Seattle Providing Drug Paraphernalia, Advice To Homeless Addicts

 

              Seattle’s leaders are hell-bent on ruining a once great and beautiful city.

Mayor Jenny Durkan let Black Lives Matter thugs take over several blocks of the city’s core last summer. The city government provided free housing to the homeless, allowing them to spend their government checks on illicit drugs.  And now the city is using taxpayer dollars to purchase drug paraphernalia for its heroin addicts. Seattle’s Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC) is reportedly utilizing its so-called “low barrier” shelters to provide heroin addicts with pipes, syringes—and advice on the best ways to get heroin into their systems. That lends a new twist to Reagan’s famous (sarcastic) phrase, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help!”

The city has gone so far as to put up “how-to” posters inside the shelters and encouraged residents to ask how to rectally inject heroin via “booty bumps.” They are even giving out “booty bumping kits.”

In their purely benevolent quest to help homeless addicts, the DESC posted several informational flyers at their Navigation Center. One of these flyers notes that the DESC is passing out new heroin pipes and encourages addicts to smoke heroin rather than injecting it, because “Smoking is a lower-risk alternative to injection. Give it a try!”

Yes, give it a try!

But what about the booty bumping kits? Well, these are a good choice “if your veins are hard to hit.” And, they don’t “leave tracks.” At least where most people would be able to see them. I hope. All-in-all, a better way to inject for those who are, for some sad reason, unable to smoke heroin. (An important reminder is called for here: smoking cigarettes is bad for your health. So says the Surgeon General. Don’t be a fool!)

There is only one commensurate, logical—and principled—response to DESC and the Seattle leaders responsible for this program: “Shove it up your ass.” Give it a try!

        

 

Florida Woman Fined $100,000 For Parking On Her Lawn

 

              A Florida woman has been slapped with fines amounting to over $160,000 for offenses she committed on her own property. What were these heinous crimes? Was she harboring a longtime meth lab? Selling illicit drugs and/or running a sex-trafficking ring out of her home? No.

              She parked one of her cars partially on her lawn.

            According to Section 6-30 of the Code of Ordinances of the Town of Lantana, "all off-street parking spaces, including driveways but not including parking spaces located in swale areas as permitted by section 17-34, shall be asphalt, concrete or block and shall be hard surfaced and in good repair in compliance with town codes."

              Sandy Martinez lives with her mother, her sister, and her three children — two of whom are of driving age. Since her household includes four drivers, their four vehicles don’t fit neatly into the driveway. Therefore, one of the four vehicles is often parked partially on her grass. The horror!

              Martinez—and the Institute for Justice— announced via a recent news conference that they are suing the town of Lantana, WPTV-Television reported. You go girl!

 Martinez says that after she was originally cited for the violation, she called the city, but an inspector never came to her residence. More than a year later, she learned that she had been fined $250 a day for 407 days for the offense, totaling $101,750. On top of that, the city hit Martinez with $65,000 in additional fines for cosmetic violations, such as cracks in the driveway and a broken fence.

"I've been living here for 17 years now and I'm being fined over $160,000 for parking on my own property," Martinez noted during the press conference. That is government of, by and for the people!

Good thing she didn’t have a non-standard trash or recycling receptacle, or she might be in prison. If the government can fine its citizens for this, it can fine them for anything. Paint your house the wrong color? Cough up the green, offender! Put your Christmas lights up to soon? That’s going to cost you 50-grand! We may soon be fined for putting our Christmas lights up at all, come to think of it. The only proper response to this egregious bureaucratic overreach is a hearty “F**k you”-- and a lawsuit.

              In this case, it is a local government that is to blame. Florida as a whole is a great state in which to live. Therefore, I’m calling on the state’s great governor, Ron DeSantis, to step in and do the right thing by Martinez. No resident of the United States should be treated like this.

              We are paying for illegal aliens’ health care and education, and shielding them in sanctuary cities, regardless of their criminal background.

              We should not treat our own citizens far worse.

