The Green Bay Packers released a
statement Tuesday asking their fans to participate in their showing of
support for the recent NFL #TakeaKnee protests before Thursday night’s game at
Lambeau Field: “Join
us this Thursday by locking arms with whoever you’re with, stranger or loved
one, wherever you are—intertwined and included—in this moment of unification.”
It also stated: “Let’s work together to build a society that is more fair and
just.”
Think about that for a moment. On the surface, some of the words sound nice, but the team effectively
asked its fans to side with it- and the NFL at large- over their "unfair" and "unjust" country. “Join
with us” the Packers pled…in solidarity with our amazing athletes! As if
loyalty to a professional sports league should somehow supersede loyalty to
one’s country… the country that spawned the league. As if the league were a
worthier entity than the nation as a whole.
“Yes,
yes, we know about the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, the
Civil War, Abraham Lincoln, World War II, etc., etc. That’s all well and good,
but did you see our game against the Falcons last week? That’s what I’m talkin’ ‘bout!”
The
National Felons League trots out its wealthy, entitled thugs to chase a pigskin
around in tax-payer funded stadiums that cost more to build than the GDP of
many small nations and are owned by even wealthier entitled thugs. It expects
us to give its players all due respect when they go out of their way to disrespect
our National Anthem and flag.
And now it asks its fans to side with the league in its dispute with America?!
Apparently, it’s not just its players that have brain damage.
“The NFL- it’s not just for entertainment
anymore!”
