Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsome Tries To Stem Recall Momentum

 

Democratic California Governor Gavin (“I never met a French Laundry I didn’t like”) Newsome, and his friends in government, are upset that the state’s electorate might be acting up and engaging in representative democracy. More than two million citizens of the formerly Golden State have thus far exercised their right and signed a petition to recall the tyrannical and hypocritical Governor. 

This did not sit well with Newsome or his “Democratic” colleagues. The California State Senate Elections Committee has prepared Senate Bill 663, apparently sponsored by Newsome himself, that would allow a politician targeted by a recall to get a copy of the petition- including the names and addresses of everyone who signed it and their contact information.   

Try to wrap your mind around that: the very politicians who are adamantly against laws that would require voters to present any type of I.D. to vote for them, want to pass a law that would grant them access to the personal information of anyone who might wish to see them removed from office.

It is critically important that we know who we are voting for in the first place, and equally so that we know our votes are being counted. America’s first president, George Washington, refused to be king and to serve more than two terms…because he didn’t want to set a precedent of a ruler being seen as monarchical or evincing signs of dictatorship. Conversely, FDR was happy to win a fourth term in office and to try to stack the court.

Today’s Democrats abhor the concept of voter I.D. but laud the concept of identifying any and everyone who has the temerity to question their power or want them removed.

Those notions are the building blocks of tyranny. There is nothing progressive about that.

 

 

Georgia Tech Students, Alumni To Vote On Amending School's Fight Song

 

In the interest of, you guessed it, “gender inclusivity,” Georgia Tech University students will soon vote on approving a change to the school’s fight song. “White & Gold” is traditionally played after the Georgia Tech football team scores a touchdown. Its lyrics read in part:

Georgia Tech is out for a victory
We'll drop our battle axe on Georgia's head, CHOP!
When we meet her our team will surely beat her…

But “Ramblin’ Wreck,” traditionally played subsequent to a point after touchdown, is the school’s official fight song, and the one students may vote to amend. Here are the lyrics to the song:

I'm a Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech and a hell of an engineer,
A helluva, helluva, helluva, helluva, hell of an engineer,
Like all the jolly good fellows, I drink my whiskey clear,

Can you guess which lyric or lyrics this spring’s student government election ballot referendum is intended to address? It is in the second verse of “Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech,” which reads, “If I had a daughter, sir, I’d dress her in White and Gold, and put her on the campus to cheer the brave and bold.” Students will vote on whether to change the word “cheer” to “join.” It’s about time. “Cheer” is, on its face, a heinously offensive word, is it not?

An identical ballot measure was offered six years ago. Back then, 71 percent of respondents voted against trading in “cheer” for “join,” with a higher percentage of alumni than students opposing the change. But we can hope that today’s voters will be more enlightened, woker.  

Gambling, ubiquitous binge drinking, saying “To Hell with”-- and smiting-- one’s opponents/neighbors are all apparently perfectly okay and sanctioned. Wielding an axe (“CHOP!”) and vowing “When we meet her our team will surely beat her” is also of no concern, but, dammit, “cheer” is beyond the pale.

I know, I know, girls shouldn’t just be cheering on the boys who are on the field. So why not rewrite the entire second verse? In fact, I’ll do so right now:

Oh, if I had an offspring who identified as female, xir, I'd dress her in White and Gold,
And put her on the campus, to join the brave and bold.
But if I had an offspring who identified as male, xir, I'll tell you (they?) what he'd do.
He would yell, "To Hell with convention" like his parental unit used to do.

Losing Our Religion: Americans Slouching Towards Gomorrah

 

For the first time ever, the percentage of Americans who belong to a house of worship such as a church or synagogue has fallen below 50%, according to a new Gallup survey.  

The recent poll found that only 47% of Americans reported membership in a place of worship in 2020, continuing a steep downward trend that began in the early 2000s. In 1937, when Gallup first began tracking church membership, 73% of Americans reported belonging to a house of worship. Membership (and church attendance) continued at nearly the same high levels for almost seven more decades. In 1999, 70% of Americans still said they belonged to a house of worship. For some reason, or reasons, membership began steadily declining in the early 2000s, a trend that continues apace, with no sign of slowing.