Biden Calls Chinese Genocide "Cultural Norm"

 

             As has been written about elsewhere, President Biden essentially defended Xi Jinping’s genocide of the Uyghurs during a recent CNN townhall meeting in Milwaukee. When he was asked about the ongoing genocide of the over one million Muslims that have been held in secretive detention camps without legal precedent or due process since 2014, he basically repeated Chinese Communist Party (CCP) talking points. He replied, somewhat unintelligibly, “The central principle of Xi Jinping is that there must be a united, tightening control in China, and he uses his rationale for the things he does based on that. I point out to him, no American president can be sustained as a president if he doesn’t reflect the values of the United States, and so the idea that I’m not going to speak out against what he’s doing in Hong Kong, what he’s doing with the Uyghurs in western mountains of China, and Taiwan, trying to end the One China Policy by making it forceful, I say – and by the he says – he gets it.”

           And then, incredibly, Biden added: “Culturally there are different norms in each country and their leaders are expected to follow.” Their leaders are expected to follow? Imprisonment without trial, harvesting the organs of people while they are still alive, and mass killing for political reasons are simply “cultural norms?!”

Holocaust. Gang rape. Pedophilia. Female genital mutilation. Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be, right? Tolerance! Inclusion! The Two Pillars of Wokism! Yet, a Republican, conservative, or Christian saying that they believe there are only two sexes or that they think there was widespread voter fraud in the past election is utterly intolerable! Baylor students wanted a Christian lecturer fired after she had the temerity to question Biden’s (unconstitutional) executive order promoting the “rights” of transgender “women” to compete in women’s sports and use women’s locker rooms and bathrooms. The lecturer said, “What if I don’t want biological boys in the bathroom with my biological daughter? Do the 99% of us who do not struggle with gender dysphoria have a voice?”

 

No.

 

Because that is not the kind of tolerance and inclusion that progressives favor.

 

In fact, they appear to believe the tolerant and inclusive thing to do in these cases is to: “Attack them! Cancel them! Have at their genitals!”

If they really wanted to be progressive, they could just throw us to the lions like the Romans occasionally did to Christians nearly 2000 years ago.

 

Immigration And Insanity

 

Not a day goes by without students at this or that university proclaiming that their school “sits on stolen land!” They demand acknowledgement of that “fact” as an admittance of others wrongdoing and a down-payment on reparations…while continuing to attend those schools. Leftists love to point out that America—and Americans—are living on “stolen land,” though they themselves get a pass because they are pointing this heinous inequity out to less sensitive and socially aware types.

But let’s look at the actual facts. There were very few native Americans populating the lands that would become America prior to the arrival of Europeans. What would eventually become the United States was a vast open wilderness, much of it until the Twentieth Century. Only a few million indigenous peoples lived here.

 Yet, now that the country has matured and parts of it are overcrowded and suffer from a lack of housing (in large part due to progressive policies), these self-same leftists demand that we let anyone into the country that wishes to come here, legally or not. Especially not. We must allow countless hordes of people to pour over our southern border, COVID-stricken though they may be, even though American citizens can’t be allowed to return to their homeland without submitting to a Coronavirus test and a possible quarantine. You see, to impede the throngs of illegal aliens streaming across our borders would be immoral. They have every right to be here. Who are we to say they don’t? Oddly enough, leftists believe that Native Americans had the right to come here from whence they originally hailed, dating back to the Cradle of Civilization, and that anyone in the world should be welcomed into the country now, but that the mostly European immigration that founded the nation, advanced the cause of freedom around the world, and led to the majority of inventions and innovations that made nearly everyone’s lives easier, safer and more productive was completely beyond the pale.

Why do so many people want to come here anyway? The same leftists that now want to let everyone into the nation tell us—and the world at large-- that America is nothing but a sorry cesspool of racists, misogynists, bigots, toxic masculinity, science deniers and people who cling to their God and their guns. It is surpassingly strange that all these people believe life is better here than in their home nations.

