Denver Public Schools recently recruited a “celebrity”
drag queen to serve as a crossing guard
for the day. According to the district’s social media post, Dixie Krystals, a
drag entertainer for over 20 years, was brought on by the school district to take
part in “Walk and Roll to School” day. Krystals, who has previously appeared on
the Discovery+ show “Generation Drag,” was one of the celebrities enlisted to
assist with crossing guard duties in honor of Pedestrian Safety Month. Superintendent
“Dr.” Alex Marrero and Democratic Colorado Senator John Hickenlooper also
were present for the event.
I have a hard time believing there are this many drag-queens. They
are now ubiquitous, omnipresent, everywhere. Parades, schools, libraries, churches, restaurants, grand-openings, ribbon-cuttings, bars,
bar mitzvahs…everywhere one looks, there is a drag-queen.
Unbeknownst to me, are there academies
somewhere that crank out drag-queens like a LGBTQ Pez-dispenser on steroids?
Because, if there are not, they must be sorely overworked!
They should unionize-- and demand a cap
to the number of hours and days they work, and a limit to the number of events
they attend and shows they put on in a day.
And why are there so many drag-queens and
virtually no drag-kings?
