Lake
Superior is pro-abortion. Bet you didn’t know that.
It’s
true. The Lake Superior Twitter account has, in the wake of the Supreme
Court’s Dobbs decision, been sharing its support for safe and legal abortions. After
the SCOTUS overturned Roe v. Wade, the largest freshwater body of water on
Earth tweeted, “This lake vehemently stands with women having the right to
choose.”
Since
then, the big lake they call Gitche Gumee has engaged in verbal sparring with
pro-life advocates, though, like those of all abortion proponents, its
arguments haven’t held water. In fact, they’re all wet.
Perhaps
it shouldn’t be a shock that Superior turns out to be so adamantly pro-choice.
After all, it has performed many abortions itself, most famously of those
on the Edmund Fitzgerald. After-birth abortions, yet!
There is widespread speculation that Lake Michigan is
pro-choice, as well. Fortunately,
for more conservative folks like me, Lake Huron, on the other hand, is solidly
pro-life…as is Lake Erie. Lake Ontario has so far remained mum. And the latest
reports indicate that Isle Royal is undecided.
