Not Your Grandfather's Democratic Party

 

The Democratic Party of today bears little or no resemblance to the party as it was just a couple of generations ago. Contrary to popular belief, the establishment of both major U.S. parties have moved to the left over the years, but the Democratic Party has traversed the most ground. It is no exaggeration to say that there is a greater difference between the modern-day Democratic Party and the party as it stood in, say, 1961, then there was between the Democratic Party pre-Obama and the Republican Party of the same time. The Democratic Party is now essentially a Socialist-Marxist pastiche of special interest groups, the aggrieved, and the coastal, big-city elites-- all cheered on, aided and abetted by their mainstream media collaborators. The party’s views and platforms haven’t just evolved or been fine-tuned over time, the old ones have been tossed out, expunged, and excommunicated, replaced by radical new ones that in some cases are literally the antithesis of the old.

 

Not convinced? Let’s revisit John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address of 1960 and compare his remarks then to those of today’s Democratic leaders. If we pay close attention, we might discern some subtle differences in values, policies, and outlook. He opens:

 

“Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice President Nixon, President Truman, reverend clergy, fellow citizens:

 

 “We observe today not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedom -- symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning -- signifying renewal, as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three-quarters ago.”

(Almighty God? The same solemn oath our forebears prescribed? This Christian nut-bag is mixing church and state! And we must distance ourselves from what the old, white “fathers” believed!)

 

 “The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe -- the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.”

(Natural rights?! Seriously?! The God thing again? The state gives us our benefits! Ever tried to get “God” to pay for anything?!)

 

 “We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans -- born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage, and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.”

(Proud of our ancient heritage?! Like slavery, for example?)

 “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty. This much we pledge -- and more.”

(That doesn’t sound very inclusive and hospitable! This guy is a xenophobic, nationalistic warmonger! He is reckless and racist, intolerant and unstable! He’ll say anything. Who knows what he is capable of?)

 

“We dare not tempt them with weakness. For only when our arms are sufficient beyond doubt can we be certain beyond doubt that they will never be employed.”

(He wants to pay for tons of weapons so that we never have to use them? Couldn’t we spend that money on something more important, like making sure all bathrooms are transgender-friendly, Muslim outreach, or making sure that preschoolers have adequate access to free contraception? And isn’t showing your weakness and vulnerability a good thing? I mean it opens you up to more real and raw relationships, right? I mean, we’re all the same at heart. Let’s just talk to our “enemies” and we can meet in the middle, right? Right?)

 

“In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course. Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty. The graves of young Americans who answered the call to service surround the globe.”

(National loyalty? What about appeasing Iran, China and Russia? God Damn America!)

 

 “In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility -- I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it. And the glow from that fire can truly light the world.”

(This clown thinks that the U.S is exceptional. Obama was right when he said that all nations believe they are exceptional.)

“And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.”

 (What? How would I know who to vote for? Who would pay for my college tuition? How could this guy ever have been elected President?)

 

 Camelot? The notion itself evokes images of royalty and privilege. JFK would literally be considered a “right-wing extremist” by most in the mainstream of his party today. His frequent references to Christianity and respect and reverence for the Founders would have troubled many modern “Democrats.” His belief in a massive, unconquerable defense and the principles and values that founded this nation, his fondness for freedom and America’s “mission,” natural rights and the rule of law would have marked him as a xenophobic, intolerant “Alt-right” threat to progressivism. Throw in a massive tax cut and belief in American exceptionalism and he would have been anathema to the Democrats core constituency/special interest groups of today.

 

JFK, Truman—hell even Adlai Stevenson and Hubert Humphrey—were more classical liberal than today’s “liberal.” Compare, for example, Sam Nunn and Daniel Patrick Moynihan to Cori Bush, Rashida Tlaib-- and most other members of today’s “Democratic” party, inside The Squad, or out. The difference is the former were patriots who had policy disagreements with Republicans…or at least conservative ones, while the latter openly hate them… and the nation they were sworn to serve. And anyone who supports or thinks like them. Such as most of the readers of American Thinker. Back then it was liberal versus conservative. Today it is them versus us, Marxists versus those who believe in free markets and personal freedoms, the arrogant elite versus the rest of us. This dichotomy is simply and sadly unbridgeable.

