Rob Reiner, famous Hollywood director and inveterate boob,
lashed out against president Trump recently, while also drawing harsh
comparisons between alleged Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential
election and the 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that killed 2,403
Americans. Really.
Appearing
on MSNBC, Reiner contended that normalizing the 2016 presidential election
would be fraught with danger. He said, “This is not normal. We’ve had the
greatest attack on this democracy since 1941, and we have to understand that.”
Earth
to Rob, no one was physically harmed in this ‘attack,’ if there was one, unlike
the attack we suffered at the hands of radical Islamic terrorists on September
11th, 2001, where approximately 3,000 innocent men, women and
children- of all ethnicities and religions- were killed.
‘Meathead’
continued his assault, saying: “The press is under attack by the president
calling it ‘fake news,’ there’s another pillar of our democracy under attack.”
He then pondered whether or not “these institutions” would “remain intact in
order for our democracy to survive,” prior to saying that he didn’t know the
answer to that question.
I can
answer that question for you, Mr. Reiner. If you and your Hollywood friend’s
‘values’ and preferred policy agendas hold sway, our democratic Republic will
not long survive. If your disdain for traditional American values is
normalized, the world will soon become a sadder and darker place.
