukraine.
And recently we
learned that an American marine is still being held in a Mexican jail, nearly two months after being seized for accidentally
making a wrong turn and entering Mexico while carrying his service weapon.
Surely, demanding
Mexico release our marine isn’t ‘too risky’ for the Obama administration.
In fact, their
actions to this end should have been… ‘fast
and furious’.
Postscript:
The U.S. recently
detained four armed Mexican policeman for accidentally entering this country, but promptly returned them
to Mexico after 72 hours.

Culture Change?
An article (of
faith) in Slate magazine touted NASA’s claim that May 2014 was the warmest May,
globally, in recorded history. “El Nino-fueled ocean warmth is supercharging
the Earth’s temperature, which could help make 2014 the warmest year since human
records have been kept, and probably for
much longer”. Said article went on to
state that “NASA uses a baseline set from 1951 to 1980 to determine how much a
month’s temperature deviates from normal”.
1951-1980? To
paraphrase the Church Lady from old SNL skits, “Isn’t that convenient?”! The
60’s and 70’s were so cold, scientists were penning articles about how Global
Cooling was going to dramatically change
the planet as we knew it.
What if we chose
the same 1951 to 1980 period as our baseline to illustrate culture change? Let’s see, we went from ‘Father Knows Best’,
‘Bonanza’, ‘Little House on the Prairie’ & ‘Welcome Back Kotter’ as popular
television shows during this period to ‘Real Sex’, ‘Californication’, ‘Jackass’ & ‘2 Broke Girls’ today. How
much of a deviation from normal is
that?
This article
closed with the statement, “On our current path of minimal attention,
scientists say warming…could have devastating effects (by the year 2100)”.
Culture change
will have devastating effects long before then.

A Woman's Right To Choose
A Woman’S Right To Choose
You fascist hatemonger! Intolerant bastard! How dare you try to take away a woman’s right to choose??!
You fascist hatemonger! Intolerant bastard! How dare you try to take away a woman’s right to choose??!
Yes…quite.
Just as she can choose to walk around naked in a
Walmart (well, maybe in San Francisco), take a crap on Nancy Pelosi’s shoes, or
go 80 miles-per-hour in a 35 miles-per-hour zone. (And none of those necessarily
hurt- let alone kill anybody).
She can choose to smoke crack whilst pregnant.
Why would that upset anyone? Just gettin’ an early start on the abortion for
cripes sake!
She could choose to rob a bank or club a few
hundred baby seals to death. So what?
Certainly she can choose to have 8 or ten drinks and get in her car and try to drive home. It's her damn right to do whatever she pleases with her body. Who could deny that?
Certainly she can choose to have 8 or ten drinks and get in her car and try to drive home. It's her damn right to do whatever she pleases with her body. Who could deny that?
She could choose to join the Tea Party or question
global warming. OMG…I’m sorry, that was over-the-top, uncalled for, I know!
A woman’s right to abort her kid must be in the
constitution somewhere. Bill of Rights? Eleventh Amendment…how many were there
again? It must be a positive right
amongst those silly negative ones, the
ones the government can’t deny you because they are ‘endowed by our creator,
yada yada yada’. The right to life,
liberty and the pursuit of happiness. (Odd, I don't remember the right to prevent life, even after it's started).
Funny, babies are
the ultimate minority, helpless and poor. Just how liberals like them. Hasn’t
earned a cent yet. Yet they call them ‘fetuses’. Hey, labels… disable. Perhaps a need for
‘sensitivity’ training?

