CNBC Airs Incorrect Pictures Of Democratic Presidential Candidates

CNBC recently added to the rapidly growing list of stupefying errors so-called “mainstream” media outlets have been making of late. During the network’s “Squawk Box” program, a graphic showed fundraising numbers for every current presidential candidate. Unfortunately, the pictures above candidates Andrew Yang and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard’s (D-Hawaii) names were of completely different people. CNBC posted an image of Geoff Yang, a Redpoint Ventures founding partner, where one of Andrew Yang’s should have been, and showed a picture of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) instead of one of Rep. Gabbard’s. The network says these were honest mistakes, but supporters of Yang and Gabbard note that both candidates have been serially snubbed by various media outlets in the past. Yang supporters on Twitter say that he has routinely been left off of graphics entirely in favor of worse-performing candidates.
Since some in the media have accused Gabbard of being a Russian asset, perhaps CNBC was just trying to protect her identity, failing to realize she has taken part in previous Democratic debates. If not, well, Gillibrand, Gabbard, they both at least start with a ‘G,’ right? Easy mistake to make…even though Gillibrand quit the 2020 presidential race long ago. And Geoff and Andrew Yang share the very same last name, so who could blame MSDNC MSNBC for confusing the two?!
It won’t be long until we see MSLSD MSNBC put up a graphic purporting to show Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.)…with a picture of former Chief Justice of the United States Earl Warren, who has been dead since 1974. Sorry, Liz! Love you! You can bet CNN will soon put up a graphic of Sen. Michael Bennett (D-CO) with an accompanying picture of Tony Bennett, the 93-year-old iconic American singer of pop standards, and post a picture of “Sen. Corey Booker (D-N.J.)” that bears a striking resemblance to Booker T. Washington. Similarly, I’m sure NBC will (accidentally) show a photo of a box of graham crackers in lieu of a picture of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) during its coverage of the ongoing impeachment process. And will anyone be truly shocked if ABC or CBS exhibits a picture of Colonel Sanders in place of Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT)?
   Fake News. And real incompetence.
