Sen. Bernie Sanders recently stated that he would extend
voting rights to the Boston Bomber. Hell, yeah! The fact that a person is a terrorist
and has killed several innocent civilians and injured several hundred more by
deliberately detonating explosives in a public area is no reason to deny him
the vote. That would be cruel!
Bernie
was speaking at a CNN town hall event when he said: “If somebody commits a
serious crime, sexual assault, murder, they’re going to be punished.” Then he
added: “But I think the right to vote is inherent to our democracy. Yes, even
for terrible people, because once you start chipping away… you’re running down
a slippery slope…I believe even if they are in jail, they’re paying the price
to society, that should not take away their inherent American right to
participate in our democracy.”
Add
terrorist suffrage to the existing Democratic Party Platform of a right to
after-birth abortions, death panels for the elderly and infirm, and the promise
of massive tax hikes on income earners to make everything free for those who
don’t have gainful employment. Sounds like a winning recipe! That it actually
could prevail is a testament to American’s breathtaking ignorance of all things
meaningful.
If
homegrown criminals should have the right to vote, and illegal aliens should be
given driver’s licenses, and free college tuition and medical care, then
foreign/Islamic terrorists should be allowed—indeed encouraged—to vote, as
well. These undocumented killer-heroes should be housed in American jails and
detention centers and bused to their polling places. The Hitlers, Ghengis
Khans, Idi Amin Dadas, and Khalid Sheikh Mohammeds of the world should have
every right to participate in our democratic process! Just because you’ve
“offed” a couple of million Jews or a few thousand Americans is no reason we
should deprive you of your right to vote. That would lead us down a
slippery slope! Hell, Charles Manson should have been made an election supervisor. Perhaps if one bombs a
pro-life center they could earn the right to vote twice!
The
slippery slope is made slippery by the blood of innocents.
The right to vote, even for a
law-abiding American citizen, is matched by the responsibilities inherent in
living in a free society. When one arbitrarily deprives others of their natural,
God-given right to life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness, one obviously forfeits one’s own right to…vote.
So, to recap, Bernie and other
leftists now want to give murderous felons the right to vote, but don’t believe innocent babies in their mother’s wombs
have the right to stay alive.
Slippery slope? Indeed.
