The swamp is rising.
Surging. Threatening. Malevolent.
Pernicious. Vile. Deadly.
And it
is coming for you, too. It takes our freedoms that it may grow. It reduces our
options- and our dignity- that it may expand, eternally.
Let’s
be perfectly clear about what lies behind the recent headlines. After nearly 30
years left unchecked, nearly 30 years of surreptitiously swelling, sneaking
into every corner and crevice of American’s lives, the fetid swamp of unaccountable bureaucracy has been challenged…by one man.
It is
astonished, indignant, and enraged. And just a little fearful. But that fear,
too, fuels its anger and its determination to perpetuate itself and broaden its
own power, no matter the cost to anyone in its way. Anyone or anything. Like a giant, zombie-like, alien pod out of the
movie “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” it sucks the very life out of a
formerly free republic, that it may know immortality.
This dark,
vast and malignant swamp covers Washington, D.C., most of our larger coastal
cities, and nearly all college campuses. It is aided and abetted by the
mainstream media, academia, and, increasingly, giant corporations. It brooks no
views but its own. It tolerates no push back, no independence, no dissent.
Ninety-five
percent of 2016 campaign donations from federal employees went to Hillary
Clinton. Ninety-seven percent of “Department of Justice” employees who donated
supported Clinton. That figure is a staggering 99 percent for the State Department. There was literally more
non-conformism in the highest levels of the Soviet Union’s government.
This is
a clear and present danger to a free society. Free will is being sacrificed to
the murky morass. Liberty is being swallowed up by the corrupt quagmire. Independence
of thought and integrity of character are yielding to the quicksand of
political correctness.
Can
this president survive the all-out assault, the poisonous atmosphere?
Congressional Republicans are- like their countrymen- at a crossroads. Will
they finally fight for what they supposedly believe in, or will they surrender
to the Swamp, hoping it takes them last?
If the
latter, soon, very soon, all that will be left of the once purest, freest and
most prosperous nation on earth will be a tragic miasma, slowly emanating from
the swelling swamp.
A line
from Invasion of the Body Snatchers
is appropriate today: “You fools! You’re in danger! Can’t you see? They’re
after you! They’re after all of us!!”
.
This applies to Europe, too. And to every nation and every people ruled by a government that values its own survival above that of its citizens.