 

And so we have Occupy Wall Street, Bernie Sanders, Antifa, BLM, revisionist history, The 1619 Project, vast restrictions on speech, assembly, and religion, gun control, and transgender rights superseding parental ones.

 

Barack Obama succeeded in “fundamentally transforming” the United States. And, as I’ve stated before, one doesn’t fundamentally transform anything that one loves, likes, or even respects.

 

Americans, we are living through trying times, in part because we have forgotten or eschewed history. Perhaps more correctly put, the progressive elites that control academia and government refuse to teach our young people the truth. If we don’t learn the lessons of ancient Rome and other once great societies, we will soon face the same tragic outcome. 

 

We don’t want to repeat the French Revolution that led to bloodletting and chaos. Nor do we want a repeat of the Second October Revolution, in which Marxists took power from nobles. Rather, we need a Restorative Revolution, a Second American Revolution, a conservative one which will re-enshrine our God given rights and lead us back to greatness.

 

 

And The Rest Is History (A Tribute To My Father)

 

My father passed away many years ago. Based on the state of the world today, it may have been a blessing that he did. He would not have been a fan.

 Though his life and fortune ebbed and flowed throughout his time on earth, he always loved to write. As a young lad in the U.S. Army during World War II, he had his own regular column in an army newspaper. (I still have the header plate.) He would have despised the wokeness eating away at today’s military, yet I have been told he was one of the first—if not the first—to call for complete desegregation of our military forces in a military journal. (Though that would probably be difficult to verify, especially at this late date.)

He was just about to be shipped off to the Pacific to take part in the invasion of Japan when “The Bombs” dropped and the war ended. Were it not for “Little Boy” and “Fat Man,” he may not have lived to have any little boys of his own. I-- and my brothers—were glad that he did. (Of course, we are just a few of many who can say that.)

A family friend dubbed my dad a “white knight” for his decency, chivalry, integrity, independence, toughness, and honesty. He taught me to treat others as I would like to be treated myself. He instilled in me an appreciation for excellence—and humor. He bid me to be courageous, courteous, and kind. And to seek the truth, no matter what. He was a history buff, and stressed how important possessing a firm grasp of history was to a person’s ability to comprehend, reason, make good decisions…and understand what the future might bring. I sat with him listening to the speeches of Churchill and watching The World at War. We discussed the American Revolution and the Civil War. All at a young age. How fortunate I was that “smart” phones and TikTok were yet to be invented.

Dad was a bit of a night owl, and frequently worked late. Before going to bed, I would often leave a newspaper or magazine article—or a passage in a book—on the kitchen counter for him to read. Invariably he would leave a note, often lengthy and always handwritten, with his views on the topic or topics at hand-- and a remark thanking me for sharing it with him.

How I would love to wake up tomorrow morning and find, on the kitchen counter, an article with a note on it, bearing his writing and his perspective.

 

 

 

Indian Immigrants Flee American Public Schools

 

U.S. schools are increasingly becoming the new concentration camps, with modern-day Dr. Mengele supporters advocating for medical experiments to be conducted on children while their parents are kept in the dark.

Case in point: a married couple, immigrants from India, recently felt compelled to return to their home country after their daughter’s Olympia, Washington elementary school encouraged her “gender transition”…and hid it from her parents.

Encouraging a young child to “change” genders is monstrous. Keeping that from his or her parents is possibly even worse.

American schools no longer excel in much, but they are ever better at the twin doctrines of indoctrination and mutilation. And that is something to hang your hat on, whatever your gender. Right?

Schools are shedding their traditional names faster than autumn leaves in a hurricane, removing the likes of Jefferson and Washington from their facades…lest they be considered bigoted or racist.

In the spirit of tolerance and transparency, they should be renaming themselves Mengele Academy, Auschwitz-Birkenau University, Treblinka Tech, Buchenwald Elementary, Bergen-Belsen Middle School, and The College of Dachau.

George Washington University Renames Its Student Association Because...