Gallup said of its survey’s findings: "Over the past two decades, the percentage of Americans who do not identify with any religion has grown from 8% in 1998-2000 to 13% in 2008-2010 and 21% over the past three years. As would be expected, Americans without a religious preference are highly unlikely to belong to a church, synagogue or mosque, although a small proportion — 4% in the 2018-2020 data — say they do. That figure is down from 10% between 1998 and 2000."

Those from younger generations in particular are rapidly abandoning or avoiding religion. Gallup noted, "Church membership is strongly correlated with age, as 66% of traditionalists — U.S. adults born before 1946 — belong to a church, compared with 58% of baby boomers, 50% of those in Generation X and 36% of Millennials." (The flight from Christian churches is even more striking when you realize that a higher percentage of Americans are members of a Mosque than ever before, though that percentage is still low.)

Violent—and other—crime is rising in virtually all major American cities. Rates of addiction, depression and suicide are also rising dramatically. Syringes and human feces line the streets and sidewalks of formerly paradisical cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle and Portland. A growing number of us find it difficult to figure out what gender we may be. Pot, ‘shrooms and even hard drugs are being legalized in many locales. Criminals are being let out of jail, while hard working small business owners are being ushered into jail. Police departments are being demonized and defunded. There is a growing push to legalize polygamy. Yet it is a crime to say “All Lives Matter.”

But this is all just coincidence, post hoc ergo propter hoc randomness, right? It can’t possibly be a result of the staggeringly rapid loss of religiosity that is occurring in America and much of the West, can it? Nah!

So let’s let those on the Left continue to criminalize Christianity and legalize crime. What could possibly go wrong?

After all, they are vouching for Gomorrah. It was tolerant and inclusive, you see.

 

             

 

 

Witness: Democrats Now Openly Playing Role Of The Erstwhile Soviet Underground

 

Many people today—and the great majority of our youth—are not familiar with the name Whittaker Chambers. This is unfortunate. Chambers, born in Philadelphia, became a Communist Party member and Soviet spy and then defected from the Soviet Underground. He survived to become a prominent writer and an editor at the then prestigious Time magazine. He went on to testify in the perjury case of Alger Hiss, often referred to as “The Trial of the Century.” He then wrote his memoir, the outstanding book “Witness.”

In that memoir he noted that “faith” moved Communist spies and traitors and that “in the final conflict, only equal faith can overcome them.”

He presciently observed of the United States: “’The process of dissolution going on within…the whole range of the old society’ becomes so violent ‘that a small section of the ruling class join us [in] the revolutionary class.’ When this happens, it is very late in the night of history, and in the life of nations.”

This is a chillingly accurate description of what is occurring in the United States today. As evidenced by the Democratic Party and its comrades in Big Tech, Big Media and Big Government, the ruling class is the revolutionary class, in the Soviet sense. The elites shamelessly use radicals and reprobates in the lower class to help them retain and increase power by demonizing and savaging those in the productive, patriotic middle class. This is clearly seen in the statements and actions of those like Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jerry Nadler and Adam Schiff, aka “Pencil-Neck.”

 Chambers went on to state that what the Communist traitors and sympathizers sought was an “irreparable” severing of “that faith between man and man which is the arterial pulse of community.” This is exactly what the critical race theory proponents, multiculturalists and intersectionality warriors seek to “achieve.”

As Chambers observed, “For henceforth the conspirator is indistinguishable from the man beside you. Security shatters, not because there are no more locks, but because the men naturally trusted with the keys and combinations are themselves the conspirators. The mere fact that the deserter, by an act of his own will, stands outside the control of the Communist Party is a threat. He must therefore expect that the party will act to remove the threat.”

Every aspect of this statement rings true today. It is, in fact, the very definition of “cancel culture.” Those in power in America today, from the Obama Harris Biden administration to the DOJ, CIA, FBI, Deep State, Media-Academic-Big Tech complex, and the ultra-rich CEOs of multi-national corporations, who we have trusted with the “keys” for far too long, are themselves the conspirators. And the mere fact that any individual, no matter how powerless, stands outside their control by an act of their own will is perceived as a threat to their hegemony.

Therefore, they must be…canceled.

To that, we have all been witness.

