Oscar winning actress, animal rights activist, and
all-around lunatic Natalie Portman recently compared the consumption of meat to
the atrocities of the Holocaust in a new video for PETA. Ms. Portman, ever the airhead
actress spouting lines others have written, shared some quotes from Nobel Prize
laureate Isaac Bashevis Singer. Singer, himself a Jew, was a novelist and
animal rights activist who wrote; “We do to God’s creatures what the Nazis did
to us.” And, “As long as people will shed the blood of innocent creatures there
can be no peace, no liberty, no harmony. Slaughter and justice cannot dwell
together.”
Tell
that to Planned Parenthood, asshole.
PETA
ran an ad campaign in Germany about a decade ago in which it featured black and
white images of concentration camp inmates alongside a colored image of turkeys
and chickens about to be killed and processed. The Times of Israel reported that one of the campaign’s slogans
was, “For animals, all people are Nazis.” The Times also reported that, in response
to that campaign, a German court banned PETA from comparing the consumption of
meat to the Holocaust.
Last
June, Portman released an animal rights film of her very own, a documentary
called “Eating Animals.” Okay, it wasn’t her very own, but she co-produced the
documentary, which is based on the 2009 book of the same name by Jonathan
Safran Foer, a friend of Portman.
Comparing
human’s consumption of animals to the heinous crimes of the Holocaust is wrong
on too many levels to address. It is the truest and vilest form of hate speech.
Portman should apologize to the Jewish people and the state of Israel. As
Singer should have done. Virtually all living things survive by eating other
living things. Animals survive by eating other animals. (Moreover, If you
believe in the Bible, man was given dominion over the animals). If “all people
are Nazis” for eating animals, then all animals are Nazis too. Every hyena a
Hitler, every hawk a Himmler, every grizzly bear a Goebbels, every eagle an
Eichmann. They tear other innocent animals apart—limb from limb— or swallow
them whole, with no compunction or remorse.
If there can be no peace, liberty or harmony
as long as innocent creatures shed
blood, there can be no peace, liberty or harmony as long as Planned Parenthood
exists.
