Popes And Change

Pope Benedict XVI, on December 19th, 2012, asserted that the campaign for granting gays the right to marry was an “attack” on the traditional family consisting of a father, mother and children. He issued a strong denunciation of how people today are manipulating their sex and gender to alter their God-given nature. Benedict also issued a repudiation of gay marriage in one of his annual peace messages, saying gay marriage, like abortion and euthanasia, was a threat to world peace.
“Those who insufficiently value human life, and in consequence, support among other things the liberalization of abortion perhaps do not realize that in this way they are proposing the pursuit of a false peace,” since peace presupposes protecting the weakest, he wrote in a previous message.
Ladies and gentlemen, that was one pope ago! The current Pope, Francis, spends much of his time and verbiage attacking the most fruitful, beneficial and liberating economic system the world has ever known. (That would have greatly dismayed Pope John Paul II). And, when asked about gay marriage and the like, responds “Who am I to judge?”
The progressive, aggressive cultural elite have used their control of academia and the media to drive the change of society’s norms and values so fast that it is literally hard to keep up. Sadly, most people and organizations are trying to do so, in order to be seen as tolerant, “hip”…and “cool.”

               Now even Popes are, too.

What will the Pope tolerate, condone and espouse just thirty years from now?

What will that say about us and where will that leave us?
