Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Ripple Of Hope Award Winners For 2020

              This year’s Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Ripple of Hope Award winners reportedly will be former NFL quarterback and current radical social justice warrior Colin Kaepernick and infectious disease “expert” Dr. Anthony “It’s okay to swipe right even during the pandemic” Fauci. Kaepernick, America’s favorite America-hating mulatto, was the progenitor of the modern NFL’s run-pass option… and of national anthem protests. The 79-year-old Fauci, who first warned us not to wear facial masks before telling us we have to wear them, was recently named a candidate for People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” award.

              The organization’s president, Kerry Kennedy, recently issued a statement pertaining to the honors: “At a time when the courageous pursuit of equality and justice has become political and riddled with adversity, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights stands with these modern-day human rights defenders in their inspirational fight for progress. She added that, in 2020, the nation is “yearning for leadership, for moral fortitude, for common decency and kindness, and this year’s Ripple of Hope laureates give us great hope for the future. Their work for equal justice touches every corner of society, sometimes at a great personal cost. We are deeply honored to celebrate these changemakers, who have set forth countless ripples of hope at a time when our world is in such need of inspiration.”

              “Their work for equal justice touches every corner of society, sometimes at a great personal cost?” Are you kidding me? The essentially unemployed Kaepernick is making millions of dollars a year in endorsement deals and other lucre by continuously disparaging the nation in which he lives. The insufferable 79-year-old infectious disease know-it-all was just listed as a candidate for the “Sexiest man Alive” award. What courage! What sacrifice!

              A short list of previous winners of the illustrious award include former President Barack Hussein Obama, his former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, his former Vice-President Joe Biden, and current Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. So, one can clearly see how far-reaching and inclusive the award is. If you are a far-left person who currently wields great political power, you may already be a winner! Anybody else, suck it.

              Other notables to have received nominations include Karl Marx, V.I. Lenin, former Sen. Robert C. Byrd (D-W.V.), Rosie O’Donnell, Joy Reid, The Dixie Chicks, and, of course, Ted Kennedy.

             

Virtue-Signaling Destroying Sports

Sports leagues are now cancelling and/or postponing games for every perceived injustice or slight. Soon, players will boycott games if someone in the country refuses to admit there are an infinite number of genders, or if someone riding light rail in Minneapolis calls an obese person “chubby.”

In the future, “non-essential” businesses will be shut down with regularity whenever a perceived “major health threat” comes along. Similarly, it appears sports leagues will shut down with any accusation of “injustice.” More accurately, with any accusation of injustice against the progressively protected members of society, such as people of color and those in the LGBTQ community. If a cis-gender white person in Indiana forgets to use an African-American transgender person’s preferred pronoun, the NBA will shut down for a month. Because, after all, no one wants to be just a world-class athlete anymore. Gotta be a social justice warrior. The more ignorant you are, the more you feel the need to appear up on the issues, hip, and morally superior to the great unwashed in flyover country.

But what if conservatives played this game, too…at least if there were enough of them to attempt to effect change…and if anybody in the media payed any attention to what they thought? What if players walked off the court or field because Nick Sandmann was unjustly and incorrectly accused of taunting a Native American, when the reverse was actually the case? What if a league cancelled a week’s worth of games because Tucker Carlson was being railroaded for something he didn’t say…or even imply? What if the NBA, NFL, MLB or NHL refused to ever play another game until taxpayer funded abortion was a thing of the past? Think about that. Preposterous? Yes it is. What does that say about our society?

Due to the facts that: a) progressives never rest, and b): most of those in positions of power are spineless money-grubbers, sports now has to be about more than just…sports…and entertainment. Which is why many no longer care to watch it. There is no escape, no respite, no sanctuary from politics and the grind of the everyday world now.

Soon romance novels, video games, spas, resorts, and fishing shows will all have to toe the leftist line and aggressively push the progressive agenda or risk being boycotted, marginalized, cancelled or abolished.

When the default setting of a society or entity is to “shut down” when facing any threat, injustice, or slight-- real or perceived-- that society is doomed to go the way of the dinosaur.

And how “progressive” is that?

Professor Proposes Morality Pill

Western Michigan University ethics professor Parker Crutchfield recently had an essay published in the Conversation in which he said psychoactive medications might be the most effective way to fight the spread of COVID-19. He stated: “To me, it seems the problem of coronavirus defectors could be solved by moral enhancement: like receiving a vaccine to beef up your immune system, people could take a substance to boost their cooperative, pro-social behavior. Could a psychoactive pill be the solution to the pandemic?”

He reiterated the idea later in the essay, saying: “I believe society may be better off, both in the short term as well as the long, by boosting not the body’s ability to fight off disease but the brain’s ability to cooperate with others. What if researchers developed and delivered a moral enhancer rather than an immunity enhancer?”

Yes, that is precisely what we need most. A “morality pill.” What could go wrong with a government mandating the usage of a “morality enhancing” drug to make its citizens more “cooperative” and compliant? Forcing people to comply with whatever the state mandates-- by way of mind-altering drugs-- sounds like a great idea! People would never again take their masks off, never leave their abodes, always strictly comply with all social-distancing laws and regulations. Follow Big Brother’s rules and we can eliminate the coronavirus. And free will, freedom, acts of conscience, and our souls. Perhaps it would be best if we turned to God as our moral enhancer, rather than science.

The NAZIs would have loved the idea of a pill to make the Jews more malleable and compliant. It would have made the Holocaust easier. I’m sure China will run with Crutchfield’s idea. It already grades its citizens on their social behavior/acquiescence to the government’s wishes. Maybe everyone could get a perfect score!

But let’s not be xenophobic. Can you imagine if today’s Democratic Party had morality pills to dispense? If they controlled all three branches of the federal government like they control most of America’s big cities, do you truly doubt they’d push the pills as the best possible way to “flatten the curve?” Look at the actions of some of the country’s Democratic governors and mayors. They have already mandated the use of face masks (even outdoors), arrested people for paddle-boarding or sunbathing, told people they cannot leave their homes for long stretches of time, and banned weddings and funeral attendance. I wouldn’t put it past them to demand we all wear tweed jackets and clown shoes while mandating the taking of our daily morality pills.