One Man...In The Name Of Love
America had always been about hope. And liberty.
Personal,
constitutionally enumerated rights, limited government. You own your property,
your body and its labor. Government
can’t arbitrarily, capriciously take it away. This made us unique among
nations. And it led to unique results.
For most of 200
years the country believed it could do anything. For most of 200 years, it did.
Problem? Bring it on! Here’s a solution! We’re not talking about perfection, no
mythical utopia or Heaven on Earth.
We’re talking
about real problems wrestled with by real people.
And the answers
they came up with were some of the most beautiful and profound ever crafted by
man.
The Declaration
of Independence (freedom from a
repressive, unrepresentative government),
the Emancipation Proclamation, the Marshall Plan, etc.
“Ask not what
your country can do for you…ask what you can do for your country.”
“Let all nations
know, whether they wish us well or ill, that we will go anywhere and pay any
price in defense of freedom!” Duty. Honor. Country.
And
then…something happened. Some things happened. Did they ever.
Berlin Wall, Sputnik, Kruschev…missile
crisis…Bay-of-Pigs.
Cold war. Bomb
shelters.
Vietnam. A
protracted ‘partial’ but terrible war, run by committee. No total commitment.
Cities burning. Riots. Race riots. Looting. Finger pointing. Lies. Kent State.
JFK, MLK, RFK…assassinations. Doubt, guilt, embarrassment, loss. Recession, gas
lines, OPEC.
My God.
Troops coming
home now. Some of our own spit on them. We abandon our friends. Desperate hands
slowly losing their grip on the last helicopter out. First loss. Shame.
Wage and price
controls? W.I.N.? Watergate, resignation, pardon. Recession. Malaise! Billy
Beer, 15% interest rates, 11% unemployment, inflation in the teens! A new word
must be coined for something thought impossible/oxymoronic…STAGFLATION.
It’s over. It’s
really over. A great run by a formerly
fine little country with a formerly fine little experiment, but obviously we
are truly to be left on the ash heap of history. America is essentially
finished thought some in the intelligentsia. Many (most) ‘only’ thought our
best days were behind us.
Hostage Crisis,
444 days and for the first time America has no effective response when its own
are taken prisoner by a foreign nation. Disgrace. Weakness. Indecision. Guilt.
World mocks.
Russians march. Markets down. Despair. Even the Statue of Liberty seems to
shine less brightly. “Give us your tired, your poor…?” Hell, we’re tired and poor!
Nuclear winter.
Global cooling. Silent Spring. Apocalypse Now. My God, there is no way out of all of this!
Where could the nation…the world…turn for inspiration?
Into the void
strode one man, brashly declaring it to be, “Morning in America.” HUH?
He was right, as
he made it right. The promise of a
renewed America. Delivered, like almost all the others. Is this a politician?
Hostages on the way back home during
the inaugural. ("Ronald Reagan is president of your country now? O.K., back you
go now, all big MISTAKE. Have nice trip, going to miss you, kiss, kiss!)”
The largest and longest economic expansion in American
history. The seventeen ‘Fat Years’ that the Clinton administration benefited
from. Interest rates and unemployment rates plummeted with the tax rates. So
did inflation. The American Dream…restored. People in houses again, not
doghouses. A new term had to be coined for a raging economy without inflation. “Reagan Rally” on
Wall Street.
The seventeen fat
years were proceeded by the thirteen anorexic ones. An incredible amount of
time in each case to decide what policies work and don’t work.
Call it like it
is…the “Evil Empire”. Say what you believe. You believe? Give the world clarity…and hope. “Mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall.’
America’s back.
Let all nations know. Back from the abyss.
A November night
in Berlin. A wall has come down. A terrible, stark, hulking, soulless wall.
Separating family…humanity…from liberty, hope, dignity. Freedom replaces
terror. Hope pushes away despair.
And a now former
president smiles. History should never forget what you did here…and will
remember what you said here.
When the wall
finally fell for President Reagan, and he went to that shining city on a hill,
much of America was in mourning.
President
Reagan’s legacy and beliefs are still here for us to follow, if we are wise
enough and true enough to our constitution, our history, and our soul, to pull
back from the new abyss we’re staring into now. An abyss of the soul. An abyss
of character.
Mr. President, if
we do follow your lead, perhaps it will forevermore be…”Morning in America” for
us…as it is for you. Thank you Mr. President, thank you.
POSTSCRIPT:
Ronald Reagan can
easily be argued to have faced one of the four or five most difficult sets of
problems to encounter any incoming president in American history, as I hope
I’ve just illustrated.
He won the
longest (Cold) war without firing a shot, turned a moribund economy around,
gave hope and restored pride to the American people and indeed much of the
world. Far from starting wars around the globe or nuking it out with the USSR,
he negotiated the first real nuclear arms reduction
treaties and hoped to eliminate nuclear arms entirely.
George Washington
could’ve been king, was the first president and had to chart a course. He set
precedents that would resonate throughout history and help define a nation. (No
pressure, LOL).
Abraham Lincoln
had to keep the country together…through
a civil war. “Could a nation so dedicated and so conceived long survive?”
Wow. To me, this is the toughest task any president has faced.
Franklin Delano
Roosevelt had an actual depression, as well as the Second World War to
entertain him. Financial institutions and the rise of communism in the country
were also concerns. Fortunately, he had a good and great buddy overseas. (As
did Reagan).
One can’t project
persons or presidents into different eras and situations and proclaim to know
exactly what they would have done or not done. And, of course, there is some
subjectivity here. However it should be quite clear that these are presidents
who faced some of the most daunting challenges in American history. Each of
them helped shape a nation by their bold and courageous leadership.
If ever a second
‘Mount Rushmore’ is created, here’s hoping that President Reagan’s likeness is
on it.
May they find a
mountain big enough.Tuesday, June 10, 2014
Global Warming?
Global warming
cannot be proved to be either permanent or caused by man. Period.
The last ‘ice
age’, ended approximately 10,000-12,000 years ago. Much of the northern part of
this country was covered by a mile-plus deep glacier. Up to thousands of feet
of ice-top to bottom-brought about by massive global cooling now melted and retreated
due to a massive global warming. This glacial retreat created the Great lakes. You may have heard of them. It created the
beautiful lakes regions of northern Minnesota and Wisconsin, Michigan and New
York. Wonderful resources. Without this global warming these areas would still
be uninhabitable (some say they still are in the bitter winter months!).
How could this
warming/melting have occurred? There were no factories, no internal combustion
engines. (There were no cows either, speaking of internal combustion leading to
gas emissions). No man-made greenhouse gasses. There was no United States! Who
the hell was to blame for this Global
Warming that gave us so much??!
In the last
800,00 years global temperatures have varied by approximately 12 degrees
Celsius.
Twelve Celsius! There have been repeated cooldowns and
repeated warmings.
The
supercontinent Pangea broke apart and the seven continents were eventually
created. To paraphrase President Obama, “we didn’t do it!”
Ice ages and ‘tropical
ages’ have come and gone, glaciers have formed and expired over the millennia.
“We didn’t do it.”
The big bang
happened. “We didn’t do it.”
The Earth was
created. “We didn’t do it.”
Life "occurred" and developed, and whether you believe in evolution or creationism, one thing
is clear. Say it with me now, “We didn’t do it!!”
“Post hoc, ergo
propter hoc?” Have you scientists and educators forgotten this cautionary
phrase?
It means, “After
this, therefore because of this” to
use the Webster’s New World Law Dictionary definition. “An illogical notion
that because one thing occurred after another, it must have been caused by the
first thing.”
I have eaten the
same thing (spaghetti) in the same restaurant three times in recent years and
arrived back home to find massive storm damage to my property. Uncanny. Hard to
believe. I’m not a big believer in coincidences. I never ate at any other
restaurant-spaghetti or not-in that time period and came home to storm damage.
Did I cause these storms and the
resultant damage by patronizing this restaurant?
Does global
warming cause global cooling? Does
global cooling cause global
warming? It would appear so if one looks
at the historical record.
Those on the
left-always believing us to be bigger than God, yet lesser than animals, may be
having an affect of their own.

