Brexit…and now this. Britain is building a “big new wall” to
help keep illegal immigrants from entering the United Kingdom. But the U.K. is already surrounded by ocean you say?
No matter. The wall is in France.
British
authorities have confirmed that construction of a wall- estimated to cost $23
million- in Calais will begin this month. The 13-foot-high wall is intended to
keep migrants and refugees out of that city’s port, from where they often
attempt to stow away on U.K.-bound trucks and ferries.
By contrast, the
United States shares a lengthy and famously porous border with Mexico, and
doesn’t even have the cojones to protect its
citizens by putting up a wall… abutting its
own soil! (Hopefully that will change in the not-too-distant future, but
I’m not holding my breath).
So to
you, Britain, I say: “smashing!”
Well
done, mates. Well done, indeed.