I can almost hear Big Brother (Nancy Pelosi?)  saying, “And remember, citizens: vote a straight Democratic ticket this coming election. It’s the right thing to do.”

CNN's Don Lemon Calls For Biden To Renounce Riots

              CNN’s Don Lemon, one of the most despicable people ever to trod the planet, has finally had enough of the riots destroying large swaths of major American cities. But not because of the deaths and injuries they have inflicted on innocent people. Not because people’s livelihoods have been taken from them. Not because so many, minorities and immigrants among them, have had their businesses—and lives—destroyed. Not because of pollution and environmental degradation stemming from the countless fires. Not because of the loss of historical statues and monuments. And certainly not because of the staggering amount of vandalism, theft and looting. No, Lemon has long been untroubled by all of this. He has, in fact, alternately excused and championed the violence for three long months now.

              So why did he recently encourage Joe Biden to denounce the riots? Because they (finally!) appear to be beginning to hurt Democrats in the polls, of course. This he cannot countenance. Lemon (pronounced La’ mon) is deeply concerned that Biden’s chances of defeating President Trump will be lessened if he doesn’t make a public call for an end to the rioting and lawlessness. So, in Lemon’s mind, the prudent thing for Biden to do is to pretend to suddenly be appalled at the violence and mayhem (that Democrats’ own policies have engendered). Calculating? Yes. Hypocritical? Yes. Genuine, human, honest? No, no and no.

              What’s next? Will Lemon call for Biden to disparage late-term abortions when the next poll finds, as it will, that most Americans are against it? Will he demand that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) renounce terrorism and global Islamic Jihad? Oh, wait, I guess they don’t poll for that.

"Mermaid Queen-King" Spoke At DNC

A panel for the LGBTQ caucus meeting at the recent Democratic National Convention featured J. Mai, a staffer from Wake Forest University’s LGBTQ Center. Mai, who uses the plural pronouns they/them, identifies as a “Black-Vietnamese nonbinary/gender-transcendent mermaid Queen-King” who is “currently living out their ever-evolving truths in Winston-Salem,” according to their biography at Wake Forest. Got it? The same biography describes Mai as “a recently licensed minister in the Progressive National Baptist Church.” Apparently, Mai received their Bachelors in Sociology and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Wake Forest University and is currently working towards a Masters in Divinity at that august institution’s School of Divinity.

J. Mai spoke at the DNC early on Tuesday, August 18^th. (I was—tragically-- otherwise engaged and did not get to see or here them live.) According to The Tennessee Star, Mai called for the abolition of police forces, prisons and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and said: “Why can’t folks imagine a world without the cops? Why can’t folks imagine a world without prisons? Why can’t people expand their imaginations to include community care, to include an abolitionist future?” And they made it clear they were talking about actual abolition, not some namby-pamby, garden-variety, “watered down” version, stating: “We’re talking about abolishing the police, we’re talking about abolishing ICE, we’re talking about abolishing prisons.”  

Allow me a few observations here. First off, I’m sure that Disney will soon release a movie titled “The Little Mermaid Queen-King” to be in keeping with the times. Secondly, it seems quite clear that the Progressive National Baptist Church has been living out its ever-evolving truths in the same manner our colleges and universities have, by denying that there is any objective truth at all. Next, Mai is apparently as fond of hyphenated words as they is of gender-transcendency. Five of them in a single biographical sentence is nothing short of mind-blowing.

Imagine a world without laws. Imagine a world without restrictions of any kind. Imagine a world without religion, shame or morals. Per John Lennon, it isn’t hard to do.

Coincidentally, I, too, have been living out my ever-evolving truths, and what I have come to realize is that a significant percentage of progressives want to abolish civility, competence, the Constitution, the rule of law, reason, sanity, reality, and truth. We’re not talking about a namby-pamby, garden-variety, watered-down transformation of America…but its utter destruction.

Speaking of “abolishing” things, when Lincoln abolished slavery, he did so to save the union and to see that it lived up to the better angels of its nature. Today’s leftists want nothing less than to abolish the principles-- and the nation-- that he saved.

In that case, we will all be non-binary, as between prosperity and poverty, hope and despair, freedom and bondage…and good and evil.    

Educators Call Cops On Virtual Student

A Maryland fifth-grader got a visit from the police after his teacher called to report that she had seen a BB gun on the wall behind the student during a class video call. The boy’s mother, Courtney Lancaster Sperry, a navy veteran, wrote a Facebook post stating: “While my son was on a Zoom call, a ‘concerned parent’ and subsequently two teachers saw his properly stowed and mounted Red Ryder BB gun and one other BB gun in the background. He was not holding them and never intentionally showed them on video. In fact, he was oblivious that they could even be seen in the background.”

One of the teachers told the school’s principal, who decided to call the police to report the guns and ask that the home be searched. Hmm…have a warrant? Probable cause? Do teachers and principals now have the power of judges, juries, the FBI? (Ever notice that progressives disdain and eschew the police unless and until they want to use them to oppress those with whom they disagree?) When this country was lapping the world economically and defeating supposedly invincible foes like Hitler’s Germany and Tojo’s Japan—at the same time—nearly every kid had a Red Ryder BB gun and/or a .22 rifle…and a lot of them in rural areas brought them to school. That is when Uncle Sam had balls and was not “non-binary,” and when American citizens were unafraid of being disliked for…the right reasons.

