During
a recent interview with MS Now’s Chris Hayes, Rep. Ilhan Omar (DSA-MN) was asked about the persistent “rumors”
that she had married her biological brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in a
likely attempt to allow him to emigrate to the U.S. Hayes asked Omar, “Who was this man that was your husband?
When did they start saying that he was your brother? Why?” Omar nervously
chuckled and replied, “It started with the Somali blog that I don’t know if it
still exists, but somebody put him there that, you know, that he had to have
been my brother or something to that effect, and right-wing conspiracy
theorists in Minneapolis got a hold of it.”
There are right-wing conspiracy
theorists in Minneapolis? There are a great many left-wing conspiracy theorists
in the City of Flakes Lakes, but right-wing ones are an endangered
species, if not already extinct.
Then Hayes actually asked a follow-up question:
“You were not related to him at all? There’s not some weird kernel of truth?”
To which Omar replied, "not to my knowledge.” Oh, brother.
Not to my knowledge? Not to my knowledge?!
That’s what one might say if asked, “has any family member ever had COVID?” Or,
“does your home have any mildew in it?” One does not answer “not to my
knowledge” when asked if one has married a brother. (Could be that 68 IQ thing
kicking in again.)
This is as if a person was asked questions such
as, “have you ever had an arm or a leg amputated,” “have you ever slept with an
elephant,” “have you ever had a baby,” or even “have you ever had an elephant
baby while an appendage of yours was being amputated” and answered with “Not
to my knowledge.” Call me a skeptic, but I’m going to have to assert bullshit
on that reply. I mean, these are things that-- I think most of us would agree--
would be exceedingly hard to forget.
I personally
can’t claim to know for certain whether Omar married her biological brother or
not. But I do know that she is clearly not married to the truth, transparency,
or decency.
