An Ohio school board recently
informed its teachers via email that they have no obligation to notify the parents if a transgender or transitioning
student as young as 11 requests to be called by a different name or pronoun.
This policy, understandably, didn’t sit well with parents when it was
discovered…and led to a tense school board meeting.
The
email, obtained by Parents Defending Education (PDE) and shared exclusively
with Fox News Digital, stated in part: "If a student shares with a teacher
what preferred name they would like to be called, and the student does not want
it changed in IC or Google, there really is no need to go any further. That
teacher can just use those preferred pronouns/name with the student and there
is no need to share the info with any other staff member or family member
unless the student would like additional support with this throughout the year.”
Really? If someone’s son or daughter decides to switch genders,
it’s no big deal? So what if the parents are paying the teachers’ salaries
through taxation, levies, referendums or even tuition? I mean, it’s really no
big whoop if your daughter wants to become your son or vice-versa, right? Or if
your offspring decides to identify as non-binary. Or as asexual or pansexual.
Or as a Norwegian Elkhound, for that matter. Go with the flow! Love is love! I
mean, it’s not like they’re refusing to wear a mask or sporting a “MAGA” hat. They
may just want to switch sexes, so relax!
Honestly, I don’t think this policy goes far enough. I
think schools should be able to totally facilitate students’ hormone therapy
and sex-change operations without having to notify their buttinski-prone
parents. Wouldn’t that make for some interesting parent-teacher
conferences?!
Parent: “Hello.”
Teacher: “Hello. You must be
Ms. Johnson. What are your pronouns?”
Parent: “What? Oh,
ummm…she/hers, I guess. What did little Johnny do today?”
Teacher: “Well, Johnny is now
Jenny. We swapped out his little penis for a vagina and some tiny titties today.
Isn’t that exciting? They’s pronouns are they/them, so they is non-binary, but
they wanted to make the genital change…so we went ahead and saw to it. They is
resting comfortably in the hospital. Should be back at school in just a couple
days.”
Parent (sputtering): “W-w-what?!
I was never informed of any of this!!”
Teacher: “Oh, you would have
like to have known? That’s weird…and against our policy. Sorry.”