Since her son was targeted by an “educator” who thought there was a scary-looking gun on her son’s bedroom wall, Sperry has been warning other parents about the lack of privacy during virtual classes. She stated that the principal and the teacher cited a rule stating that students may not bring guns to school and claimed it extended to virtual classes as well. She said that the school handbook does not address rules for virtual learning at all, and added, “he did not BRING anything to this meeting, and he is in his own home,” and noted (of the ‘guns’), “They were simply in the background in our home, safely stowed in a room behind a closed door, with no ammunition (if you can even call it that).”

Sperry’s son did not “bring anything to school.” Rather, the school was brought into their private home. It is offensive-- and scary-- to me that A Zoom-conveyed image of government academicians can invade the space where a perfectly innocent child, mother-- and firearm-- reside. Firearms, like mama Sperry’s navy, have been tireless defenders of freedom and underdogs for many decades now.

The same can not be said of government schools.

Would the teacher or principal have sicced the cops on Sperry and her son if they had spotted a vibrator, adult movie or a Planned Parenthood flyer in their house? A screenshot of the upcoming Netflix movie “Cuties?” A copy of “Heather Has Two Mommies?” A bong or spliff? A brochure from the Church of Satan? Of course not.

But, to “progressives,” a BB gun or a Swiss Army knife is a bridge too far, a relic from a time when the government feared—and therefore honored-- its citizens, unlike today, when the citizens fear the government…whether they honor it or not.

Chicago Mayor Bans Protests On Her Street

The Chicago Tribune recently reported that the city has banned all protests—even peaceful ones—on Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s street, assumedly by her orders. Yet she openly supports protests in the rest of her city, even non-peaceful ones. Moreover, the mayor has ordered that a continuous and heavy police presence be kept up outside her home in Logan Square, even as she continues to defame and defund them. Fraternal Order of Police President John Catanzara told the Chicago Sun-Times that as many as 140 police officers have been assigned to Lightfoot’s home at one time.

Incredibly, according to an email sent by the district’s commander, the officers assigned to the directive were instructed to tell protesters that “it is against the city code and state law to protest” and that they therefore must “leave immediately.” Say, why don’t they try that with all those protesting, looting and burning in the rest of the Windy City?

This tells you all you need to know about Mayor Lightfoot and countless other progressives, whether mayors, governors, congressmen, Hollywood stars, late-night television hosts or mainstream media types. This is the rankest possible hypocrisy, stemming from a total lack of respect or regard for everyone else. And it should not be tolerated. Police officers are resigning and retiring in record numbers. The dwindling number remaining on duty are treated like a baby treats a diaper. Chicago is in the grips of a massive crime wave. Dozens of people are shot and assaulted every day. Rioters are still wreaking havoc, lighting fires and looting stores, but the city’s mayor siphons a measurable percentage of her police force from where it would do the most good and uses it to protect her own turf. Sickening. Neighbors disparagingly call her home “Fort Lori.” The Tribune noted that Lightfoot’s order has led to “some quiet grumbling” within the police department. It would be nothing short of amazing if that’s all it has led to, so far. I don’t know how Lightfoot sleeps with herself. Or how her wife sleeps with her for that matter.

Lightfoot defended her actions, telling reporters, “Given the threats that I have personally received, given the threats to my home and my family, I’m gonna do everything to make sure that they are protected. I make no apologies whatsoever. We have a right in our home to live in peace.”

Doesn’t everyone else, too?

Democrats Blast Trump For Location Of RNC Speech

              President Trump recently tweeted—as he is wont to do—that he is considering giving his Republican National Convention speech from the battlefield at Gettysburg National Military Park.

              Commentators and Trump critics blasted the president—as they are wont to do—for the remark, claiming that if he did so it would be proof of his alleged support for the Confederacy.

              The litany of fools included actor Rob Reiner who opined that if trump were to speak at Gettysburg, it would be to “celebrate” his “devotion to White Supremacy.” (Amusingly, Reiner himself is proof of the fallacy of White Supremacy, though he is unaware of this fact.) CNN’s Jeremy Diamond added that Trump speaking at Gettysburg “could be controversial” because “this is a president who has consistently positioned himself as a defender of Confederate symbols and monuments to Confederate generals.” Others have made similar statements.

              Does no one know history anymore? Gettysburg was the site of the Union’s most pivotal, if costly, victory. It turned the tide of the war permanently in the Union’s favor. It was also the site of Lincoln’s famous address lauding the sacrifices of those soldiers and calling for the healing of the nation’s wounds. It is literally the last place on Earth one would go to “celebrate” devotion to White Supremacy or the Confederacy. In this Era of Insanity, this Age of Unreason, if Trump were to speak at Yorktown, he’d be labeled a British puppet.

              But when politicians like Ilhan Omar (D-MN) speak to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and tells them to “raise hell” and “make people uncomfortable,” no one on the left accuses them of being pro-Islamic Jihad or anti-American. When then President Obama told then Russia President Dmitry Medvedev, “This is my last election. After my election I’ll have more flexibility” (to do what the Russians wanted him to do), the media gave him a pass. The Messiah couldn’t be a tool of the Russkies, could he?

              People on the left love to talk about conspiracy theories on the right, such as Q-Anon, etc. But Trump Derangement Syndrome is so advanced some people actually think when the president holds an event on August 8^th, it is in tribute to Hitler. (“H” is the 8^th letter of the alphabet.) One observer in the Twitter-verse recently thought Melania Trump had newly arranged the hedge’s in The Rose Garden in a “K-K-K” pattern. These people are not well. But, of course, it is Trump’s fault.

              As it happens, Trump will give the speech from the White House, a development that also sent his critics into a fit of hysteria.

             

Previously Fired University Of California Students Rehired After Lawsuit

              The University of California-Santa Cruz has reinstated 41 graduate students who had previously been fired for refusing to grade undergraduate student work during a recent labor union strike. The graduate students had been withholding the grades of undergraduates as part of the strike. The university then gave them the option of either turning in the undergraduate students’ grades or facing dismissal. The school ended up firing 70 of the graduate assistants, causing the pink-slipped students’ union, UAW 2865, to sue the school for unfair labor practices. This eventually resulted in UCSC’s decision to reinstate 41 of the students.

