Smokescreens (An Exclusive Opinion)

 

According to Newsweek, “Thousands of people living across a swath of southern California have been urged to avoid grilling, burning incense and using gasoline-powered garden tools by the National Weather Service (NWS) amid a series of air quality alerts for fine particle pollution.”

So, due to wildfire smoke-- caused largely by liberal man’s dumb-ass policies-- from fires consuming tens or hundreds of thousands of acres or more, the National Weather Service or some such agency gets to tell us not to grill…or burn incense? Are there millions of folks incessantly burning incense of which I’m unaware? If so, they’re likely Lefties, too. No government entity should be able to tell us we can’t grill a burger, light a match, or till our gardens because there are fires raging somewhere else. Fires that have been raging for months and months, in Canada’s case.

In Minnesota, during the frequent periods when toxic Canadian wildfire smoke has invaded the state, there are highway signs everywhere saying, “Air Quality Alert—Consider Reducing Trips.” No! You don’t get to tell us that, you asshats! Our cars have absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the area is choked with dense smoke, to the ground, and the fact that we can’t see more than half a mile ahead of us. It is toxic smoke from massive and long out-of-control conflagrations in northern and western Canada. What of that do you clowns not understand?! We shouldn’t have to consider not going in to work because the progressive morons in control of Canada (or California) can’t—or won’t—douse their bleeping fires, citizens and neighbors alike be damned.

A more accurate and effective sign would be placed on the Canadian border facing north and state: “Consider putting out your bleeping fires…or risk being annexed by the United States.”

Or perhaps: “Consider moving to Texas or Florida if you’d like to keep your health and avoid lung cancer.”

Or even: “Consider taking up smoking. It’s really not going to make a difference anymore.”

But don’t blow smoke up our asses. And don’t tell us we can’t drive, grill, or even tend our garden or meditate. It’s beginning to look like COVID-1984 all over again.

Let’s pray all this smoke goes away soon.

Canadian Prime Minister Eschews Free Speech, Embraces Tyranny

 

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney utilized an August 5 press conference in British Columbia to summarily dismiss concerns over Liberal legislation (Bill C-18) preventing news outlets from sharing news on social media, particularly during emergencies. The Canadian Commie globalist didn’t just refuse to rescind the aforementioned Bill C-18. No siree, he also urged his fellow Canucks to rely on government-funded CBC News for fair and unbiased information.

In light of the fact that heads of government steadfastly refuse to tell the truth, I have taken it upon myself to translate Carney’s statement to more accurately reflect his actual meaning and beliefs:

“Comrades, trust me, the CBC is a reliable and highly credible news source that is as honest as our glorious revolution is long. And remember, unfettered free speech is the hallmark of a depraved and chaotic society, and invites input from those that don’t value the revolution above all.”

This despite the fact that many objective observers deem the CBC to be a propaganda arm of the Liberal Party, from which it receives the vast majority of its funding. Similar to the mainstream media’s relationship to the Democrat Party in the United States.

But quashing free speech and association isn’t enough for the Carney government. Perish the thought! The ruling Liberal Party is also encouraging “LGBTQI+” refugees to move to Canada by offering them taxpayer-funded income for up to 12 months in addition to various other programs. Turns out, the Babylon Bee’s allegedly satiric post referencing President Trump’s desire to annex Canada and label it “Gay North Dakota” was spot-on. (Corollary: it’s shocking how many “conspiracy theories” have turned out to be facts.)

So, once again, you have a Western nation trashing its own citizens and traditions in favor of foreigners, especially those with sexual kinks. The Great Replacement Theory is not a theory, but an ongoing plan that is nearing fruition in some areas.

Whoa, Canada!

The West At Twilight

 

According to a report in The Christian Post,

“British police are facing heavy scrutiny after they threatened to arrest a Christian preacher after a group of Muslims heard him preach and threatened to stab him and punch his wife. The incident occurred in Bristol when Pastor Dia Moodley was preaching in the city center. Moodley was talking about the differences between Islam and Christianity and was holding a Quran as he did so. In response, he says a Muslim bystander threatened to stab him, while another tried to punch his wife. Moodley said he was then pinned to the ground by the Muslims who tried to steal his Quran on the grounds that it was their book rather than his.”

By that logic, the pastor could have replied that Bristol was his city, not the Muslim bystanders.

The report went on to note, “when the police appeared, they did nothing to reprimand the Muslims, and the man who made the stabbing threats allegedly continued to threaten him in the presence of the police.” Worse yet, police officers reportedly told Moodley—on two occasions-- that he could be arrested for “public order offences.”

