Oregon Governor Signs Law Removing Requirement For Reading, Writing, Math Proficiency

Oregon Governor Kate Brown quietly signed a law recently that removes the requirement for students to pass proficiency tests in critical skills like reading, writing, and math before being allowed to graduate. She did so despite the fact she refused to say if she supported the measure prior to signing it and has refused to endorse it since signing it into law. No signing ceremony was held for the stealth anti-competency bill, nor did the governor bother to issue a press release. Moreover, Brown’s office did not update the legislative database until July 29, more than two weeks after the bill was enacted, a radical departure from the usual practice of updating the public database the same day a bill is signed.

When the Oregonian asked the governor’s office when Brown’s staff notified the Legislature that she had signed the bill, Charles Boyle, the governor’s deputy communications director, simply declined to answer. Love that Democrat transparency! Always above board, open, and honest to a fault!

On second thought, it almost seems as if Gov. Brown didn’t want to highlight her actions. She acted more like an unelected bureaucrat drunk on her own power than an elected representative of citizens of the Beaver State.

Yet Boyle said, via an emailed statement, that suspending the reading, writing and math proficiency requirements (while the state develops new graduation standards) will benefit Oregon’s “Black, Latino, Latina, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color.”

Yes, we know how far Asian kids are falling behind in their educational endeavors. They typically struggle so to achieve even passing grades. Boyle/Brown just threw “Asian” in their statement in a weak attempt to deflect the real crux of their message and beliefs. What they are really saying, of course, is: “We can’t expect Oregon’s Black, Latino, Latina, Latinx, Indigenous, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color…to be able to read, write or perform basic math functions by the time they graduate from high school. Good luck to them in college and/or the real world!”

I have had more than enough of the Gov. Brown types, the virtue-signaling, patronizing, soft bigotry of low expectations crowd. These “progressive” swine are the real, practicing racists, smarmy tyrants who are gob-smacked if a Black person can produce an I.D.

Who would want to be operated on by someone who graduates from the Oregon public school system in the years to come? Who would want to fly in a plane designed or built by a future graduate of the Oregon public schools?

And hoo wood evan wanna rede a blog post ritten bi sumone hoo cant evan rede or rite so good? Hah?