Unilateralism...USA vs. BHO
Obama and the
left have for years now mocked the U.S. for supposedly taking unilateral action
around the globe. For acting like we’re better than anyone else. Even accused
the U.S. of bullying.
Remember after
911? The left screamed that we didn’t assemble a ‘coalition’ (incorrect) before
invading Iraq. Screamed that we had no reason to invade Iraq. Didn’t like
‘Gitmo’. “It’s no wonder people around the world don’t like us” (actually
jealousy more often than dislike) they stated. Didn’t think we sought input
from enough parties. Barely even recognized some nations. Let’s talk. Let’s
consult. Let’s be open and transparent. Let’s not act like a know–it-all! We
aren’t better than anybody else.
Obama came into office and made a point of
being indiscriminately nice to everyone around the world. Dictators, kings, thugs. Bowed here, kow-towed there (except
to our key allies like Britain and Israel of course). Didn't work.
Yet when he wants
to do something domestically now that he is in power, especially not having to face the
voters again, he does what he wants. Period. To hell with the constitution!
Screw consultation with those idiots! Input from these clowns? No way. “Guess I
forgot to check in with congress
again..tee-hee”.
He is a true
unilateralist. Not representing one country, but representing one person. Himself- and his beliefs. He has used his enormous and accruing power boldy
and often- without regard for the constitution, the rule of law, tradition or…
decency.
The man who didn’t
like America to act unilaterally abroad has
‘fundamentally changed America’.
He has done it
grievous and perhaps irreparable harm.
Unilaterally.