On the positive side, the threatened stabbing of Pastor Moodley and the attempted assault on his wife made the difference between Islam and Christianity quite clear.

This is what happens when speech is policed and crime isn’t.

This is what happens when leftists have power. This is what’s happening to Europe and Canada…and in several large American cities. And it is both a “moral inversion” (as Melanie Phillips has so aptly termed it) and a logical perversion. It is also a moral perversion and logical inversion.

And so you get British wanker coppers (as Mark Steyn often refers to them) essentially saying things like, “Stop using your torso to assault the Muslim man’s knife!”

In this Depraved New World, fictitious reports like the following are becoming all-too real:

*Police recently arrested a 16-year-old English woman who was resisting her Middle Eastern rapist. The woman unconscionably refused to let the 25-year-old Pakistani serially rape, abuse, and torture her. The would-be rapist, a London resident and devoted husband and family man, said that his intended victim’s actions made him feel “marginalized, unwelcome and unseen.” Representatives of the Starmer government promptly decried the young women’s actions and reached out to the man in support. Several United States Democrats did the same, with at least two of them offering to take the sadly traumatized Pakistani out for dinner and drinks, the latter non-alcoholic of course.

Most Americans-- perhaps especially Christians-- treat others as individuals, no matter their religion, race, or whatever. Whereas Islam teaches its adherents to treat all non-Muslims as “infidels” who must be converted, enslaved, or killed.

For those properly surveying the passing scene, the only question left is this one: will Europe (Old World) and America (New World) wake up in time to stop their respective slides into the twin despotisms/horrors of radical secularism and militant Islam, or will they devolve into chaos, destitution and depravity? In other words, will the West surrender without a fight…or will there be a Devolutionary War, hopefully a cold one?

Most of Europe seems to be on the very brink, in its 11^th hour, whereas the United States under President Trump appears in a bit better shape. That said, true Marxists and/or radical Islamists are potentially on the verge of becoming mayors of big cities such as New York, Minneapolis, and Seattle.

As Steyn often says, “demography is destiny.”

As I often say, “you get what you tolerate.”

What will happen? Where does this end? I’m not Nostradamus.

I’m not optimistic, either.

For the simple fact that almost all governments are utterly corrupt. And the bigger they are, the more corrupt. There are virtually no historical examples to refute this claim. If the people are to prevail, power must be returned to local governments and entities. The only viable—sustainable, moral, and fruitful—way forward is to eschew globalism and “one world government.” And to return to limited government…of, by, and for the people.

Where have I heard that before?

 

Man In France Imprisoned For Burning A Qur'an

 

This past June, a Turkish dissident in Britain was fined for burning a Qur’an. And now French-language CNews has reported that “a man was sentenced this Wednesday by the Lyon Criminal Court to one year in prison for burning a Quran in front of a mosque in Villeurbanne (Rhône) last June.” One full year in prison for burning a book.

You see, there is a corollary to the two-tier justice system that prevails in much of the West these days: a two-tier torching system. Some things you can burn, and some things you can’t. Well, actually, there is only one thing you can’t burn.

In the U.S.-- and most of the West-- you can burn off steam, burn through your money, get burned out or burned to a crisp, burn something up, burn something down, burn someone in effigy, or burn rubber. You can experience a slow burn, burn the midnight oil, or burn the candle at both ends.

You can burn your bra, the American flag, your draft card, and even bridges, cities, and Bibles.

But you can’t burn a Qur’an-- at least without facing fines, imprisonment…or death.

Because, unlike the Bible, which instructs us to “love your neighbor as yourself,” the Qur’an instructs Muslims to convert, enslave, or kill infidels.

And too many in the West willfully misconstrue both messages. Christians and the hyper-secular alike tend to not only tolerate, but venerate, those that would destroy them and their societies.

We have been woke. But now it’s time to wake up.

 

Canadian Wildfires May Be Impossible To Extinguish

The Albany Times Union headline read, “Not so easy: Dousing the Canadian wildfires may not be possible.”

It may not be possible to put out the Canadian wildfires?! Humans learned how to fly. Americans and Canadians have won two World Wars. Mankind has been to the moon and sent unmanned craft around the solar system-- and beyond. And Canada can’t put out a fire? Humans invented fire—or the planned use of it—around 800,000 years ago. Almost concurrently, they learned how to extinguish it. No matter the scope and location of today’s fires, it is surpassingly strange that we can’t put them out 800,000 years later.