             

 

Scientists Create Human-Monkey Embryo

 

Great news! The first part-human, part-monkey embryo was recently created by scientists at the Salk Institute in California.  Despite the ethical concerns of many, researchers succeeded in growing human stem cells in monkey embryos to try and better understand how the cells communicate. The human stem cells, known for their ability to become different types of cells under the right conditions, were injected into macaque embryos in a petri dish. These embryos were monitored for approximately 20 days and were subsequently destroyed. Those against this kind of inter-species experimentation believe it could someday lead to the existence of "human-nonhuman" creatures.

 

Scientists call these hybrid embryos monkey-human chimeras.

 

In other words, “human-nonhuman tissue masses.”

 

Some would say: “Blending human cells with those of animals? What could go wrong? Why not see what can happen? The backward, Christian types that claim to have ‘ethical concerns’ regarding this advancement of science are just clinging ever tighter to their guns and their God. They’re probably just upset that educated progressives don’t believe in Genesis and the Garden of Eden. Or an all-powerful guy (of course it’s a male figure) in the sky. I mean, since there really is no God, why shouldn’t we act as one? If a creature we aren’t comfortable with ever does result from our experiments, we can just kill it anyway. So, what’s the problem?”

 

Me?  I admit I’m not entirely comfortable with the manipulation of DNA and genetic engineering. Isn’t transsexualism and transgenderism enough? Call me bananas if you will, but I don’t think it’s beneficial to man nor beast to monkey around with trans-speciesism.

 

You can fling poo at me for saying this, but we are all becoming naught but organ grinders monkeys to elites and experts everywhere.

                         

 

 

 

Colleges Offering "Adulting" Courses

 

Colleges around the fruited plane are now offering classes that will teach students how to perform basic adult tasks. These “adulting” courses will show students how to properly do things such as wash and dry clothes, dress professionally, tie a tie, clean, cook, and pay bills on time. (Hint: pay your bills on time.) Some even attempt to illustrate proper etiquette when eating, a skill sorely lacking among most younger folks today. As you might have guessed, these “adulting” classes and workshops are being offered primarily at tech and trade schools and community colleges, not the elite Indoctrination Centers of the Ivy League, Big Ten, Pac 12 and the like. Which is too bad, as they are vastly more beneficial to the world at large than classes on intersectionality, critical race theory and gender studies.

It is hard to fathom, however, how we arrived at the point where even the most basic “skills” have to be taught outside of the family unit to young adults aged 18-22. Yet the need is apparently so great that Amazon even offers a 16-month “I Adulted!” calendar with more than 100 full color “Stickers for Grown-Ups” to mark such landmark achievements as “I wasn’t late!” and “I took a shower today!”

The calendar is available for just $9.99 (get a sticker if you “Paid for it Myself!”) and has thus far received a 4.8 out of 5 rating by reviewers. (“I Reviewed Something Online Today!”)

Perhaps you know someone from Generation Z who actually made his bed today, or a Millennial who washed her cereal bowl? Why let such magnificent daily accomplishments go unrewarded? Why not give them an “I Adulted!” calendar replete with the 100-plus colorful stickers?

Young adults, if you’ve cooked for yourself, emptied the litter box, or brushed your teeth today, don’t you want to give yourself some well-earned recognition? Sure you do!

So, go ahead and proudly post your virtue-signaling messages: “I changed my underwear!” “I knew how much change I was supposed to get back when paying for my latte!” “I wrote cursive!” “I was able to tell time on an old, non-digital, round-faced clock!” “I only played on my X-box for two hours today!” “I didn’t let my pants hang down to my thighs!” “I didn’t smoke a doobie today…well, not a whole one anyway!” “Like, I read something today!” “I’m 36 and I don’t live with my parents!”

Or maybe, “I learned about Cato and Cicero today!” Fat chance. But we can dream, can’t we?

 

 

Media's Coverage Black And White

 

Talk about double standards and racism. If a black man with an extensive criminal record and a weapon in his possession is— necessarily or accidentally—killed by a police officer, the media goes nuts for days, weeks or even months on end. “White police officer guns down poor black man” they cry. Yet, when a white police officer guns down a short, unarmed white female who arguably was trespassing the media refuse to cover it. No mention of the victim’s race is allowed to be spoken, nor is the officer identified. Reports all agree that “the incident was justified.” Case closed. The science is settled.

 Ashli Babbitt is forever dead. And no one cares.

