Who Are We Memorializing? And Why?

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Freybaby was on the receiving end of some extraordinarily well-deserved criticism recently over a social media post remembering George Floyd, whose Memorial Day death six years ago triggered nationwide protests and riots, as well as calls to defund law enforcement agencies.

Frey took to X to write: "Today, we remember George Floyd, who was murdered by a former Minneapolis police officer six years ago. That moment changed our city forever." Much like Frey himself did…and not for the better. Floyd, a nearly life-long criminal who once held a gun to a pregnant woman’s abdomen, actually died of a drug overdose. But facts don’t matter when you’re trying to frame someone to support your narrative, so Minneapolis decided to change the life of one of its police officers forever. One person stands no chance against The Narrative.

As any sentient person would surmise, Minnesota Gov. Tampon Timmy Walz also eschewed his scheduled Memorial Day duties and elected to party with the Floyd Crowd. For his part, illustrious Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison was captured on camera steadfastly refusing to clap for veterans as they arrived on an Honor Flight to visit memorials in Washington, D.C.

Could a Minnesotan be prouder?

I mean, why waste one’s time honoring recent combat veterans, World War II heroes, bygone Civil War amputees, or the likes of George Washington when you could spend your time celebrating a career criminal and his attendant misogyny and drug addiction?

There is one incontrovertible lesson here: Democrats detest law-abiding citizens—and military veterans—but are pro-crime and pro-criminal. Bigly.

A question for so-called “independents”: how long do you think a society will last if led by such people?