 

George Washington University will soon rename its Student Association to Student Government Association. I know, it doesn’t seem worth the trouble, but the school’s Board of Trustees approved the change because it was concerned the acronym for Student Association, SA, might trigger some students who think SA stands for sexual assault. Really. So, SGA is much better. Beam me up, Scotty.

This, of course, is insane—and indicative of almost unbelievably craven, soft, and self-centered students, faculty, and administrators.

Will the school quit referring to Valentine’s Day and start calling it People Who Feel Romantic Attraction For Other People’s Day (PWFRAFOPD) so as to avoid the potential VD acronym? The horror! To your Safe Spaces, everyone!

 I’m amazed the institution of higher learning—and lower comedy-- is still named after George Washington. Not only was he a slave owner, but GW is slang for “good work.” How ableist!

The U.S. Literally And Figuratively Going Off The Rails

 

It’s not just actual trains that have gone off the rails of late.

How crazy have things gotten in the formerly United States?

Let’s have a look. Trigger warning: it’s not pretty.

Students of Stamford, Connecticut public schools will no longer get Veterans’ Day and Columbus Day off after the district’s schoolboard recently voted 5-3 to remove the two erstwhile holidays from its official calendar, according to the Stamford Advocate. The motive for the removals are obvious, however at least one board member claimed the holidays were simply axed to shorten the school year which currently extends into mid-June. If so, why were these two days removed and no other holidays? After all, PRIDE! month is celebrated, even if there is no single day off. And the schools are closed on Indigenous People’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Yom Kippur, Election Day, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, and “Juneteenth.” Incredible. Maybe cut out a couple of them? Of course not. (And Election Day isn’t a “day” anymore. It goes on and on for months, via mail-in balloting, until the Democratic candidate has enough votes to win.)

Meanwhile, at Brookfield High School, oddly enough also in Connecticut, a newly installed tampon dispenser in a boy's bathroom was torn off the wall just 20 minutes after it was installed.

This prompted Marc Balanda, the school’s principal, to write an email to the school stating, "I am aware that the law says ‘men’s bathroom’ but the actions today that led to vandalism and destruction of property were the work of immature boys, not men.” So boys aren’t men but girls can be?! Wow.

 

In nearby New York City, a mayoral commission voted to remove a statue of Thomas Jefferson from City Hall, where it’s resided for almost two hundred years……because he owned slaves.

Yet, a Christian navy veteran has now been charged with a hate crime (a felony) for vandalizing a Satanic statue in the Iowa Capitol last year. The man toppled a statue of the horned demon Baphomet that had been set up by the Satanic Temple of Iowa after it received the go ahead from state officials to do so.

So, according to our government, it’s necessary to remove a statue of Thomas Jefferson, author of The Declaration of Independence, but a crime to remove one of Satan. Mind-bending.

It is likely no coincidence that Satanism has grown in the U.S. at the same time it has been declaring Independence from its founders.

We’re going off the rails on a crazy train. And it appears no one cares to stop us.

"MAGA" Versus "Fundamental Transformation"

 

It is staggering to me that so many Democrats and media members, but I repeat myself, get away with sneeringly labeling “MAGA” as a bad thing, “MAGA” supporters as backward thugs. Nowhere is this more true than in the case of President Biden, who smears “MAGA” as if its adherents sport horns and chant “Heil Hitler.”

This for a phrase that means nothing more—or less—than “Make America Great Again” and a commitment to make it so. Who wouldn’t want to make America great, once or again? Only the most depraved of people.

And yet……there is no real pushback against these ridiculous smears, the libel, the slander.

Contrast this extreme negative connotation of “Make America Great Again” with the absolute pass Barack Obama was given when he told Americans his inauguration was going to lead to “fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” He talked incessantly of fundamental change, a virtual transformation. At the time, most Americans considered the U.S. the greatest nation on Earth. So did a great many other folks around the globe. (And, objectively speaking, there were many good reasons for that belief.) But not Barack (or Michelle) Obama. You don’t fundamentally transform what you like, love, or respect.

So, “fundamentally transforming” the U.S. was fine and dandy, but attempting to “Make America Great Again” is beyond the pale? In what kind of bizarro world are we living?

