Snopes Fact Checks

Snopes Fact Checks

Unbiased and Trustworthy!

*President Biden said the coronavirus vaccine came about from his administration’s efforts.

Mostly true. Whereas he didn’t take office until well after the vaccines were available, he is on record as wishing there was one months ago. He apparently forgot he himself was vaccinated back in December while Trump-de-dump was still in office, but this is understandable, as he was very busy at this time, tirelessly toiling to figure out ways to erase the stain the previous administration left on the country…and the world.

*Former President Trump, speaking to CPAC, again claimed there was fraud in the past election, resulting in his loss.

Absolute. Effing. Bullsh*t. A million Pinocchios, as that august journal The Washington Post might say. These lies have been repeatedly debunked and are the sign of a disturbed, megalomaniacal individual. There is not a scintilla of evidence of wrongdoing, fraud, cheating, or anything other than the highest standards of ethical conduct surrounding the entire 2020 presidential election. Even Trump’s own Supreme Court repeatedly ruled that there was not a single instance of malfeasance to be found.

*John Kerry recently remarked to CBS News, "The scientists told us three years ago we had 12 years to avert the worst consequences of climate crisis. We are now three years gone, so we have nine years left.”

True. The science is settled. We would have had only nine years left…if our beatific Dear Leader, President Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., hadn’t courageously recommitted the U.S. to the Paris Climate Accord.

*Trump, at a White House History Conference in 2020, stated: "The left has warped, distorted, and defiled the American story with deceptions, falsehoods, and lies.  There is no better example than the New York Times' totally discredited 1619 Project. This project rewrites American history to teach our children that we were founded on the principle of oppression, not freedom."

False, false, false! The disgraced ex-president’s remark is itself marked by deceptions, falsehoods, and lies, slandering the glorious Newspaper of Record in doing so. The Gray Lady is a beacon of truth in a biased world where brutish, radical, right-wing thugs and white supremacists reign supreme. The history of the United States as taught in this country before the 1619 Project and other recent advances in historical thought were introduced to its schools was a shameful mix of misogynistic, racist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic crap. In short, a pack of lies. The plain, unvarnished truth is that all of the founders were domestic terrorists.

*House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently called the Capitol protest an “insurrection” and characterized House Republicans as the “the enemy within.”

Mostly true. Though none of the protesters were armed with guns, and only pro-Trump people were killed, including an unarmed female Air Force veteran who was shot in the head at close range, and no one tried to rest power away from Congresspeople…and no violent protests occurred anywhere else in the country…if the Democrats in Congress felt threatened, they were. Even the ones who weren’t in the Capitol building. Therefore, Speaker Pelosi was right to call Republicans “the enemy within.”

*Trump—again—calls various members of the mainstream (or legacy) media “fake news.”

Utterly, contemptibly FALSE. Trump is simply trying to sow division and doubt amongst the American people, by impugning the reporting—and motives—of the free and unbiased press that is the sole foundation of anything that has ever been good in America. Calling outlets such as CNN, the Washington Post—and Snopes, we might add—“fake news” is itself “fake news.” But, sadly, this is what we’ve come to expect from the portly Russian agent provocateur, who has time and again proven himself incapable of objectivity.