Hot Air
“The Hot Zone:
U.S. Corner Pockets” is the title of an article in the Thursday, June 5, 2014
Minneapolis Star Tribune reprinted from the Associated Press. It is under the
Star tribune’s science heading. The Associated Press analyzed National Climatic
Data Center temperature trends in the lower 48 states The article profers that
all but one state in the union has warmed since 1984. I find it amusing that
the only state that they claim has actually cooled in that time frame is North
Dakota. The state that has most dramatically expanded its extraction/energy industry.
The article goes
on to quote a ‘climate scientist’ at Texas Tech University in Lubbock as
saying, “heat and drought are a vicious cycle that has been hitting the
Southwest hard in recent years.” The
southwest didn’t have heat and drought and even deserts before that? The
‘Desert Southwest’? No Death Valley? I remember watching westerns… also Wile E.
Coyote and the Roadrunner. Cactus and sand. Cactus and sand.
But the last
paragraph of the article takes the chutzpah cake. Makes my job easy. Could just
copy and paste direct from the newspaper, but for copyright restrictions. More and more of those all the time.
The Southeast was
one of the regions that warmed the least according to the study.
According to this
article, Michael Mann, a Pennsylvania
State University Professor said, by way of explanation, that in the Southeast
and mid-Atlantic, “industrial sulfur particle pollutants from coal burning may be reflecting sunlight, thus countering
heating caused by coal’s carbon dioxide emissions”.
So what he said
is that pollutants from burning coal are counteracting the affects
of…pollutants from burning coal!
Yet we still must
spend ourselves into oblivion to stop global warming or stop using coal as an
energy source altogether.
This is what it’s
come to? These are our top scientists and educators?

Iran Asserts U.S. Will Not Use Force
Iran Asserts U.S. Will Not Use Force
Tehran, Iran – Speaking from a stage decorated with a banner
proclaiming “America cannot do a damn
thing,” Iran’s supreme leader on
Wednesday asserted that the Obama administration had taken the option of
military intervention to resolve conflicts off the table. “They have renounced
the idea of any military actions” he said.
This is from an
article in the New York Times reprinted in Thursday’s Minneapolis Star &
Tribune.
Apparently so. We
couldn’t even keep them from putting up that ‘damn’ banner. Perhaps we are in
negotiations to see if they would be willing to take it down. Maybe we could
release a few more insurgents from Gitmo.
The article goes
on to state that ‘the remarks by Khamenei…amounted to his first public reaction
to President Obama’s commencement speech last week at the U.S. Military Academy in which he asserted that the United States
has other ways of carrying out foreign policy besides military force. Having
the best hammer, he said, does not mean that “every problem is a nail.” ‘
I’m pretty sure
that every other president in our history knew this as well. But that doesn’t
mean you renounce the hammer or cut it out of your budget.
And what a
strange venue for Obama to make those remarks.
I am picturing
president Reagan addressing the Screen Actor’s Guild in Hollywood.
“There are other ways of entertaining people besides acting.
Having the best role-players doesn’t mean we should never be ourselves.”

best and brightest- better pull out all the stops to isolate that 1%-5% of our

designing the homo-sapien of the future we won’t ever have to worry about the
‘singularity’…there won’t be one.
