Chanting "Death To America" In A Kinder, Gentler Way?

 

CNN’s Clarissa Ward is probably a decent person. I like to give folks the benefit of the doubt. As a journalist, she showed real courage reporting on the ground from Taliban-controlled Afghanistan as everything was “going to sh*t” as soldiers sometimes say. It can’t be fun to be in the chaos near large numbers of Taliban terrorists and insurgents, especially as a woman, since the Taliban have no compunctions about raping women and girls.

That said, during her reporting, Ward apparently uttered one of the dumbest things ever to come out of the mouth of a human being. And that is saying a lot. She noted of those around her, “They’re just chanting ‘Death to America,’ but they seem friendly at the same time.” This is a truly mind-boggling level of mental masturbation and denial. It is mindful of the CNN reporter who, with buildings on fire in back of him last summer, termed the BLM and Antifa rioters “mostly peaceful.” I mean, what the hell?

No “journalist” or reporter would ever say the same thing about, say, the Proud Boys, even if they were entirely peaceful and non-threatening, as they usually are. Trump supporters, white supremacists (if anyone ever finds any), bakers who refuse to make cakes for certain LGBTQ events, none of them would be afforded the same courtesy and benefit of the doubt. The vast majority of the “January 6 insurrectionists” really were peaceful, but that’s not how it was reported.

Whenever someone-- or some group—wishes the death of, or chants “Death to…” any other person or group, it is preposterous and insane to promptly say “they seem friendly.”

Let’s perform a simple mind exercise. If any group chanted “Death to Gays and Lesbians,” would Ms. Ward have immediately pointed out that “they seem friendly?” And, ironically, her friendly Taliban would not only chant “Death to Gays and Lesbians,” but actually do kill them at times.

If a group of people, many of whom sported AR-15s and other automatic weapons, were to chant “Death to Democrats,” “Death to Reporters,” or “Death to Non-Binary Bisexual Atheists,” would mainstream media members characterize them as “friendly” or “mostly peaceful?” What if they chanted “Death to Unborn Babies?” Oh, wait a minute, that one might pass muster.

On August 15^th, Ward reported from Afghanistan wearing western clothing. On August 16^th, she did her reporting while clad in a Hijab.  

What a difference a day makes.

And many thought Ronald Reagan was exaggerating when he said “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.”

We in the West have lost our way…and our marbles. Our “elites” are determined to see evil in everything we do, think, or say, yet refuse to see evil or bad intent in any other culture or clan. (Or themselves, for that matter.) They seem hell-bent on seeing to the destruction of the last, best hope of man on Earth.  

But they seem friendly. Not.
