Iran Accidentally Sinks Its Own Battleship

Iran accidentally sunk its own battleship, the Konarak, recently, when a C-802 Noor anti-ship cruise missile was inadvertently fired from the frigate Jamaran, according to ELINT News. The friendly fire incident occurred during a military exercise and likely killed dozens of servicemen.
Oops. Hate it when that happens. “Doggone it fellas, the exercise was going pretty good until…we sank our battleship!”
This is not the first faux pas this year for Iran’s military. Back in January Iranian forces mistakenly shot down a Ukrainian passenger airliner, apparently believing it was an American military jet. The regime said the act was “unintentional” and expressed its “regret” at the “unforgivable mistake.” All 176 people on board were killed.
The needless loss of life in both instances is indeed “regrettable,” but at least this time the regime accidentally attacked its own forces.
More than one country in the Middle East is privately amused.