              UAW 2865 subsequently posted a statement on Twitter celebrating the “historic win,” adding, “Make no mistake: when workers fight, they win. #1U.” Tony Boardman, one of the reinstated graduate students, remarked: “We have organized, and so many have organized in solidarity with us (for which we’re so grateful) to win our jobs back. If not for the setback of the pandemic we would surely have won much more. We have won here, but our comrades are still being disciplined, and we still can’t afford to live in the place we work. We say: drop the fucking student conduct and get the fucking cops off our campus. And of course: fuck you, pay us.” Of course. How touching and eloquent. Very fitting for such a graceless age.

Boardman’s comment unwittingly yet perfectly sums up Democrats’ attitude towards the “deplorables” in fly-over country: “Drop  any fucking codes of conduct, defund or disband the fucking cops, and, of course…fuck you…and pay us.”

California's Assault On Religion, Reason

             California Governor Gavin Newsome issued an executive order shutting down churches on July 13th, ostensibly to combat the spread of the coronavirus. There was no such mandate to shutter the state’s marijuana dispensaries and abortion clinics, however, as everyone knows COVID-19 steers clear of Democratic sanctuaries. Moreover, L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti has allowed nightly protests to proceed apace in the City of Light. Perhaps Antifa members have attained herd immunity from the virus.

            Pastor John MacArthur’s Grace Community Church in Los Angeles refused to close its doors to its parishioners, prompting the City of Los Angeles to send it a cease-and-desist letter which threatened both the church and MacArthur with $1,000 daily fines-- and jail time-- for continued violations of the order. The letter gave Pastor MacArthur one day to respond. This, in turn, prompted MacArthur and his church to retain two prominent attorneys, Jenna Ellis and Charles LiMandri. Ellis is the senior legal adviser to the Trump 2020 campaign, serves as a senior fellow at the Falkirk Center for Faith & Liberty, and is the author of The Legal Basis for a Moral Constitution. LiMandri began the Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund in 2012 and has litigated high-profile cases in California for many years, including the ACLU’s effort to remove the Mount Soledad Cross and San Diego’s effort to force firefighters to participate in a gay pride parade against their religious beliefs. MacArthur says he will instigate legal action if the city attempts to carry out its threats. LiMandri claims that California is discriminating against churches by prohibiting religious services while allowing various other secular enterprises to continue operating.

           To The Left, the Christian religion is a relic of yesteryear, one it hopes to reduce to a figurative monument to oppression and delusion, to be defaced and erased with all due haste, just like all the other monuments to and from a time in which it did not control the country’s institutions…and young people’s minds.

Karl Marx infamously said, “Religion is the opiate of the masses.” Well, religion isn’t the opiate of the masses now. Opiates are the opiate of the masses.

As is the belief in Big Government…and cradle-to-grave protection from want, inconvenience-- and the need to provide and think for oneself.

*Democrats, it is said (and obvious), never let a good crisis go to waste. Apparently, they never let a good funeral go to waste, either, as evidenced by the Paul Wellstone Memorial Fiasco and, more recently, by Barack Obama’s anti-Trump-and-Republican tirade at Rep. John Lewis’ funeral. Yet, incredibly, they may have sunk to a new low on the opening night of their national convention when they used Kristin Urquiza like a rented bicycle. Urquiza told the story of her dad, a Trump supporter from Arizona, who recently died of COVID-19 a few weeks after going to a karaoke bar shortly after the state’s lockdown was lifted. In a video message, she stated “My dad, Mark Anthony Urquiza, should be here today but he isn’t. He had faith in Donald Trump. He voted for him, listened to him, believed him and his mouthpieces when they said that coronavirus was under control and going to disappear.” Democrats don’t blame rioters for burning down buildings and attacking police, whether mask-less or not, but do pin the blame on President Trump for a man in Arizona contracting the coronavirus. And use that man’s death in a vile political stunt on national television. Sickening doesn’t begin to describe it. (#thewrongUrquiza)

*Pennsylvanians Richard Ross and his wife spent two years preparing for their family’s recent vacation to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Florida. When they finally got there, they were told their disabled 7-year-old daughter could not enter the park without wearing a facial mask. She can’t do so, due to her diagnosed sensory processing disorder. The Magic Kingdom would not relent. They returned home, sadder and wiser. The Magic Kingdom, like so many other things, has lost its luster, its mojo, its raison d’être, and its soul.

*Dr. Deborah Birx, White House coronavirus coordinator, recently waxed nostalgic about Italy’s pandemic lockdown. She stated: “I wish that when we went into lockdown, we looked like Italy. When Italy locked down, I mean, people weren’t allowed out of their houses. And they couldn’t come out but once every two weeks to buy groceries for one hour, and they had to have a certificate that said they were allowed.” Yes, that would have been awesome! How wonderful to have the government tell you you can’t leave your house except for one hour every two weeks to try to procure food to keep your family from starving. And that you needed a hall pass to do even that. Maybe the government can also tell us where we are “allowed” to go, whom we are “allowed” to go with, and what else we can and cannot do. Oh wait, in many cases, they already are. If that doesn’t sadden and frighten you far more than the pandemic does, you are already livestock. Or an obedient robot.

Media Largely Ignores Worst Mass Shooting In The U.S. This Year

              At least 20 people were shot in the early morning hours of August 9^th at a cookout in Washington, D.C. A 17-year-old was killed, and an off-duty police officer sustained life-threatening injuries when multiple shooters opened fire at the gathering in Southeast Washington’s Greenway neighborhood.  The event was attended by as many as 400 people. At least eleven of those shot were female. Apparently, a dispute broke out, leading to an exchange of fire. Authorities said they were hard-pressed to recall another incident when so many people were shot at once. Yet, incredibly, the mainstream media mostly avoided reporting on the biggest mass shooting in the United States this year. You see, the shooters weren’t police. And they weren’t even white. Ergo, nothing to see here.

