There are four ways money can be sent.
You can spend your own money on yourself, or you can spend your own money on
others (think: buying Christmas gifts).
Alternatively, government can take a
percentage of your money, through force of penalty, and spend it on you. At
least sort of. You may not be thrilled with what you get in return but, hey,
don’t be a spoilsport.
Or, government can take your money and
spend it on other people. This is the least effective and efficient, because nobody
really cares how other people’s money is spent on other people,
least of all those in government. But that’s what government does… in incomprehensible
amounts and ways. And most of those in government certainly don’t care
where this—your-- money goes, except
in so far as they can try to get as much of it for themselves as
possible. If they can use it to bribe folks to vote for them and keep/enhance
their power, or line their own pockets with it, then they care. If not, not so
much.
This is a long-standing truism. The
question is will we the people finally demand accountability. And, if we don’t,
why the hell not? What does it say about us if we don’t care if our “public
servants” ignore our will and rob us blind? Nothing good, obviously.
I’ve had more than enough of bribes,
kickbacks, payola, slush funds, bought-and-paid-for politicians, corrupt
government, and fraudulent businesses and charities.
And there is an even more sinister
development: whether it is COVID-19 lockdowns and fraud, Jan. 6 Committee
deceit, Crossfire-Hurricane attempts to destroy a political opponent, or
staggeringly rampant Somali fraud…no one has yet been held accountable.
How can this be? How?!! Why are our “leaders” ignoring or rewarding evil? Scarier
still, they’re not really even trying hard to hide this anymore!
Are they really more afraid of being
labeled “racist,” “bigoted,” or “heartless” than they are opposed to screwing
the American citizens they are supposedly sworn to serve? Are they more afraid
of, say, Somalis then the wrath of those American citizens? Or do they simply
believe long-term demographic trends favor them to the point that they don’t
care what Mr. and Mrs. Middle America think about…anything?
If so, we have to change their minds
if we are to “save our representative republic” and prevent government
of the people, by the people, for the people from perishing from the earth.
Are we up to the task?
Truthfully, at this point, it doesn’t
seem likely.
