The Obama administration secretly organized an airlift of
$400 million worth of Euros, Swiss francs, and other currencies, that just
happened to coincide with the release of four Americans who had been detained in Tehran for years, according to
U.S. and European officials. The cash was stacked on wooden pallets and was
delivered to Iran in an unmarked cargo
plane under cover of night. Apparently, the United States procured the
money from the central banks of the Netherlands and Switzerland.
The
administration claims the money is the first installment of a $1.7 billion
settlement it reached with Iran to resolve a dispute pertaining to a failed
arms deal signed in 1979, before the
fall of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. This ransom was delivered after Iran captured- and went out of its
way to embarrass- American sailors. The President must have simply thought this
was, after 37 years, the exact right time to make good on that initial
installment! What a coincidence, huh? And this is not long after we agreed to
hand them $150 billion for no known
reason as part of the recently concluded nuclear deal. I dare you to wrap your
mind around that!
The
“Iran-contra scandal” nearly paralyzed the U.S. for months, and almost took down
a tremendously successful president. The infamous “arms for hostages” deal was
literally front page news for many weeks. Congressional hearings were held- and
televised nationally for nights on end- co-opting regular programming. And this
was to cover actions nowhere near as harmful to the U.S. as the twisted antics
of the Obama administration have been in accommodating Iran in its attempt to
acquire nuclear weapons and enhance its sponsorship of terror.
Where
did I find this momentous revelation in my local “newspaper?” On page 5 of the
“A” section in its “World and National News” shorts. The editors saw fit to
dedicate one paragraph of text to
this stunning story. By contrast, what was on the front page, above the fold? The headline read, “Obama: Trump not
fit to be president.” The sub-heading? “The president said the GOP nominee
lacks knowledge about basic foreign policy.” A stupefying juxtaposition. Trump lacks basic foreign policy
knowledge? You can’t make this up!
This is
as if Neville Chamberlain accused his opponents of lacking foreign policy
acumen. Did the mass media ever say the same thing about Barack Obama,
community organizer?