              The Washington Post was compelled to report on the tragedy, if only because it is the hometown newspaper and people would have noticed had it, too, tried to bury the story. Stupefyingly, it chose to frame the story as one of lawlessness, not because of the murder and shooting of innocent people, but because most in attendance weren’t wearing facial masks. The paper’s report soberly noted, “The party and the tragedy that ensued revived questions about large gatherings that flout Mayor Muriel E. Bowser’s order that prohibits groups larger than 50 people and requires those older than 2 to wear a mask when they leave home and are likely to come into contact with others.”

              The mayor indicated that police might now have to take a tougher stand against…those heinous criminals who flout the law and societal norms by openly attending cookouts mask-less. Police were aware of the impending event through an online advertisement and had been monitoring it. Authorities are now considering penalizing the promoters of the block party. Authorities appear to think the reason 20 people got shot was because they weren’t wearing masks to a cookout and defied the mayor’s mask order. It used to be that people wore masks only when they were planning to commit a crime. Attendees said that people were having fun for hours and that the gathering was peaceful…until it wasn’t. A “mostly peaceful” cookout, as it were. 

              More than 115 people have been murdered in the District of Columbia this year, a significant increase over this time in 2019, which was itself a decade-long high. D.C. officials have attributed some of the killings to disputes involving gangs but have also said that criminal suspects released from jail because of coronavirus concerns have contributed to the escalating violence. But then they also said that a gathering that size shouldn’t have been allowed. I mean, since they weren’t rioting, looting and burning down buildings. Officials said the number of people at the party made it a clear violation of Bowser’s orders to control the spread of the coronavirus and noted that violations carry fines of up to $1,000.

Mayor Bowser stated, of the brazenly mask-less cookout attendees (not the indiscriminate shooters), “It’s very important that as a community we have a zero-tolerance for this activity.” She also noted that, in the future, police will have to “break up these events,” and “the community is going to have to understand that some people may have to go to jail.” Cookouts are dangerous, you see. She added: “We know it’s summertime, people have been cooped up and they don’t have a lot of places to go. There have been cookouts that have happened peacefully for years and years that are spinning out of control.” Due to mask-less people, apparently. Even though every peaceful cookout she referenced “for years and years” was attended entirely by those without facial masks. Perhaps there is another reason cook-outs—and nearly everything else—seem to be spinning out of control. Like the collapse of morality, religion and the nuclear family maybe?

One D.C. Council member recognized that enforcing Bowser’s mandates would present challenges for the police, noting, “A block party is the ultimate community activity. That’s funny, I thought rioting was. The same council member said that those congregating across the District must recognize that mask-wearing and social distancing make a difference in the midst of a public health emergency. She said, “We can only hope that people will follow the instructions given out by the mayor and the health commissioner. Unfortunately, some people in this community think they are immune.”

Actually, some people—probably many—in D.C. are immune to the coronavirus. The same can be said for people around the country. “Herd immunity.”

Unfortunately, none of us are immune to the idiocy, hypocrisy, bias and tyranny of the elites who endeavor to enslave us.

Will Lack Of Distinction Lead To Judgement Day?

As Dennis Prager has noted, Judaism is a religion of distinctions. I would suggest the same could well be said of Christianity or, for that matter, the United States as a nation. These distinctions have served us well over time, but they are now rapidly being eviscerated in favor of the new One True God, Tolerance.

Mr. Prager listed five key distinctions, which I will list here. If we are honest, we will have to admit that all five are under attack and weakened. In two or three of these cases, I would argue that the definitions of the terms that comprise these binary concepts and entities, and/or the way we recognize them, have been reversed. The primary distinctions are between: A) God and man. B) Good and evil. C) Man and woman. D) Holy and profane. E) Life and death. I will address them in that order.

God used to be feared and worshipped, considered omnipotent and ever-present. Humans were to be humble and reverential, as well as appreciative of their blessings. The Lord’s name wasn’t to be taken in vain, and Sundays were for rest, contemplation and worship. Today, many openly scoff at the idea of “some guy in the sky,” while they worship certain Hollywood stars and athletes. “G*d D**n” and “Jesus Christ” are used almost as often as the word “the” in movies, television shows and some popular music. Progressive politicians and bureaucrats deliberately dispense with God so that they can replace Him with government, i.e. themselves. “Send your tithes to us,” they say, “And we will bless you and keep you.” Especially keep you.

Good and evil are also now reversed. In fact, “bad” means “good,” to many folks. “That’s one bad ass car,” is a high compliment. Exercising judgement and expecting excellence or even decency is now bad…as in bad. Christianity is mocked, Jews are attacked, the Ten Commandments have been removed from public spaces, but membership in The Church of Satan and The Satanic Temple is growing by leaps and bounds. Rioters burn and loot our cities with impunity, cheered on by certain government officials. In some states, petty theft is being completely excused while calling a transgendered person by their biologically correct pronoun is considered a crime. There is a growing movement in academia to characterize competence, civil behavior and punctuality as damning relics of a white, patriarchal hegemony.

The distinction between man and woman has been all but obliterated, as has the very concept of binary sexes. Tragically, this has damaged—and is threatening to destroy-- one of the greatest joys of human existence. It also demeans how humans come to be and attempts to negate the Book of Genesis, which does not say, “male and female…and pangender, nanogender and at least threescore other genders He created them.”

As with good and evil, we have essentially flipped what is considered holy and what is considered profane. It is now considered profane to state that marriage should be between one man and one woman or that only women can give birth. The concept of “Love is Love,” regardless of the sex/gender, age, species, or number of beings involved, is now considered holy by “progressives.” As is belief in man-caused “climate change.” And unfettered abortion.

Life is so undervalued that “assisted suicide’ laws are popping up around the country, as are laws allowing abortion of a baby up to the moment of birth—and until just a little while after. Many believe it is immoral to put a single terrorist or mass-murderer to death but are super stoked about the slaughter of tens of millions of innocent babies world-wide every year in the guise of women’s “choice.”