Do not let leftists get away with saying that Caucasian-Americans don’t have a right to live in the U.S. but everyone else does. Do not let them tell you that America was somehow stolen from its natives but that most other nations, except Israel of course, are legitimate and should be respected. Do not let them tell you that invasive species are an existential threat to our ecosystem and way of life but that illegal aliens are a great benefit to our society.

Do not let them tell you that you-- middle-class patriotic Americans-- are the problem and everyone else is the solution.

Lies are lies, even if a great many try to tell you otherwise. The truth is that the truth shall set you free.

Anything else is fake news.

 

Americans Losing Their Lust For Freedom, Independence

 

The United States used to be the unquestioned world leader in freedom. The nation was born via the Declaration of Independence. It successfully fought a great civil war to free the slaves and bring its founding proclamations and principles to all of its citizens. Later, it fought to free other states from Fascism and Communism, again at great cost.

For over two centuries, its citizens seemed steeped in freedom, something they revered above all else. They cherished limited government, republicanism, individual rights, pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps, taking off on “road trips” down Route 66 and many other highways and byways, and the chance to create and run their own businesses.  

Whether they admitted it or not, countless millions of people around the world knew this and respected it. Countless millions—perhaps billions-- benefitted from this uniquely American affinity for real freedom. Freedom from oppressive governments.

Tragically, the Wuhan Flu, among other things, appears to have destroyed Americans’ independent spirit. We here in the U.S. have been locked down for nearly a year now…and a simple majority appear to like it. When we are told that we must not leave our homes, we say, “Yes sir/ma’am!” When we are informed that the jobs that allow us to feed our families and keep the power on in our homes are not “essential,” we bow our heads and think to ourselves: “Dang it.” When told to wear a mask over our mouths we do so without reservation. When told to wear two, many comply as well. When informed that we may “have to” wear these masks for another year, we shrug and smile wanly. Not that anyone could see it…or any other facial expression we may otherwise have exhibited.

It is shocking and depressing to me that the U.S. now can look to other countries for a lesson in how to stand up to tyranny and stand up for freedom. But that is the bizarro world in which we live. Australia is now in a pitched battle with Facebook over control of that nation’s news outlets. And they are standing firm…if not winning. Poland has proposed $13.5 million fines on Big Tech companies who engage in ideological censorship. Sweden stood nearly alone in not locking down its economy and enforcing mask mandates in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. In doing so, it reached herd immunity earlier than other nations, and didn’t destroy small businesses and ruin the quality of life for the majority of its citizens. And French—yes, FRENCH—politicians and academics have gone on record as being deeply worried about the Marxist, multicultural rot and cancel culture emanating from American colleges and universities. Moreover, numerous world leaders, including Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, have decried Twitter’s banning of former President Donald Trump from its platform.

When nations around the world, including Sweden, France and Mexico, appear more willing to defend the values for which America was once almost singularly associated than America is, it reflects poorly on us. It might be time for Americans to take a good, hard, honest look in the mirror.

We might be shocked at what we see.

 

 

Black Sleep Matters

Teen Vogue magazine recently published an article by two writers who are calling for “rest reparations” in addition to the regular, old, garden-variety reparations for African-Americans which advocates have been advocating for years. Navild Acosta and Fannie Sosa contend that, on average, black lives are shorter than white ones because black people experience “generational fatigue” due solely to the fact that they are, in fact, black. The two allege that “the American dream is a sleepless one” for black folks, and claim to have had an epiphany when they realized the reason they were always tired was because they were impacted by "hundreds of years of sleep deprivation" that was due to systemic racism. Their article, titled "Black Power Naps is Addressing Systemic Racism in Sleep," reveals the Black Power Naps initiative, which purports to be an "artistic initiative with components including physical installations, zines, an opera, and more." Huh?

Acosta told the magazine that black people and people of color inherited sleep deprivation through years of slavery and control, saying, “We're dealing with an inheritance of sleep deprivation. Sleep deprivation was a ... deliberate tactic of slave owners to basically make the mind feeble. That same tactic has only evolved." Huh?