The Times Union article went on to sanguinely note: “There is apparently little that can be done to stop or prevent the out-of-control wildfires tearing through much of northwest Canada - some engulfing over 250,000 acres. These fires can’t be stopped…or even prevented?!

Apparently, there are no roads or infrastructure in many of the remote areas where these fires are burning. And, according to Paige Fischer, an associate professor at the University of Michigan School of Environment and Sustainability, "There aren't areas where people are actively managing forests."

So there clearly are things that could be done to extinguish and even prevent the fires: construct the necessary infrastructure and actively manage the forests. Imagine that!

Fischer added that almost two-thirds of the fires in Canada are ignited by lightning-- and that those fires tend to be by far the most destructive. She also noted that Canadian forests include the Black Spruce tree “which is a flammable species.” She further stated that the presence of lighting and flammable species is outside the country's control and thus complex to manage.

Guess what? We have Black Spruce trees in the U.S., from Minnesota to the New England states. And more lightning strikes per square mile annually in much of the country, as well. So we have wildfires, too. We just don’t say “there is absolutely no way we can put them out.” And we do manage forests in order to prevent massive, endless conflagrations.

Moreover, the Times Union piece noted that N.Y. state Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Amanda Lefton recently said that she is unaware of any Canadian requests for assistance in fighting the more than 700 Canuck wildfires, while also noting that the state has deployed firefighting resources to other states in the U.S. Guess they asked for help.

Of course, numerous authorities and experts have cited the allegedly increasingly hot and dry summers due to climate change as another reason for prolonged wildfires. I thought global warming was supposed to lead to increasingly wet weather. Oh well, whatever.

Memo to authorities and experts: If the temperature in northern Saskatchewan is, say, 77 degrees Fahrenheit instead of 75 degrees Fahrenheit, due to man-caused global warming, that doesn’t make a fire any more likely, nor any more aggressive. Anyone who is an aficionado of bonfires can tell you that. (And don’t try to tell me that the allegedly 1.4 degree Fahrenheit increase in average global temperature in the past 145 years has resulted in significantly more lightning strikes over Canada.)

Some of the Canadian wildfires are man-caused, as they are deliberately set by arsonists. And they are man-caused in other ways, too, but not because of global warming/climate change/any change in the weather is due to man’s actions. They are man-caused because Canada will not take the steps necessary to douse them…or prevent them. Period.

As a result, the United States—extremely unusually-- has recently had some of the world’s worst air quality.

Like a good bad neighbor, Canada is there.

 

 

A Two-Tier Injustice System

 

According to LifeSiteNews: “A Christian doctor in Australia was found guilty of professional misconduct, not for substandard patient care, but because he had previously shared social media posts critical of abortion, LGBT ideology, and COVID-19 policies. Dr. Jereth Kok was suspended over six years ago and lost his career.” 

His suspension was recently upheld by something called ‘the Victorian Civil and Administration Tribunal’ (VCAT), which decided that many of his online social media posts over a 12-year period were examples of “misconduct” under the National Law. Not fond of the mass murder of the unborn? What kind of ‘doctor’ are you? That’s misconduct! Remember doctors’ creed: “first, do grievous harm!” Wait, that might not be it. Anyway, I think it is summed up in the Hypocritical Hippocratic Oath, whatever that is.

Question: do we really think the good doctor would have been suspended for lauding Obama Care or criticizing President Trump? Trump’s tariffs? Would he have lost his career if he had used social media to, say, pick a bone with Christians?

In a similar vein, Michael Weitzel, a Trump supporter, was recently made to leave a professional soccer game in St. Louis due to his "Make America Great Again" baseball cap. You see, the venue touts itself as “nonpolitical” and supposedly eschews political messages of any kind. At the time, the stadium was flying gay pride flags.

Would Weitzel-- or anyone else-- have been booted from the stadium for wearing an “I’m with her” tee-shirt? For sporting a “Biden 2024” button? Or even for wearing a hat stating, “Globalize the intifada?” (Perhaps in PRIDE! colors!) Odds are there was a Palestinian flag or two in the crowd, as well.

A two-tier justice system sadly prevails in the U.S. today. Meaning there is often no justice for those on the bottom tier: whites, males, heterosexuals, Christians, conservatives. Check all of those boxes? You are obviously a fascist…and proud of it. And probably wear American Eagle jeans. Intersectionality!

Speaking of the so-called ‘justice’ system, federal district court judges continue to rule against the Trump administration’s agenda—and, ironically and hypocritically, in stark defiance of United States Supreme Court orders. This is nothing short of illogical, and lawless, tyranny.