God and man, good and evil and holy and profane are, obviously, closely related. As are man and woman and life and death. But, in truth, all of these are now part and parcel of two distinct worldviews. That’s right, binary outlooks. One recognizes the idolatry of man, evil, the profane, gender irrelevance, and death as the primary virtues to be enshrined and worshipped. The other considers God, good, the holy, complimentary sexes, and life as sacred.

The former belief system has destroyed every single society in which it has taken hold. The latter ushered in The Enlightenment, the United States of America, and unparalleled prosperity.

Is one better than the other? Who among us will dare to make that distinction?

             

Minneapolis Taxes Businesses' Rubble, Patience

First, Minneapolis officials let rioters burn down and otherwise destroy nearly 100 businesses over the course of several nights. They told police to stand down. Since then, incredibly, they have refused to let the owners remove the twisted wreckage of their demolished businesses without a permit. A permit they would not grant unless the owners of the now defunct shops, service outlets and eateries prepaid the second half of their 2020 property taxes. And contractors cannot provide an estimate of how much it will cost to rebuild their businesses until the debris is removed. St. Paul, the Minneapple’s sister city, has waived the tax requirement.

Don Blyly, owner of a bookstore destroyed in the riots, told the Minneapolis StarTribune: “Minneapolis has not been particularly friendly toward business for some time.” This is a candidate for Understatement of the Year, akin to saying that “Joe Biden hasn’t been the most eloquent person on the face of the Earth lately.” Blyly prepaid $8,847 in second half taxes a week ago, yet still hasn’t received his permit. Minneapolis officials lamely cited a state law for their intransigence. However, the law clearly leaves enforcement up to the counties, and Hennepin County officials say they made it clear to the city of Minneapolis earlier this summer that they would not enforce the requirement for any riot-damaged or destroyed properties.

Large stretches of Lake Street and other areas of the city have been reduced to piles of rubble. Piles of rubble that are still there, ugly, depressing and filled with hazardous materials. Basim Sabri is the owner of several properties on or near Lake Street. He told the StarTribune: “You can’t just allow a bunch of rubble and hazardous material to sit in the middle of Lake Street. People could get hurt. Where are our City Council members? What are they doing? Have they seen it?” They are too busy virtue-signaling and hiring private security for their own protection to tend to the needs of their city’s business community, Mr. Sabri.

On average, the paper reported, the owners of properties destroyed or significantly damaged owe $25,000 in taxes for the second half of 2020. Moreover, most of these owners will also have to pay $35,000 to $100,000 to have their sites cleared of debris. For many, their businesses were their only source of income. Already hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, the riots have left them unable to comply with the city’s mandates. Unsurprisingly, owners say the lack of progress has discouraged reinvestment and is forcing customers—and businesses—to look elsewhere.

To recap, businesses pay property taxes in large part to secure the services of the police and the fire department. City officials took the business owners’ first half 2020 taxes but then refused to let the police and fire department protect their businesses. Talk about a breach of contract. They didn’t demand any payment or recompense from the thugs and criminals who looted and plundered the businesses, but did demand payment of second half taxes from the businesses they let be destroyed, before they would “let” them clean up the mess the thugs and city created. Try to wrap your mind around that.

Shortly after the paper published the article, the city waived the pre-paid second half 2020 tax requirement. Mayor Jacob Frey announced the change and said, “I recently learned about the predicament and took quick action to fix it. For the sake of our businesses, we need to be removing every last possible barrier to recovery and reopening.” He recently learned about “the predicament?” That seems odd, him being the city’s mayor and all. Plus, Andrew Johnson is the one City Council member who has been sympathetic to the business owners’ plight. Frey issued a statement saying that he consulted with Johnson before deciding to waive the collection of property taxes as part of the debris removal process. Johnson has been lobbying city (and county) officials to address the issue and rectify the situation since June. And this is the first the feckless Frey had heard about it?

The wealthy are fleeing New York due to exorbitantly high taxes and a drastic increase in crime. The state’s clueless governor attempts to woo them back by offering to buy them a drink. Businesses are leaving New York, Illinois and California for the same reasons.  Now Minneapolis has joined the list of leftist-run states and cities seemingly determined to erode their tax bases to appease the frenzied mob.

The NFL Nixes Live Anthem Performances

              According to Front Office Sports, the National Football League won’t allow any live performances of the national anthem prior to NFL games this season. The league is also considering limiting the presence of military and police honor guards on its fields, a sea-change from even one season ago. The league claims the changes are simply a good-faith attempt to limit the number of people with access to the field to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Of course. Surely the NFL isn’t using the pandemic as an excuse to pander to left-wing protesters/rioters/social-justice-warriors and their aiders and abettors! No one would even suggest that the league is attempting to cuddle up to the BLM movement! Perish the thought!

              In fact, the league will allow recordings of the Star-Spangled Banner to be played before games. Oddly enough, however, “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” a.k.a. the Black National Anthem, will be played before every Week 1 NFL contest, prior to the national anthem, and may well be performed live in a number of stadiums.

The league will also employ other measures to recognize victims of police brutality and support anti-racism initiatives. ESPN’s The Undefeated reports that the NFL will collaborate with the NFL Players’ Association in listing the names of victims on uniforms-- via helmet decals or jersey patches—and will also place social justice messages in the end zones during Week 1 instead of team names. The messages will include “End Racism” and “It Takes All of Us.” How about “Bad Things Suck?” This is a pathetically entry-level attempt at virtue-signaling for the most powerful sports league on Earth. Additionally, the NFL is apparently going to produce educational programs about victims and has other plans to take advantage of the current climate of hatred, division and self-loathing that The Left has so successfully sowed.