The most authoritarian, anti-democratic, power hungry party in American history claims its only viable political opponent is… authoritarian, anti-democratic, and power hungry. So much so, in fact, that its leader needs to be put in prison for the good of the democracy. Remarkably, Democrats-- and their sycophants in the media-- say this with a straight face. Even after Trump got more votes than any prior presidential candidate in history.

And they keep saying it, even after Trump won the Republican caucus in Iowa with record numbers. And even after he easily won in New Hampshire days later. And the fake news media aids and abets the Democrats every moment of every day. If you look at the counties that Trump won in 2024, the map of the United States appears almost uniformly red.

And yet…the president, his party, and the mainstream media never cease demonizing—and that is not too strong of a word—the vast numbers of citizens that support Trump, or, more to the point, making their nation great again. This is truly remarkable, possibly unprecedented. And it certainly wouldn’t—couldn’t—happen if they weren’t cock-sure they hold all the cards. Nor would this be the case if they actually believed “MAGA” types and Trump supporters were violent fascists bent on insurrection.

Unfortunately, Obama was successful in “fundamentally transforming” the nation he led—and previously despised.

It is up to the rest of us to make America great again. If we are to do just that, we must not care if we are called “extremists,” “far-right,” “deplorables,” or anything else. Coming from these clowns, it should be considered a badge of honor.

                 

The Barbarians Are At The Gate

 

The Barbarians are at the gate. Figuratively—and literally. They are in the process of smashing it in, and, in doing so, destroying everything that once made America great. This is the real insurrection.

Who are these Barbarians? The masses coming across our southern border. But also the radical secularists defining deviancy down. The professors and teachers more interested and invested in indoctrinating our kids than educating them. The mainstream media that is anything but unbiased, and who has made a mockery out of the so-called “free press”……and journalism itself.

And the progressives/leftists/Marxists who are doing everything they can to eviscerate America’s founding values, history, institutions, soul…and hope.

We must stop them now, or forever regret it.

“Make America Great Again” is not just a slogan. It should be both a guiding principle and a solemn oath.

If you are fine with showing your I.D. while entering a Costco warehouse but believe it’s beyond the pale to be asked to provide an I.D. when voting for the president of the United States, you just might be a Democrat.

If you like the phrase “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” but think chants of “USA, USA” are trite, offensive, and possibly violent, you just might be a Democrat.

If you strongly support continual increases in the minimum wage but are baffled and upset by increasing prices in goods and services, you just might be a Democrat.

If you dance a little jig of happiness when you hear that mask mandates may be coming back, you just might be a Democrat.

If you don’t want the border secured because you’re afraid you won’t be able to find a reasonably priced gardener or pool boy, you just might be a Democrat.

If you think the Obamas are beatific near-deities who tried their best to heal and unite the nation but that Trump is Hitler or the Antichrist, you just may be a Democrat.

If you get your news from “The View,” MSNBC, and Salon, you just might be a Democrat.

If you think NPR is utterly fair and balanced but Fox News is not, you just might be a Democrat.

If you look at Hunter Biden’s “paintings” and see a talented artist, you just might be a Democrat. (And if you purchase one, you just might be a Democrat donor.)

If you are glad that Oregon decriminalized possession of hard drugs and that federal, state, and local governments have greatly cracked down on cigarette smoking, you just might be a Democrat.

If you don’t believe prayer should be allowed in public schools—or at high school sports venues—but do believe that after-school Satan clubs have a Constitutional right to be held at school facilities, you just might be a Democrat.

If you think “Sanctuary Cities” should not have to deal with the massive influx of illegal aliens but the states that happen to abut the border should, you just might be.

If you have always decried “Big Business” but recently find yourself liking Google, Facebook, Disney and Target, you just might be a Democrat.

If you think LeBron James is a perfect role model but Aaron Rodgers is a total and complete ass, you just might be a Democrat.

If you think wind power is vital to our “sustainable” future but don’t want wind turbines anywhere near where you live because they are a blight on the landscape, you just might be a Democrat.

If you think Jimmy Kimmel is funny but Ricky Gervais and Dave Chappelle are not, you just might be a Democrat.

If you think “The Squad” is mainstream but MAGA members are far-out extremists, you just might be a Democrat.

