The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation—or CBC—recently edited
the popular Christmas movie “Home Alone 2,” cutting
the famous 40-second cameo in which McCauley Culkin asks (future president)
Donald Trump for directions upon entering the Plaza Hotel. Comicbook.com
queried the CBC about the “edit,” the network replying, “As is often the case
with features adapted for television, Home Alone 2 was edited to allow
for commercial time within the format.”
Yeah,
sure. Now tell us the one about the three bears. Has the Communist Broadcasting
Corporation taken “The Apprentice” off the air, too? Is it refusing to
show movies in which Ronald Reagan appeared? Will it now forbid all mention of
Kanye West? Has it banned advertising from Chick-fil-A? Oil companies?
Most of
the mainstream media outlets-- the supposedly free press-- in the West act as
if they were aggressively and egregiously censored by a totalitarian
government. That they are so meek, uncurious, unserious, dependent,
intellectually bereft, and willing to shackle themselves to one discredited
ideology must boggle the mind of any sentient being.
A free
press is necessary to the proper functioning of a democratic republic.
It’s
too bad we don’t have one, eh?
