So-called “comedian” Kathy Griffin recently participated in
a photo shoot in which she posed with the pseudo severed head of President
Donald Trump. Griffin, pictured stoically holding up the very bloody visage,
joins the legion of “entertainers,” “educators,” and media types who have in
some way involved themselves with the possible decapitation of the current
president.
Ms.
Griffin is now realizing that one tends to reap what one sows. CNN has cut her
from its annual New Year’s Eve broadcast which she co-hosted with Anderson
Cooper for the past decade. The network originally waffled, calling her stunt
“disgusting and offensive” but not severing relations with her until a day had
passed. Even the Church of Satan
disavowed her quicker than that. In response to a tweet from @Cernovich
stating, “CNN has yet to issue a statement about Satanic-ISIS death threats [?]
made by its employee Kathy Griffin. Contact their advertisers!” it responded:
“Please do not include us in this.”
President
Trump ripped Griffin, saying she “should be ashamed of herself.” He also
claimed his 11-year-old son, Barron, is “having a hard time with this,” and
originally may have thought it was real.
Griffin
was filmed mocking the coming reaction to the photo shoot during the photo shoot, making it clear she knew it wasn’t just a
harmless prank. She has none-the-less apologized now that her pocketbook has
been bruised along with her feelings, stating: “I am sorry. I went too far. I
was wrong.”
Despite
the fallout, former comedian and current Senator Al Franken said he still plans
to appear with Griffin at an event slated to take place on July 7th
at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, in Beverly Hills,
California.
Maybe
we should all give her the benefit of
the doubt.
Maybe
she just temporarily lost her head.
