The Washington Post- and the media in general- purport to be
in paroxysms of fear and rage that the Trump administration has given
classified intelligence information to the Russkies, thereby possibly revealing
the secret, vital source(s) of that information. Though every single person in
the room during the official meeting denies that classified information was
handed over, the Post and others will have none of that.
The
mainstream media, which has spent decades deriding and denigrating our clandestine
intelligence services, and calling for more openness and transparency as befits
a free society, now is utterly aghast that President Trump would stoop to
giving Russia a heads up on Islamic terror. The same media that revered détente
and reveled in glasnost, is now apparently afraid that VFWs across the fruited
plain will soon be touting “Tartar Tuesday” as all-you-can-eat borscht night.
This
new “scandal” is being held up as an existential threat, a potential
Armageddon, by the very “journalists” that couldn’t have been more sanguine
about Hillary Clinton’s use of private email servers, massive foreign donations
to the Clinton Foundation while Hillary was Secretary of State, or the insane
concessions President Obama made to achieve a nuclear “accord” with a
belligerent and unreconstructible Iran.
What is
truly remarkable, however, is the media’s behavior vis-a-vis how terribly
dangerous the Fourth Estate claims it would be, for the U.S. and its allies, should the source of
this intelligence be unmasked.
The New
York Times online edition sported this headline today: “Israel Said to Be
Source of Secret Intelligence Trump Gave to Russians.” Yes, one can see how it
would be disastrous if that information somehow got out. The Paper of Record,
not content with this banner, went on to actually underline the word “Israel”
in the accompanying article, which read something like this: That’s right, our
sources say it was Israel that provided the intelligence that Trump so
carelessly coughed up to Russia, which is a close ally of Iran. If Israel
learns of this leak, relations between the two long-time allies could be
seriously strained. Did we mention that the intelligence that Trump
treasonously handed to Russia on a platter was given to the administration by Israel?
The New
York Times and the Washington Post are two pathetically perfidious peas in the
putrid pod that is today’s mass-media.
