Am I A Truther?

 

North Carolina Democrat state legislative candidate Shelly Headen recently took to Facebook to post a picture from her vacation to Germany. Was the pic perhaps of a bucolic Oktoberfest scene? The Alps? The North Sea? A Black Forest Torte?

Nope, Headen was shown standing in front of crematorium ovens in Dachau, an erstwhile German concentration camp, now a somber memorial. She chose the accompanying words to compliment the photo: “Visiting Dauchau [sic] Concentration Camp in Germany… This is where Trump supporters belong.” At least 41,500 people were murdered there. How is this possible?

Astoundingly, on her Facebook page, Headen asserts that she is a CPA and business owner “running to restore human decency.” There is no metaphor, allusion, simile, or other semantic device that can come close to illustrating the insanity and depravity of that assertion. It is as insane as someone stating that a person who viciously murdered all three of her kids is “a darn good mother.” Oh, wait, that recently happened, too.

One might think that suggesting that one’s political opponents be subjected to mass extermination by crematorium ovens would not be a particularly good look for a politician. However, at this point who knows? Maybe it was just her hormones acting up.

Long-time readers know I often write about truth. The truth which we are Biblically encouraged to seek. Tragically, progressives/Democrats/Communists see that truth as out of fashion today. And so it is mocked. Reviled. “Refuted.” Dismissed. Even held up as evil. “The” truth is out. “My” truth is in. Which, they think, allows for mass murderers and wannabe mass murderers to be characterized as “darn good mothers,” and to say that they are “running to restore human decency.”

So, here we are: men can become women-- and vice-versa-- just by wishing it so. The COVID lockdowns and vaccines were both necessary and successful. And immigration-- illegal or otherwise-- enriches us beyond measure…while every ICE agent should be thrown in jail. (Yet, oddly enough, ALL invasive species are a direct threat to our environment and ecosystems!)

Boy Scouts are admitting girls. Girl Scouts are visiting mosques to try on hijabs and other fun accoutrements.

Progressives believe the violence they perpetrate is protected speech, but that conservative speech is violence and should be prosecuted.

We have come a long, long way from the days of “Leave it to Beaver,” “Father Knows Best,” and “Little House on the Prairie.” Down a road that ought not have been travelled.

When your culture is a sewer, the rats will proliferate. “Progressive” policies and beliefs have turned our culture into a sewer. A great big nasty one. We have ever more rapidly slouched towards Gomorrah. Sadly, when there is any significant pushback to this toxic mess, such as during today’s Trump administration, the rats go ballistic. And, for some reason, the majority of folks, including Republicans in positions of power, are hyper risk-averse and terrified of being called names, even though they know the smears are false. As someone once said, politics is downstream from culture. That has been made abundantly clear in recent years. We sure could use a man like George Washington again.

Will Headen’s claim that she is running to “restore human decency,” which of course means that we must put all Trump supporters in Nazi concentration-camp-style ovens and bake them until they are nice and crispy, disqualify her from being a candidate in the upcoming election? Probably not.

Or could her unspeakably vile post adversely affect other women who have aspirations of higher office? Probably not. Might be more likely she accumulates hundreds or thousands of supporters, clad in pink, making heart signs with their hands and donating to her campaign.

As I have noted before, someone, likely Orwell, once said: “The more a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it.” Truer words were never spoken.

I am not a “truther,” in the sense that I don’t believe the 9/11 conspiracy theories, in specific. But it should be noted that a great many other “conspiracy theories” have proven to be true. A number of which I wrote about at the time. (Russian collusion, COVID, etc., etc.) If that makes me a truther, so be it. If we aren’t willing to stand up for even the most obvious—and important—truths, what will we stand up for? Nothing that matters.

And that’s the truth.
