According to the U.K.’s Express online newspaper, former
president Barack Obama was paid the equivalent of over $3 million for his
recent speech to the Global Food Innovation Summit in Milan, Italy. Three million dollars! Obama flew into the
Italian business capital on a private jet and was promptly ensconced in the
ultra-ritzy Park Hyatt Hotel, where accommodations can cost up to $9,000 a
night, according to local media. His posse of approbative aiders and abettors
took over two floors of the famous hotel, after arriving via a 14-car-convoy, which
also sported a helicopter and a 300-strong police escort that nearly brought
the city to a standstill.
Mr.
Obama gave his short speech at Seeds and
Chips, a conference focusing on the impact that technology, innovation and
climate change will have on food availability and production worldwide.
I have
an innovative idea: why don’t we re-direct the staggering sums of money that
the Global Food Innovation Summit officials threw at ex-community organizer and
vile hypocrite Barack Obama towards feeding those whose lives might actually
depend on the success of an entity like Global Food Innovation.
If
Obama beatifically bloviated for an hour
and a half, or even had heroically touted his own superior concern for the
have-nots of the world for two full hours, that would make him the recipient of
a one-and-a-half-million-dollar-an-hour wage rate, if the early online reports
were accurate. That’s substantially more than the minimum $15-an-hour rate
contemporaries in his own party are pushing for, isn’t it? Why, that would put
his earnings far above even those of the “one-percent.”
Instead of obscenely rewarding a former
president- who consistently bashed the rich- for flapping his jaws, perhaps the
money he received for making a relatively brief speech could have been better
utilized to feed thousands of starving people for a year.
If there were justice in this
world, Obama would put his money where their mouths are.