The founders were deeply concerned about the possibility of judicial tyranny. Thomas Jefferson stated: "The opinion which gives to the judges the right to decide what laws are constitutional and what not, not only for themselves in their own sphere of action, but for the legislative and executive also in their spheres, would make the judiciary a despotic branch.”

Jefferson also noted that "…judges should be withdrawn from the bench whose erroneous biases are leading to dissolution. It may, indeed, injure them in fame or fortune; but it saves the Republic…"

Indeed.

 

 

The ICC Threatens Hungary For Not Arresting Benjamin Netanyahu

 

According to the Associated Press, “A panel of judges at the International Criminal Court (ICC) reported Hungary to the court’s oversight organization for failing to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when he visited Budapest in April, saying the move undercut the court’s ability to bring suspects to justice.”

Hungary withdrew from the ICC in April, making it the only European Union nation not currently swearing fealty to the leftist international tribunal…and simultaneously making it the only sane country in the EU.

The ICC is located in The Hague, which is, coincidentally or not, also the capital of the EU. This makes The Hague arguably on par with Washington, DC, as bastions of global government thought…and dens of iniquity.

Essentially, the ICC thinks it can arrest anyone it doesn’t care for. That’s unilateralism. That’s globalism in its ugliest form. Who among us is safe? That is the opposite of democracy.

Israel is the ultimate David. It is a barely noticeable speck on a map, surrounded by a number of vast Muslim states. Israel is smaller than Vermont or New Hampshire. And it just suffered its greatest ever loss on October 7, 2023, when thousands of innocent Israelis were killed, injured, or tortured at a music festival.

If the ICC wants to flout its power by trying individuals for genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, or aggression, it should start with members of Hamas. Or the Ayatollah Khomeini. Or perhaps Hillary Clinton, John Brennan, James Clapper, Peter Strzok, James Comey, Robert Mueller, Alejandro Mayorkas, and Barack Obama. There can’t be any greater crime against humanity than immediately and incessantly trying to overturn the will of the people of the United States and aggressively framing the sitting president via outright lies and preposterous falsehoods.

If the ICC was around during World War II, would it have tried and convicted, say, Winston Churchill or George Patton? FDR? Monty? Ike? If so, the ICC itself would have been responsible for countless deaths, suffering, and the spread of totalitarianism.

The ICC, in its current iteration, favors Hamas over Israel, radical Democrats over President Trump, and terror-sponsoring nations over the United States. In a truly just world, members of the ICC itself would be threatened with arrests, trials and convictions.

Local government, education, and beer are all better than national versions. Just sayin’.

 

CNN's Erin Burnett Engages In "Possibly Yellow" Journalism

 

According to reports, a man recently entered NFL headquarters in New York City and killed one NYPD officer and three civilians in cold blood…before taking his own life. The man, Shane Tamura, 27, left behind a suicide note in which he blamed the NFL for an allegedly football-related brain injury — despite the fact that he had not played football since high school. The note stated, “Please study brain for CTE. I’m sorry. The league knowingly concealed the dangers to our brains to maximize profits. They failed us.”

Of course, the media did what the media does, and blamed gun culture and football (toxic masculinity!) for the deadly attack. The media was as off-target as Tamura, who was an office over from NFL headquarters when he perpetrated his crime.

In a truly egregious act of rank speculation (and hope), CNN reporter Erin Burnett originally posited, on air, that the perpetrator was “possibly white.” Double check those sources. Nail the facts down before commenting. No bias here, only solid and ethical ‘journalism’ for the mainstream media, right? Ready. FIRE! Aim. “Possibly white?” If you don’t know the facts, the perp could’ve “possibly” been black, green, Hindu, trans, Pisces…or identified as a mollusk. What the hell?! It is quite apparent that Burnett wanted the murderer to be white, in the same way that some in the media get visibly aroused when Democrats get elected or bad things happen to conservatives. (See also: Chris Matthews says Obama speech gave him a “thrill up his leg.”)

Frankly, I’m surprised Burnett didn’t also say-- before knowing anything-- that the gunman was, “Likely a toxically masculine, heterosexual Christian who probably watches Fox News and Newsmax. And who almost certainly likes J.K. Rowling and has a ‘My Pillow.’”

Is it just me, or does it appear that there many instances of grievous brain damage amongst members of the mainstream media? Or is it just cowardice, a craven unwillingness to deviate from the Deep State’s agenda?

