Capitol Hill
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi
(D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) introduced a new
coronavirus relief bill earlier today that would mandate that all Republicans
self-quarantine and shelter-in-place “indefinitely.” After formal presentation
of the legislation, Speaker Pelosi said, “This much needed bill would provide
the social-distancing we need, protecting our Republican friends even as we
Democrats selflessly and courageously expose ourselves to disease here in
Congress while we continue to conduct the nation’s vital business for the good
of the people.”
The bill would also “ban the
gathering of more than five conservatives in any one general location in
perpetuity/until the end of time,” so that they “don’t infect college campuses,
media outlets or polling places.”
Pelosi and Schumer also strongly
suggested it would be “best for the country” to have a national lockdown put in
place until Monday, November 2nd.
