Stephen Colbert, classy late-night comedian that he is, had
great sport with the president of the United States, Donald Trump, recently. He
warmed up by gradually increasing his anti-Trump rhetoric as his monologue/rant
went on, until he blew a gasket and declared: “Sir, you attract more skinheads
than free Rogaine. You have more people marching against you than cancer. You
talk like a sign-language gorilla that got hit in the head.” And then he got mean, saying, “In fact, the only thing
your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s cock holster.”
Try to
imagine if that line was uttered about Barack Hussein Obama. Or Hillary
Clinton. Or, for that matter, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi or Maxine Waters.
Good-bye Stephen Colbert. Think again if Colbert had said of Hillary Clinton:
“In fact, the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s cock
holster.” Or pick any name other than
Vladimir Putin. Perhaps Vincent Foster. He would have been accused of a hate
crime, yanked off the air, and sent to a re-education camp. If he was lucky.
I have
never been a big proponent of Donald Trump. I have been consistent. I have been
a Ted Cruz supporter from the get go. Trump is governing a lot like a Democrat
lately, which surprises me not at all. He was- and is- however, a much better
alternative than Hillary. What is
extremely puzzling, is that Trump is governing much like a Democrat, as George
W. Bush did in many cases as well, and is still
the recipient of not just the left’s criticism, but of the most vile,
over-the-top, outright hatred to which any president- or possibly even any
elected official- has ever been exposed.
The
left politicizes everything. Everything.
And then refuses to acknowledge the results of the most basic political process
in a democratic republic, how the people voted. Progressives proclaim to the
world their righteousness, their tolerance, their inclusiveness, even as they
engage in the politics of personal destruction, break things and attack anyone
that doesn’t completely agree with their every crazed, disjointed thought.
How do
we reconcile the left’s deranged hatred of a (very) moderate Republican? Like Kim
Jong un, they dislike America, are 100% selfishly and ideologically driven, and
are clinically insane. Trump’s clumsy, inarticulate tweets and his
determination to push back against their media send them into a demented
frenzy, like a massive school of piranhas tearing at a bleeding carcass.