Sosa insisted that generations of slavery have made it imperative for black people and people of color to rest as much as they can in the following generations. I’ve read that it isn’t really possible for one person to “catch up on sleep” in his or her own lifetime, so I seriously doubt one could “catch up on sleep” that one’s great-great-great-great grandfather was deprived of. Acosta, Sosa, and other activists are calling for rest reparations in the form of longer breaks, sabbaticals and time off from work and other strenuous activities. They claim that Black Power Naps is also “a way to push back against the false stereotype that black people are lazy.” Yes, asking for more breaks, time off and nap-time at work will certainly help dispel that false notion.

The drowsy duo add that it is imperative that black people and people of color be allowed to dream properly, noting that, "The dream space is a crucial space to make sense of your reality and properly process the violence that may be happening.” Apparently, I, too, need more sleep, because I’m having difficulty making sense of reality right now.

Sosa also complained that it’s unfair that black people and people of color have to go out amid a global pandemic to demand rest reparations, as this just makes them suffer from even greater exhaustion. She whined: "We are having to go out in the streets during a pandemic, expending our energy in really huge amounts in order to ask for reparations and rest and energy. It is a .... double-edged sword to navigate as an activist or organizer. You are putting your body on the line to reclaim it. That creates a lot of burnout. We have people who are 20, 21, they are burnt out. They need time off. They need to not only sleep, but to know their people are going to be OK, to know they're going to be OK, to know they can take a break." Give us a break.

Soon we will see mattress outlets with “Black Sleep Matters” signs in their windows. Ads will appear for a “My Black Pillow.” Perhaps a Black Sleep Squadron will be created to enforce the new rest reparations.

“Black Power Naps?” Seriously? That’s a bit infantile, is it not? What’s next, Black Power Rangers, Black Power Tools, Black Power Boats, Black Power Point Presentations, a lottery for people of color only called Black Power Ball?

This is sadly and unnecessarily demeaning to black people. So-called progressives are demanding we ignore the contents of people’s character and instead see everything in terms of skin color. In one sense, it’s a black and white issue.

In another sense…it shouldn’t be.

Garland: That seems likely, though I don’t want to swear to it at this time.

John Cornyn (R-TX): Mr. Garland, do you believe there are more than two sexes?

Garland: That’s a very difficult question, senator.

Cornyn: Aha! You can give a definitive answer!

Garland: I’d rather not say at this juncture.

Ted Cruz (R-TX): Mr. Garland, do you believe in objective truth. Do you believe in reality?

Garland: Those are real puzzlers, senator Cancun…I mean Cruz. I am unprepared to comment on these kinds of questions.

Christopher Coons (D-DE): Mr. Garland, do you think Trump or Limbaugh was the bigger racist?

Tom Cotton (R-AR): Senator Coons, you might want to change your last name before you call others racist!

Josh Hawley (R-MO): For crying out loud, can we bring these proceedings back to some level of sanity, please? Mr. Garland, what are your views on global warming—or should I say ‘climate change?’

Garland: Senator, I really haven’t thought about that lately, so I don’t have an answer for you.

Mazie Hirono (D-HI): Mr. Garland, objectively speaking, do you believe that hate speech isn’t free speech and that so-called ‘Big Tech’ companies are entirely justified in their valiant efforts to cleanse their platforms from radical right-wing bullshit?

Garland: Well, I will say that I don’t much like it when people disagree with me.

John Kennedy (R-LA): Mr. Garland, let me turn that question around. Do you believe that giant multinational corporations-- and unelected judges for that matter-- have the ‘right’ to essentially and effectively repeal the Bill of Rights?

Garland: Senator JFK, I really haven’t thought about it…or anything lately…so I must plead the Fifth on that one.

U.S. Plagued By Systemic Racism?

 

1)      The U.S. is a racist, bigoted, misogynistic hellhole of oppression and capitalistic excess…and

2)      The U.S. has a moral obligation to let in the teeming throngs of people from around the world who desperately want to come here.

