Woman Charged With Silently Praying Near Abortion Facility

From The Blaze:

A woman in the United Kingdom is in trouble with law enforcement yet again for daring to engage in silent prayers. Isabel Vaughan-Spruce learned in March that she had been under investigation by Midlands Police in the U.K. since January. She has now been criminally charged for praying in her head. More specifically, Vaughan-Spruce was allegedly charged because she ‘stood outside’ an abortion facility in Birmingham, England, to conduct her silent prayers and, therefore, tried to ‘influence’ visitors, which is prohibited.”

If silent prayers and thoughts are being criminalized, we are all toast, each and every one of us. Of course, when The Left is in power, which it believes is its birthright, only certain thoughts will be criminalized.

If a person’s unspoken words, meaning thoughts, can be grounds for punishment, fines, or even jail time, it is game over for freedom and liberty on planet Earth. This is true, even if “authorities” really could accurately discern them, even if the alleged “perpetrator” somehow made them clear. Thoughts are not actions. What’s more, we all know that many thoughts pop into our head entirely unbidden. Like some I’m experiencing right now, such as: all blacks aren’t great swimmers. Some do like fried chicken. Some Italians actually were in the mafia. I don’t magically turn into a female because I say I’m one. Michelle Obama isn’t as pretty as Melania. AOC is as dumb as a post. Most Republicans are spineless. Tucker has lost his mind. It is impossible that legitimate rights come from government—or other men; if that were true, slavery and the Holocaust couldn’t be inherently wrong. The bigger the organization the more likely it is to be hampered by bureaucracy and corruption. Islam is not “the Religion of Peace.” There are no such things as “thought crimes.” Xi Jinping does look like Winnie-the-Pooh. “Impossible meat” does not taste just like real meat. I could go on and on, but you get the point.

At least I think you do, whether you say so or not.

Some might say, “But Eric, this is only happening near known or posted ‘protective zones,’” or that this wouldn’t or couldn’t be applied in a more generalized manner. Maybe, maybe not, but this is a road down which we should never have started to travel. It is up to us whether or not we continue into the darkness.