Perhaps the league will sponsor “BLM Nights” at stadiums around the fruited plain and offer discounts to Antifa members, as well. Maybe it will introduce graduated ticket pricing, whereby a straight white Christian male, for example, would pay $300 for “ticket X,” but a non-binary, agnostic person of color would get the same ticket for $22.50.

A famous NFL owner used to exclaim, “Just win, baby!” Today that would be amended to, “Just virtue-signal, baby!”

Let’s hope that the NFL soon stands for “No Fans League”

Democrats, Media Blast Trump For Saying He Might Give RNC Speech At Gettysburg

              President Trump recently tweeted—as he is wont to do—that he is considering giving his Republican National Convention speech from the battlefield at Gettysburg National Military Park.

              Commentators and Trump critics blasted the president—as they are wont to do—for the remark, claiming that if he did so it would be proof of his alleged support for the Confederacy.

              The litany of fools included actor Rob Reiner who opined that if trump were to speak at Gettysburg, it would be to “celebrate” his “devotion to White Supremacy.” (Amusingly, Reiner himself is proof of the fallacy of White Supremacy, though he is unaware of this fact.) CNN’s Jeremy Diamond added that Trump speaking at Gettysburg “could be controversial” because “this is a president who has consistently positioned himself as a defender of Confederate symbols and monuments to Confederate generals.” Others have made similar statements.

              Does no one know history anymore? Gettysburg was the site of the Union’s most pivotal, if costly, victory. It turned the tide of the war permanently in the Union’s favor. It was also the site of Lincoln’s famous address lauding the sacrifices of those soldiers and calling for the healing of the nation’s wounds. It is literally the last place on Earth one would go to “celebrate” devotion to White Supremacy or the Confederacy. In this Era of Insanity, this Age of Unreason, if Trump were to speak at Yorktown, he’d be labeled a British puppet. If he were to speak at One World Trade Center (the Freedom Tower in New York City), Never-Trumpers would do a 180 and accuse him of being pro-Islamic Jihad. If he were to give an address at Pearl Harbor, the mainstream media would smear him as being nothing more than a sycophant of Japan’s Emperor Naruhito.

              But when politicians like Ilhan Omar (D-MN) speak to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and tells them to “raise hell” and “make people uncomfortable,” no one on the left accuses them of being pro-Islamic Jihad or anti-American. When President Obama spoke to then Russian President Dmitri Medvedev and winkingly told him, “After the election, I’ll have more flexibility,” the mainstream media thought nothing of it. Yet, if Trump ate a bowl of borscht, the media would find it proof that he is a tool of Putin.

Okay, just kidding, that’s where we were supposed to be before the Trump Virus ravaged our nation. You know, like, Republicans don’t think we Democrats like ‘fly-over country,’ but that’s just not true. Take Wisconsin for instance…please. Just kidding, cheese-heads! Who doesn’t like a state with ‘con’ and ‘sin’ in its name, haha? I wish we had been able to meet in Brew Town. There’s no better way to cool off than with a tall cold one…and I’m not, like, talking about Mitt Romney, heh-heh. *Impeaching President Trump again…several more times if possible. There's still time! Failing that, we’ll shoot him. And his family. Oh, um, I mean in the unlikely event that we don’t defeat him this November.

*Banning the manufacture, sale and possession of all guns, including BB guns and rubber band guns. Also, banning the airing of the old television show ‘Gunsmoke,’ and all appearances by the rock group ‘Guns N’ Roses.’

*Keeping all American flags at half-mast until a Democrat is elected president, at which time we will ban them from public spaces.

*Keeping Americans safe (especially ourselves) by know-towing to our enemies…who are actually just friends we haven’t made yet.

*Protecting women’s inalienable health care rights and actually expanding them to include the right to abort their unwanted children up to the age of five and the right to sell their body parts via the internet if the revenue generated is immediately turned over to Black Lives Matter.

*Immediately stripping all powers from the executive branch of the government while a Republican is president, and permanently disbanding the legislative and judicial branches as soon as the next Democratic president is elected. For the people.

*Banning all extraction industries,  nuclear power, and destroying the energy sector, forcing America to utilize sustainable energy practices such as burning wood and dung,  suddenly freeing tightly coiled rubber bands, and shuffling one’s feet on a carpeted floor during cold and dry periods.

*Clearly stating that Socialism is a more enlightened economic--and moral-- system than capitalism.

*Acknowledging that any and all possible permutations of ‘marriage’ and ‘family’ are equally valid and divine. Love is love. Believe it. Or else. 

*Replacing the silly, misplaced worship of some guy in the sky with the serious, sober, truly spiritual adoration of…us. And Oprah. Replacing any Christian monuments with statues of Baphomet.

Well, it’s time for Rep. Rashida Tlaib to lead us all in singing, ‘God Damn America.’ Let the, like, virtual convention begin!” 

Michigan B & B Owners Forced To Take Down Norwegian Flag

              Greg and Kjersten Offenbecker own The Nordic Pineapple B & B in St. Johns, Michigan. They are Norwegian…and proud of it. As such, they flew the Norwegian flag in front of their inn.

              They don’t anymore.

              Why? They say they received roughly “two dozen hateful emails” from people who thought they were flying the Confederate flag. Two dozen. They claim the emails had gotten more hateful as of late. Kjersten said, “We have 4 or 5 really nasty ones that are much more hurtful.” Which led to their difficult decision to take down the flag. They should have left it up and added one with a giant middle finger protruding from an otherwise clenched fist. But, it’s daunting to take on the mob.

Kjersten told the Daily Caller: “We hang the Norwegian flag because I am a 4^th generation Norwegian-American. I am very proud of that heritage and wanted to share a piece of it with the people who come to visit our bed and breakfast.” She added, “The Norwegians are a peaceful people who love family and that is what our inn really is all about. We just want people to come stay with us and experience a wonderful getaway.”