In either case, we need to tackle this problem head-on. No helmets or pads, and no excuses.

 

Minnesota: Not So Nice Anymore

               “Minnesota: come for the high taxes, stay for the road construction!”

In case you can’t tell, I am working on a new tourism slogan for the North Star State. Another one: “Minnesota: come for the mosquitoes and zebra mussels, stay for the insane leftist policies!” No? How about: “Minnesota: come for the deer ticks/Lyme disease, stay for the incredibly bad weather!” That doesn’t float your boat, either?

Speaking of boats, Minnesota has a ton of them, atop many of its 10,000 (actually 11,842) lakes. It is a physically diverse and beautiful state. Some of its vistas are breathtaking. The air used to be clean-- prior to the toxic Canadian wildfire smoke that is now ubiquitous-- and the fishing is great. And yet…

It now appears possible, if not likely, that a radical Muslim Marxist will soon be mayor of Minneapolis, the state’s biggest city. The once vibrant town that was called “The City of Lakes” is now “The City of Leftists.” The Twin Cities area is host to a large and growing population of Muslims. Yet it also sports one of the largest LGBTQ communities in the United States. Something will have to give there, sometime. And now the always liberal city seems to be on its way to being overrun with Marxists. Is it not bad enough that it sparked the George Floyd riots?

Minnesota was once the land of “Minnesota Nice,” where people could live “the good life” as per a Time Magazine cover with the then governor Wendel Anderson pictured in a boat holding up a northern pike.

And now it is known for Rep. Ilhan Omar and Gov. ‘Tampon’ Timmy Walz. Moreover, it is an abortion sanctuary, a transgender sanctuary, and an illegal alien sanctuary. That is an immoral trifecta if I’ve ever seen one.

So speaking of zebra mussels—and in keeping with the hyper-inclusive ‘sanctuary’ theme-- I propose the governor officially and proudly pronounce the state to be an ‘invasive species sanctuary.’

“Minnesota: come for the Eurasian milfoil and round goby, stay for Omar Fateh and Ilhan Omar!”

U.S. Representative Says Her Priority Is Developing "Our Country Of Somalia"

 

Rep. Deqa Dhalac (D-ME), a Somali immigrant, recently stated that her priority is developing “our country of Somalia.” Say what?!

“Our country of Somalia?!” Yes, forget about serving the American citizens who pay your salary…or at least put their interests on the back burner. What really matters is that you focus on Somalia. Is that even Constitutional? I thought government Representatives were supposed to support and defend the (American) Constitution, not commit themselves to helping out the nations from which they hail.

Dhalac routinely refers to Somalia as “our country,” and is deeply involved in far-left politics, often advocating for policies that are anathema to conservatives and that undermine American values. Unsurprisingly, she is vehemently anti-border enforcement. Moreover, she pushed to create Maine’s “Office of New Americans,” which was founded to expand resources for immigrants and non-citizens—and, like Dhalac, is funded by taxpayers. In short, there doesn’t appear to be a progressive or far-left cause she does not support, especially those involving “undocumented migrants.”

Many folks speak of the “Uniparty” when frustrated that campaign promises were broken, or that typically spineless Republicans have once again compromised with Democrats to the nation’s detriment. Or when it appears that there is a two-tiered justice system, one for members of the Uniparty, and one for the rest of us. I have often done so myself. But, in this case, there is a distinct difference between the vast majority of Republicans and the vast majority of Democrats—or at least between conservatives and “progressives” or “Democratic-Socialists.” The former groups want to make America great again, while the latter ones seem far more focused on making, say, Somalia or Palestine great for the first time. American citizens be damned. Since Democrats singular motivation is their desire to attain and enhance their own power, we must posit that they believe undocumented immigrants and non-citizens will soon be the voting block that guarantees them perpetual rule.

This is why I.C.E deportations and the Trump administration’s border and immigration policies drive them absolutely batsh*t crazy. I am far from the first to state that the West is at a pivot point. An existential crossroads. We are poised on the edge of an abyss, a Rubicon we mustn’t cross. The great Mark Steyn has been warning us about this for years. And still is.

The natives (of the U.S., England, Denmark, and other nations), as they say, are finally getting restless. They are tired of paying for those non-natives who too often don’t want to assimilate-- and too often commit crimes. It seems like a battle is looming. Let’s hope it is a figurative one.

In any case, it is one that must be won. Else we will one day wake up and find we are living in “our country of Somalia.” Or “our country of Syria”-- Guatemala, Kosovo, Eritrea, Nigeria, etc.