If you believe football should be banned because it’s too violent but support Antifa riots, transgender surgeries, medical-assisted dying, and abortion, you just might be a Democrat.

If you purport to believe that the best thing humans can do for the planet is to become extinct, you just might be a Democrat. (Put your money where your mouth is?)

 

University Letter Says Palestine Can Only Be Free As A Result Of "Queer Justice"

 

An antisemitic letter, since taken down, posted by the Latina/Latino Studies Department at the University of Illinois, accuses Israel of “genocide” and goes on to state: “We know a free Palestine is only possible through queer, racial, gender, reproductive, and environmental justice.” Huh? You know this how?

The truth is, in Palestinian society, “queer justice” is throwing gays and lesbians off a rooftop. Homosexuals are persona non grata, routinely persecuted and murdered. Ironically, Israel is the only place in the Middle East where homosexuals are safe.

Most Muslim societies are also wildly misogynistic, so “gender justice” is virtually non-existent. Muslim women are considered inferior to men in every way. Honor killings of females who have supposedly “dishonored the family” are common. The “dishonor” can come from something as trivial as not wearing a hijab properly or having a Christian boyfriend.

How about “racial justice?” Not so much. Arabs tend to consider themselves superior to Blacks. Muhammad himself bought and sold slaves. Arabs conducted the largest and longest lasting of all the African slave trades, with tens of millions of victims. (Trade that was ultimately stopped by the British.)

Reproductive justice? Certainly not as the progressives at the Latina/Latino Studies Department at the University of Illinois would define it. Environmental justice? Sure. Now tell me the one about the Three bears.

No one with an I.Q. greater than that of a tree frog’s would look to Palestine—or any Muslim state—for “queer, racial, gender, reproductive, or environmental justice.” All of these can be found, to one degree or another, in Israel.

Associating Palestine with queer justice is insane. “Queers for Palestine” is akin to “Jews for the Third Reich.”

Thomas Jefferson stated: “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.” This observation is true, and applies to states and other groups of people, as well. And it doesn’t bode well for the Latina/Latino Studies Department at the University of Illinois, Palestine itself…or the United States of America.

 

 

Church Without God

 

According to recent reports, there are a growing number of atheists in America. And, apparently, many of them are joining “secular congregations” and attending a “church without God.” (“Church without God?” That seems to me just another way of describing belief in leftist dogma.)

It is ironic that these professed atheists are reportedly seeking to mimic religious organizations by using the language and structure of a "church," such as meeting on Sundays, hearing a member's "testimony," and adopting various other religious practices.

Of course, some of the non-believers’ churches are a bit different. For example, there are purportedly a growing number of “psychedelic” churches, which cater to people looking to experience spirituality and ritual through drug use. A few mushrooms here, a little LSD there…what could go wrong? I mean, Marxists have famously called religion “the opiate of the masses.” This seems silly. Why not have opium be the opiate of the masses?!

Members of the Church of Perpetual Life believe they can achieve immortality-- on Earth-- via gene editing or cryonic preservation (the practice of freezing bodies after death in hopes that they can someday be resuscitated.) And I thought only taxes and the Democratic Party were immortal. (They are inextricably linked.) Hope for that kind of immortality requires a suspension of disbelief. And an unwarranted faith…in science.

Yet another secular group promotes the idea that only physical matter exists. Talk about having faith! They don’t know this-- and can’t prove this-- but believe it because…?

Some of these secular groups describe their value system as “Good without God.” That’s always worked out well historically, right? The Nazis thought they were doing good by ridding the world of Jews. Marxists purported attempts to engender equity were only successful in the sense that well over 100 million people were rendered equal in death.

Simply put, it is not rational not to have faith in something bigger than oneself. I once tried to embrace atheism, but I didn’t have any faith in its leaders and just couldn’t bring myself to believe in it.

It is no coincidence that as the West becomes ever more secular in outlook, it loses its belief in everything else, too-- including itself. Moreover, when individuals lose faith, they tend to lose their freedoms shortly thereafter.

Because, as William Penn observed, “Men who will not be ruled by God will be ruled by tyrants.”