 Square those two fundamental Democratic Party notions if you can.

         

Canadian Supreme Court Says Truth Can Be Hate Speech

              The Canadian Supreme Court recently decided, vis-à-vis free speech, that “Truthful statements can be presented in a manner that would meet the definition of hate speech.” And consequently that, “Not all truthful statements must be free from restriction.” If a statement is truthful, how can it be hateful? It can be painful, hard to face, repugnant, but not “hate speech.”

              “I don’t love you” is not hate speech. “Not all Black people are great swimmers” is not hate speech.” “All lives matter” is not hate speech. “I don’t want to pay for your birth control” is not hate speech. “Donald Trump exaggerates a lot” is not hate speech. “Sorry to say, but in my opinion that dress does make you look a bit plump” is not hate speech. And, dare I say it, “Men are not women and women are not men” is not hate speech. Facts and truth cannot be hate speech, period.   

              Always be aware of who wants to censor whom. The why should then be obvious. Censorship always hurts the weak and helps the strong…those in power who make the rules.

Progressives Deny Existence Of Truth, Morality

 

Progressives believe that the very nature of right and wrong, of morality itself, is fungible and changes over time. And, if that is so, then no single morality can be deemed true, or good…or even demonstrably better than another. John Dewey, an early progressive, explicitly denied that morality has any fixed meaning. He said we must “advance to a belief in a plurality of changing, moving, individualized goods and ends.” Woodrow Wilson agreed, saying, “the hope of society lies in an infinite individual variety, in the freest possible play of individual forces.” In other words, the one true morality is knowing there is no one true morality…and therefore everyone should be free to choose his or her own ethics and moral philosophy.

The remarkable thing about progressive’s ideology is that they are all about identity politics, groups and communal nature. They renounce the Founders’ core belief that man possesses individual rights granted by his Creator. Yet they believe that every individual can simply select their own morality and truth, neither of which is in any way fixed. Amazing.

Progressives disdain the past. And who can blame them? In place of Socrates and Plato they have installed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Chuck Schumer. Instead of Ernie Pyle and Walter Cronkite we have Rachel Maddow and Brian Stelter. Bach and Beethoven have given way to Megan Thee Stallion and Miley Cyrus. Hamlet? Nah, the Vagina Monologues!

Leftists denigrate the past and celebrate…themselves. They eschew wisdom, philosophy and experience, and proudly claim to “follow the science.” Where do they think science came from? Science got many things wrong in the past, just as it gets many things wrong in the present…and will get many things wrong in the future. If it didn’t, it wouldn’t be science. See “the scientific method.” Leftists put inordinate trust in so-called “experts” and believe these unelected elites should be charged with directing the lives of all of us deplorables in fly-over country.

Worse yet, as previously noted, they wish to deprive us of our inherent natural rights, the “negative” rights that prohibit government from arbitrarily depriving us of life, liberty and happiness. They simultaneously proclaim that we (especially those in favored groups) have “positive” rights, such as “freedom from want,” or “freedom from fear,” rights that only government can grant us.

This is bullsh*t, of course. No one is owed or entitled to anything apart from life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We, who did not and could not ask to be born, don’t have a “right” to be wealthy, live forever, never be challenged, eat whatever we want and never get fat, win every bet we place, and do whatever we like with no consequences. We do have a right not to have all our possessions stripped from us by a greedy and capricious government. We do have a right not to be wrongfully or arbitrarily imprisoned or executed by a tyrannical government. If we can’t agree on even this, then, well, the fat pleasantly proportioned lady has sung.

The phrase “There is a war on_____” is overused. But progressives are currently and undeniably conducting a war on truth and morality. They are aided in this endeavor by spineless R.I.N.O.s who make the “cheese eating surrender monkeys” of The Simpsons fame look like the 300 Spartans of Thermopylae.

If they win this war, the concepts of absolute truth and morality will still exist. But the United States of America, for all intents and purposes, will not.