              Conversely, the offending officer in the first case is not only identified, but occasionally has his or her place of residence and personal information disclosed.

              The media, a.k.a. “the enemy of the people,” fiendishly fans the flames of racial hatred to get ratings and advance the leftist narrative and agenda. Tragically, this works, because most Americans are tolerant, empathetic, emotional and ignorant.

              A couple of months ago, Los Angeles-based Skeptic magazine published a survey showing that roughly half of self-described liberal or very liberal respondents believe that 1,000 or more “unarmed black men” are killed by police each year. Over one-third of those respondents believe that the number could be 10,000 or more. Similarly, when people were asked what percentage of those killed by police were black, every group overstated the reality by a factor of 2-4.

              In reality, a total of 18 “unarmed” black people were killed by police in 2020 and 13 in 2019, according to the very liberal Washington Post’s database on police shootings. And several of those were likely not “unarmed.” Moreover, the number of white people fatally shot by police is probably higher on a per capita basis than the number of blacks.  

              The number of black-on-black homicides, however, is astronomical. But no one wants to talk about that, in fact it is verboten to do so in “progressive” company.

              If black lives truly mattered to progressives, this would not be the case.

 

CNN's Jim Acosta Takes Virtue Signaling To A New Level

 

CNN's Jim Acosta recently tweeted out a picture of himself receiving a shot of a coronavirus vaccine, but it clearly wasn’t a spontaneous gesture. The always unsubtle Acosta went for virtue-signaling and self-congratulation in an epic and almost unprecedented way. Incredibly, CNN’s Chief Domestic Correspondent (CDC?) and Newsroom Saturday and Sunday anchor wore a T-shirt listing his 2020 journalistic exploits  to receive his COVID-19 vaccine…and made sure it was clearly readable in his tweet.

The shirt stated: "In 2020, I covered the impeachment trial & a caucus night (that lasted a week) & the primaries & the covid pandemic & the economic crash & the racial justice protests & Lafayette Square & so many rallies & the death of RBG (Justice Rush Bader Ginsburg) & the president's 1AM coronavirus diagnosis & a Supreme Court confirmation & an election night (that lasted a week) & things by tweet & the recounts & the presidential transition & I have a commemorative shirt to prove it."

The man actually virtue-signaled his virtue-signaling. Acosta accompanied the picture with the message, "Just the shot in the arm I needed. The latest studies show the Covid-19 vaccines are highly effective. Please do your part to end this pandemic. Get your shot!"

Maybe everyone who gets vaccinated should put that fact on their shirts, like an “I voted” sticker writ large. In fact, if Democrats have their way, anyone who wishes to vote might have to get vaccinated. So the shirts could read, “I got vaccinated and I voted!”

One might think that, since Democrats don’t believe people should even have to produce an I.D. to vote, it might be hard for them to explain why they would insist that people acquiesce to a government-mandated injection of an unvetted and potentially harmful foreign substance into their bodies to do so.

Except for the fact that so many Americans are the product of Big Academia’s indoctrination centers and the fake news media and appear to be as docile and undiscerning as sheep.

Maybe Acosta is on to something. Who wouldn’t like to read what Donald Trump’s T-shirt would, ahem, trumpet? Or compare Acosta’s shirt to one that George Washington or Abraham Lincoln could have produced. George first: “I helped defeat the largest military on Earth with a ragtag bunch of militia, some of whom had no shoes..and without a navy…in a war that went on for 8 years & founded a nation & became its first president & declined to be king &…” Abe next: “I saved the Union that George founded & emancipated the slaves &…”

Perhaps each of us should put our daily accomplishments on our shirts for all to see. Mine might read something like: “I worked hard today & then went to the store for groceries & then came home and replaced a burnt-out light bulb & ate dinner with my family & asked the kids how their day was & turned on the television but that clown Acosta was on so I quickly changed the channel & then I wrote this post & finally went to bed.”

Should there ever be a vaccine effective in preventing the spread of stupidity, ego-centrism and vapidity, I might be all for it. It might be just the shot in the arm this country needs.

Unfortunately, it’s too late for those in the media like Mr. Acosta and in government like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Masking Our Humanity

 

Recent NPR and Yahoo!News articles addressed the supposed “debate” over whether Americans should continue to wear masks, even after the COVID-19 pandemic is over, in perpetuity, until the sun expires.