Greg Offenbecker served in the navy during Desert Storm. Ironically, the couple has adopted two black children. The haters don’t know that. Nor would they care. The Norwegian flag does not resemble the Confederate banner. The hate-mongers probably don’t know that, either. If they do, they don’t care. It is nearly impossible for a woke person/Karen/progressive/leftist/identity-politics purveyor to pass up a chance to accuse someone else of being a “racist.” And, in so doing, reveal themselves to be hateful, ignorant, and small.

                                                         

          

                                   

Teen Vogue Op-Ed Calls For Abolition Of Private Property

Teen Vogue recently published an op-ed by columnist Kandist Mallett in which she declared that no one should have the right to own property. She called for the elimination of landlords while averring that “an eviction crisis is coming” due to the coronavirus pandemic’s heavy toll on the United States, which, she says, is evidence of “the failures of capitalism.”

Mallett noted that “The pandemic didn’t create this housing crisis, but it did further expose the cruelty of payment-based housing.” No, but she herself may have just exposed the futility of payment-based higher education.

She rambled on: “Instead of seeing housing as a right and something that should not be commodified, the state enlists its own armed forces—sheriffs and police—to remove occupants from residences if they cannot pay rent. The lack of protections for non-landowners should be to no surprise from a country founded on the genocide and colonization of indigenous peoples.”

Mallett ended by stating, “We need a housing movement based on a rejection of the construct that any one person should own this earth’s land.” Stupefyingly, Teen Vogue took to Twitter to tout the piece with an excerpt reading, “While we’re working to abolish the police, we must also work to dismantle what the police were put here to protect: property.” Why is a fashion magazine aimed at teenage girls espousing policy prescriptions to the left of Mao Zedong?  We must work to dismantle property? If the number of young folks currently burning buildings and toppling statues is any indication, the online rag has some readership--- and some influence. Or maybe it’s just catching up to what has already occurred and is making an attempt to seem “cool” and “woker-than-thou.”

No doubt Mallett thinks food and clothing should also be freed from the cruelty of the current payment-based market system. Commodities should not be commodified, comrade! Of course, that might make hypocrites of the fine folks at Teen Vogue. Not that its readers would notice. If ignorance were a virtue, they would all be Mother Teresas.

If queried, I’m certain Mallett would say that birth control should be free for all, too. “Oh, and sex toys like vibes and things.”

In its next issue, Teen Vogue will surely call for the abolishment of life and liberty, “both mere constructs evolved from white, patriarchal privilege.”

Has to catch up with the Democratic Party, you know.

Pro-Life Sidewalk-Chalkers Arrested

              A pair of pro-life college students were arrested recently for chalking “Black Pre-Born Lives Matter” on a sidewalk outside of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Washington, D.C. The two were charged with…wait for it…defacing public property…which is extremely odd, since they were participating in a protest organized by Students for Life of America. I thought we all agreed that protesting was a cherished right of every American. And that Black Lives Matter. I guess Pre-Born Black Lives are the exception to the rule. The arrests were also odd since the group was originally told it could paint in the street and was even issued a permit to do so, with the temporary paint it had purchased. But, when they arrived at the clinic, police threatened to arrest them if they did just that. They then asked if they could use sidewalk chalk to convey their anti-violence message. They were threatened with arrest again.

              Yet, mere weeks ago, D.C.’s mayor painted “Black Lives Matter” slogans-- in giant letters-- onto the streets of her city with permanent paint, prompting the pro-life students to remark: “In doing this, she proclaimed not only what those of us in the pro-life [community] genuinely believe and fight for every day in front of Planned Parenthoods and other abortion facilities across America, but she also opened up the streets of Washington, D.C. for public expression.”

              Just not that kind of expression. Black Lives Matter good. Black Pre-born Lives Matter bad. Free speech for Marxists good. Free speech for Christians bad. Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, sex, gender-identity, sexual orientation, or (most) religions bad. Discrimination based on viewpoints and political beliefs good.

              If you happen to be a member of a protected group, such as BLM or Antifa, you can deface and destroy public property and burn down private property with impunity. You can paint your favorite slogans on anything you like, anywhere in the country. Others will applaud you. Or do it for you.

              However, if you are of a bit more conservative persuasion, and you dare to try to write a pro-life message on a sidewalk with Crayola Sidewalk Chalk that will wash off the very next time it rains…you will be arrested.

              Incredible. Or it damn well should be.

                                           

Minneapolis City Council Members Disturbed By Protests On Their Property

Minneapolis City Council member Andrea Jenkins told KSTP-TV that there have been protests outside the homes of several city council members in recent weeks. Protests? Gasp! Now she’s noticed. Council member Lisa Bender even had her home vandalized. Can you imagine?! Bender said she has never witnessed this type of anger directed at the city council in her 16-year tenure at City Hall. She stated, "No, I have not seen any council member be concerned about their own personal safety, or the safety of their families. And I think a lot of council members are feeling that right now."

Note to Bender: so is everyone else in your city. That’s because you and your fellow council members essentially condoned the recent rioting when it was destroying everyone else’s property and lives. And because you voted to defund the police. Twice. What goes around comes around. Right?

Bender wasn’t the only council member aghast at the turn of events. Jenkins whined, "I do not feel as safe in my home as I did just three months ago.” Which is why she—and several other council members—have hired private security, courtesy of the taxpayers whom they are attempting to strip of police protection. Talk about “privilege.”

Jenkins further opined that the stress of COVID-19, the death of George Floyd and debate over whether to defund the Minneapolis Police Department have combined to give rise to a level of vitriol towards government she hasn’t heretofore experienced. She conveniently forgot to mention the part that the government’s response to these crises has played in citizen’s disgust with the ruling class.

Jenkins also bemoaned her workplace’s lack of insulation from the mob, saying: "Minneapolis City Hall is one of the only governmental buildings in downtown Minneapolis that does not have a security protocol. I mean, anyone can walk into our building at any time." Egads! The proletariat can enter the hallowed halls of government! She noted she’d like to see the edifice’s security beefed up.
