Democrats Against Democracy

“Democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude.” So said Alexis de Tocqueville.

Ironically, Democrats have never been big supporters of equality in liberty, despite the fact that Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson enshrined “all men are created equal” in the Declaration of Independence. Slavery and the Civil War proved that early on, beyond a shadow of a doubt. Since then, Democrats have only drifted farther away from the founders’ concepts of freedom based on natural law and inalienable rights…and closer to Socialists’/Marxists’/Leninists’/Communisms’ unstated desire to achieve equity by having everyone be equally miserable, impoverished, and enslaved.

Okay, this may not be the desire, unstated or otherwise, for some young, naïve, ignorant types. It is however, always the reality. And it doesn’t matter who is in charge, the system simply cannot work because it is completely at odds with human nature.

Most of today’s Democrats, moving inexorably towards all-out Communism, economically and culturally, are either too stupid to internalize this…or too power hungry to care. After all, if you can successfully exploit the ignorance of others for your own gain, your own power, the ends justify the means, right?

This explains why they will lie, cheat, threaten, silence, gaslight……and attempt to imprison their political opponents, even as they speak of preserving “our democracy.”

Somewhere Stalin smiles.

Gen Z Suffering From Menu Anxiety

Incredibly, a new study conducted by British restaurant chain Prezzo found that an overwhelming majority of adults aged 18 to 24 suffer from menu anxiety” when eating in a public restaurant. When researchers asked more than 2,000 Gen Zers how relaxed they felt while eating out, approximately 86% admitted they have suffered from menu anxiety. Worse, 34% of these young adults said they become so tense and angst-ridden that they ask other people at the table to speak to waiters on their behalf. And worse yet, fully 40% of Gen Z eaters surveyed report getting so worked up that they won’t go out to dinner if they can’t check the restaurant’s menu first.

The distressed diners were made so by a number of factors, among them the increasingly high cost of a meal out, a concern that they will not be able to find something they like on the menu, and the fear of regretting what they ordered (FORWTO?).

You’ve gotta be kidding me! Okay, the concern over high prices is understandable in some situations, but the other fears are preposterous—and both terrifying and sad. If the young ones are consumed with fear that they won’t find a menu item that thrills them, or are frozen by the apprehension that they may realize they made the “wrong” choice after the fact, Britain and the West have no future. If a society becomes that indecisive, timid, and soft, it is drawing its last collective breaths. “Oh, sh*t, I really should have ordered the California Burger, not the Juicy Lucy! What am I to do now?!”

How the hell will these folks fare when it comes to buying a car or a house? I know, if current trends continue, many probably won’t. (Another problem?) What about when it comes time to vote? Oddly enough, if recent statistics are any guide, they don’t seem to have any trouble selecting Democrats from the voting ballot. (Also a problem.) I wish they did.

Perhaps restaurants, whatever their genre’, should offer a “Gen Z” menu as well as a kids’ menu. Suggestion: limit the choices! Perhaps to:  1) PB&J 2) Mac & Cheese 3) Warm Milk & Cookies.

On second thought, maybe just the kids’ menu would suffice.

Canadian Government To Mandate Only Zero-Emission Vehicles To Be Sold By 2035

CBC News recently reported that the Canadian government will release final regulations mandating that all new passenger cars sold in Canada by 2035 must be zero-emission vehicles. The report noted that an anonymous source, who was not authorized to speak publicly, said the new regulations are meant to ensure that automakers produce enough affordable zero-emissions vehicles (EVs) to meet the demand. The regulations are to be called the Electric Vehicle Availability Standard (EVAS).

The regulations are meant to ensure that automakers produce enough affordable electric vehicles to meet the demand?! What a crock! That is beyond preposterous! The demand for electric vehicles is lagging far behind what “experts” predicted-- and what our elite leaders wish to see. In a free market, automakers would always produce enough vehicles to meet demand, to maximize revenue.

The EVAS is a tool of a command economy, designed to force consumers and automakers alike to bend to government wishes, all other considerations be damned. In an attempt to make their demands come to fruition, Ottawa will slap ever higher taxes-- and other punitive measures—on lower cost, more efficient gas-powered vehicles…while providing ever larger subsidies to both consumers and manufacturers of purportedly “zero emission” electric vehicles, artificially driving sales in the direction it wants.

Ironically, the expense of purchasing and charging electric vehicles will make the proposed regulations disproportionately affect lower-income families. Low-income households would be less likely to afford at-home charging equipment and more likely to rely on publicly available charging stations that charge a premium on the cost of electricity. Moreover, folks in northern and remote/rural areas will simply not have easy access to charging stations, though leftists in the Trudeau government probably won’t care as these folks tend to be more conservative.