The NPR article touched on the fact that it appears illnesses other than COVID-19 have been less prevalent since mask wearing was mandated in most areas of the U.S. due to the coronavirus pandemic. This shouldn’t be a surprise, though it has little or nothing to do with mask wearing. People have been locked down, prevented from going outside and mingling with other humans or even going to their workplaces for longer than the mask mandates have been in effect. Additionally, people have been urged to wash their hands longer and more frequently than most ever did before and to avoid touching their mouth, eyes, nose and ears with their hands. Moreover, everything in every retail outlet and office setting— virtually every public and private space really-- has been disinfected countless times every day and hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes are available everywhere.

The Yahoo!News article was headlined “Should we keep wearing masks after the pandemic ends?” even though not one of the U.S. experts cited advocated for regular mask wearing to outlast the pandemic. In fact, one of the “experts” strongly recommended against continued mask wearing, saying that the drawbacks and risks of so doing, including “annoyance, stunted communication, acne” and the likelihood that “even small amounts of microplastic inhalation” could be detrimental to one’s health, outweigh any possible benefit.

It is hard to fathom that there is any kind of serious debate about perpetual mask wearing. Is permanently giving up our humanity worth the remote possibility that we may catch fewer colds and contract fewer other illnesses? Shall we remain faceless and afraid forever? If so, what will this do to future generations, the development of their brains, outlook, and social skills? It will literally alter what it means to be human. Instead of seeing ourselves as being created in God’s image, we will see ourselves chiefly as potential virus transmitters, spreaders of disease, and objects to be avoided.

Think of the time you first saw your baby smile. The time your spouse first told you he or she loved you. The look on your child’s face after he or she scored the winning goal.

Would Rick and Ilsa’s scenes in “Casablanca” have been just as poignant if they had both been wearing masks?

Would Leonardo Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” painting be just as impactful if she had been wearing a facial diaper? And, if his subjects were wearing a mask, would it have altered our perception of “The last Supper?”

What would Jesus say?

Not that we would hear Him through His mask.

 

President Biden, Vaccines, And The Fourth Of July

 

President Biden recently said that Americans who get vaccinated may well be able to celebrate the Fourth of July, America’s most inclusive and patriotic holiday, in their backyards with a small group of people. He will allow us to do this? He and Kamala and Dr. Fauci? Those of us who’ve been vaccinated would sure like to thank the old massa! Getting together with a few other people in our own backyards to celebrate our amazing freedoms! One question, though: does it have to be our backyards or can we gather in front, too? Did He issue an Executive Order pertaining to this? Too bad the unvaccinated won’t be able to celebrate the Fourth this year (and probably any year), but, hey, its their own damn fault, right? I mean, who in their right mind refuses a government mandate to have an essentially unvetted foreign substance injected into their bloodstream? That is almost tantamount to insurrection, is it not? Dare I even say “treason?” Who knows what’s better for your body, your own person, than the federal government and the Deep State?

I profess I don’t know much about history—I’m no Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Adam Schiff or Cher—but I’m pretty certain that the Continental Army units that fought…I believe it was the British, right?... were able to do so because they had all been vaccinated against flu and malaria, so it was safe to be around each other. And the founders could get together for the Continental Congress and Constitutional Convention because they were all vaccinated, too. (I don’t know if they all wore masks and observed proper social distancing guidelines, but I’m guessing they did).  

So, you can see that we wouldn’t even have the freedoms we enjoy today-- and may get to celebrate on July Fourth-- if it wasn’t for vaccines and our ancestors caution, prudence and observance of experts’ advice. You should have thought about that when you were tempted to complain about lockdowns, “nonessential” jobs, mask mandates, travel restrictions, strict limits on wedding and funeral attendance and such like.

Thanks to President Biden, this year we can go out into our own yards and celebrate the Fourth of July with a handful of family, friends or neighbors this year…if we have been duly vaccinated.

That should make anyone reflect on our freedoms, how they were obtained, and where they come from.

Anyway, I hope you have a happy Fourth of July! Just remember-- sparklers are dangerous, keep at least six feet away from anyone else, wear a mask (or two), and make sure to ask everyone if they’ve been vaccinated before allowing them to gather with you!
