911: A Call That Went Unanswered

 

Author Mark Steyn asserts that “Demography is destiny.”

If one carefully studies history and geography, among other disciplines, it is logically impossible to refute that statement. What has transpired since 9/11 makes that clear.

American troops were instructed to leave Afghanistan in ignominy. There are virtually no Christians left in Iraq. The most recent successor to Rudy Giuliani, called “America’s Mayor” in the aftermath of the 9/11 terror attacks, is a Marxist Muslim from Uganda who appears to be better suited to being the Mayor of Tehran or Isfahan. Dearborn, Michigan, once a thriving hub of America’s auto industry, is today a very short drive away from being ruled by Sharia law. Soon there may be few Christians left in Dearborn. And other urban areas around the United States.

As Steyn has also stated, “September 11^th was a call to moral seriousness.”

We didn’t properly answer that call. We were so focused on “there,” we forgot about “here.”

What ensued? Eventual defeat in the Middle East. More terror, more attacks. Endless illegal immigration. BLM. Antifa. “The Summer of Love.” Lengthy lockdowns. Zero privacy. “What Is A Woman?” Where are we today? Well, a mother can kill all her children and be gifted a get-out-of-jail-free card and be seen as a hero. And Marxist Muslims are winning elections all across the home of the (formerly) brave. Incredibly, one of them is the Ugandan mayor of New York City.

In the days after terrorists knocked down the Twin Towers, posters and stickers reading “9/11/01—Never Forget” proliferated. Even in many government offices. We did worse than forget. We effectively surrendered. We bent over backward to avoid being called “Islamophobic,” as if that was somehow worse than being attacked and/or invaded. President Obama encouraged and cheered this transformation. (See my satirical post, written in 2014, here.)

Yet, despite it all, far too many still cling to the bizarre notion that we are somehow on a holiday from history. But that is impossible, because, unlike us, history never sticks its head in the sand. History never takes a day—or a quarter century-- off.

We may have “progressed” so far that we no longer judge others—even mass murderers. But you can rest assured that history will judge us.

Post 9/11, many politicians assured us that “we need to fight them over there, so we don’t have to fight them here.” That may have been all well and good, but many of them over there came here. And we didn’t lift a finger-- figuratively or otherwise-- in response.

And it’s too late to call 911.
