The (Lamentably) Political Pontiff

 

There is a great wall protecting Vatican City. The wall is 2-miles long and 39 feet tall. It is made of thick, solid brick. Pope Leo IV ordered the construction of the massive barrier to shield the city-state from invaders. It was deemed crucial to keeping invaders out.

But the fortification, stout as it is, isn’t stout enough to keep the staggering and repulsive hypocrisy emanating from Pope Leo XIV in. Ten Leos later, the current Pope, an American, has largely shunned Biblical teaching on morality, truth-- and other Biblical concerns—to verbally harass an American president by weighing in on political matters and clearly picking sides. Against that president. He is opposed to a wall on America’s southern border and does not believe the U.S. has a right to control immigration. (There’s your staggering hypocrisy.) Like the Pontiff before him, this leftist Leo clearly has a political agenda, one he thinks trumps any religious obligation he might have. The Holy See refused to join President Donald Trump’s proposed peace initiative, and has continued Vatican cooperation with Communist China, where state-approved bishops are now enforcing restrictions against unregistered Catholics. And state-approved surgeons are removing the organs of undead Uyghurs. Moreover, Leo XIV has approved sainthood for a bishop who admittedly slept with young men and engaged in disturbing acts with indigenous boys. And he has seen to the opening of a Muslim prayer room in the Vatican’s Apostolic Library. Which is apostasy, something that used to be frowned upon in the Christian religion, perhaps because the Biblical God stated “You shall have no other gods before me,“ and “Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you.” But maybe Leo isn’t a fan of Exodus or Deuteronomy. Or the Bible. Maybe he is a cafeteria Catholic. Or maybe he is a closet Muslim. Or maybe he really doesn’t believe there’s a difference.

One thing he isn’t is a peerless moral authority. (Not that every Pope who came before him was a paragon of virtue either, as a handful of Popes “allegedly” engaged in orgies, assassinations, bribery, violence, worship of temporal power, the siring of illegitimate offspring, and assorted other “vices.” One even had the body of his predecessor exhumed, and, after a “trial,” had several of the corpse’s fingers cut off. Oh, and then the ex-Pope’s remains were tossed into the Tiber River. This kind of immorality eventually led to the Protestant Reformation.) 

Though the Trump administration-- and most Republicans-- fought against the baseless assault by the Obama-Biden administration on Catholic nuns, Catholics on school boards, in private businesses, the military, and those organizations being unfairly targeted by the IRS, etc., that apparently didn’t resonate with or mean much to this Pope.

Make no mistake: this Pope—and some of his cardinals-- have taken the side of illegal immigrants, including rapists, pedophiles, and murderers…as opposed to those who have been assaulted by them. That alone is disgusting and reprehensible. But wait, there’s more. So much more. Pope Leo XIV didn’t really have much to say about the Iranian mullahs and the IRGC murdering more than 40,000 of their own citizens in cold blood for daring to protest the regime. Or the hanging of people from light-posts. Or the butchering of them. He is, however, emphatically against the war that could potentially drive the mullahs from power and keep the madmen from acquiring nuclear weapons with which to “wipe Israel from the face of the earth” and “destroy the Great Satan,” the latter being you and I. Not sure the God of the Bible would approve.

And, mind-bogglingly, he had nothing really to say about the ongoing genocide of Christians in Nigeria. Even about the dozens upon dozens of men, women, and children who were slaughtered over Easter weekend while celebrating the Resurrection. Men, women, and children who were slaughtered by Mohammedans in various Christian communities and churches on the holiest weekend of the year. How is this possible?! Lord God, please help me to understand.

This Pope complies with the Chinese Communist Party’s demands and is all-in for Islam. Even though the Muslim Mahdi may well be the anti-Christ.

But, hey, if the anti-Christ is not Trump, how bad can he be?! Right, Leo?

We are in need of another resurrection. He is risen. Of that there is no doubt. He did so for us. Now we must rise above the earthly tomb of immorality in which we have so cavalierly placed ourselves.

One would hope the Pope would help us do so.
