In an April statement to group members
and supporters, Climate Defiance called for a "historic blockade" of
the Congressional Baseball Game, an annual competition pitting
Republican and Democratic members of Congress against each other.
Climate Defiance sent an unhinged email
to supporters stating: "We - society, humanity - are careening into an
abyss. The decisions we make now will reverberate not for centuries, but for
millennia. If we do not act now, boldly and swiftly, millions will die from
storms and from starvation.” Or, possibly, from hyperbole and lies.
Climate Defiance founder Michael
Greenberg, not willing to be out unhinged, said in a statement to Fox News
Digital: "So long as Congress torches our planet, we won’t give them a
moment of rest. It is unconscionable that they play games while destroying our
prospect for a decent future. Our entire world faces imminent catastrophe. Congress
has the power to save millions – even billions – of lives. The fact that they
haven’t already ended fossil fuel subsidies is shameful. We’re shutting down
the Congressional Baseball Game to send a message: we will do whatever it takes
to force those in power to end fossil fuels."
If the “entire world faces imminent
catastrophe,” it is from the likes of Climate Defiance and its radical Marxist
supporters. Hypocrisy alert: it is quite likely that Greenberg, after issuing
his statement on the evil of playing games while our planet is burning,
promptly went home and played the newest version of Grand Theft Auto-- or Call
of Duty Modern Warfare 3.
Note to Greenberg: billions of people
were starving before the advent—and widespread implementation-- of capitalism
and modern farming methods. If billions starve in the foreseeable future, it
will only be because capitalism and modern farming methods have been banned,
replaced by Marxist dogma and disinformation that historically always lead to deprivation
and death.
Vowing to make the lives of those with
whom they disagree (on any topic in any way or measure) miserable, is a
hallmark of The Left. And it always has been. And it never makes for a happy,
functional, productive, cohesive society. It always makes for the opposite.
The good news? Despite Climate
Defiance threats, the Congressional Baseball Game took place on June 12th.
The game was briefly disrupted by the left-wing protesters, eight of whom
jumped onto the field during the third inning but were promptly tackled and
arrested by the Capitol Police.
The better news? Republicans thrashed
Democrats 31-11, thereby extending their winning streak to four years.
