Washington Elementary School Denies Prayer Club, Okays LGBTQ Club

Recently, an 11-year-old student of Creekside Elementary School in Washington state petitioned her school to start an interfaith prayer club, as a way for her—and her schoolmates-- to feel more connected, less alone. Her request was denied. The school’s principal told the student and her mother that the school’s budget for clubs had been finalized back in October.

They subsequently discovered that an LGBTQ club was approved only a week prior to the student’s request for an interfaith prayer club being denied. An LGBTQ club for an elementary school.

Gay “PRIDE!” yes. Prayer no. Kinda sums up the culture in which we now live.

That subtle noise you hear? It’s George Washington, the school’s namesake, turning over in his grave.