Furthermore, the electric grids-- Canadian and American-- are nowhere ready to handle a vast increase in the number of EVs on the road.

The federal governments won’t admit that, however. If they are telling consumers that electric vehicle mandates are to ensure that automakers produce enough EVs to meet demand, they must think their citizens are dumber than hubcaps-- and more docile, too.

Biden Tells Reporter To Start Reporting "The Right Way"

Recently, a reporter asked President Biden, “What’s your outlook on the economy next year?”

Biden replied: “All good. Take a look. Start reporting it the right way.”

Implicit in that statement is: If you know what’s good for you, you lying dog-faced pony soldier.

Yes, for the sake of ‘our democracy,’ reporters better damn well report the news precisely how Biden tells them to! Forget ‘speaking truth to power,’ today’s ‘journalists’ are expected to be nothing but human remoras attached to the behemoth Democratic whale that runs the country—and all its major institutions.

The media is so docile, the institutions so corrupt, the Deep State so vast, that Democrats know they can get away with anything. Worse yet, they believe the bulk of the people are too ignorant—and/or complacent—to do anything about it themselves. Thus far, they appear to be correct.

Ergo, they will keep telling us that, for the sake of our democracy, we citizens cannot be allowed to vote for Trump. For the sake of our democracy, the Electoral College must be eliminated, the Supreme Court must be packed, and the District of Columbia must be made a state. Puerto Rico, too. For the sake of our democracy, the First, Second, and Fourth Amendments should be eliminated, and the Constitution revamped, preferably by executive fiat. And, of course, certain of their more ‘MAGA’ opponents, AKA ‘terrorists,’ should not even be allowed to speak—on or off campus, at school board meetings, or on social media. (Hence the desire to ixnay the First Amendment.)

Because nothing says ‘democracy’ like an authoritarian, one-party state where political opposition is illegal!

Tragically, due to public school indoctrination, mainstream media bias, and corporate cravenness—as well as Democrat deception and dishonesty, many people don’t even recognize that Democrats’ desired actions are anything but democratic, and are, in fact, precisely tailored to lead to a permanent, one-party state…in which Democrats rule with gleeful abandon until the sun expires.

Minnesota Introduces New State Flag Design

Minnesota, via its “State Emblems Redesign Commission,” recently introduced a new design for its state flag. The current state flag was deemed by some to be—you guessed it—racist, due to its portrayal of a Native American on a horse. (Because we all know Native Americans didn’t ride horses.) The Native American on a horse shared the flag with other racist images such as lakes, trees, hills, the sun, Showy Lady Slippers (the state flower), and a white guy pushing an old, handheld plow across a farm field. (If anyone should be upset, it should be that guy!)

The winning design was submitted by a 24-year-old from Luverne, a small town in the southwestern part of the state. The left side of the proposed banner features a dark blue, abstract shape that resembles the actual shape of Minnesota. Inside it is a white, eight-pointed star to reflect the state motto, "Star of the North." The right side is lighter blue, representing water. (Minnesota is not only the "Land of 10,000 Lakes," but is also the headwaters of the Mississippi River.)

Unfortunately, some are not jubilant about the change, because the new flag resembles that of Jubaland, a federal state in Somalia. One of the designs which was in consideration until the very end of the selection process bore an even closer resemblance to the Somali flag, each having blue, white, and green stripes on the right side, as well as a darker blue, angular shape with a white star on the left. No word as to if the final flag was chosen as a result of the criticism.

In any case, it shouldn’t matter. Somalis have appropriated Minnesota, so it is only fair Minnesota appropriates one of its flags.

New York To Mandate Certain Restaurants Be Open On Sundays

New York State lawmakers are considering a bill that would require certain restaurants to be open seven days a week. The recently proposed measure seems effectively targeted at some Chick-fil-A outlets and would mandate that restaurants at rest areas and transportation facilities be open for business every day of the week, yet would exclude local vendors and farmers markets.

Bill A08336 reads “Allowing for retail space to go unused one seventh of the week or more is a disservice and unnecessary inconvenience to travelers who rely on these service areas.”

This is at odds with Chick-fil-A’s long-time policy of being closed on the Sabbath. The chicken vendor’s website states that S. Truett Cathy, company founder and devout southern Baptist, believed it important to be closed on Sundays so that he and his employees “could set aside one day to rest, enjoy time with their families and loved ones, and worship if they choose.”

Allowing for retail space to go unused one seventh of the week or more is a disservice and unnecessary inconvenience to travelers who rely on these service areas.” As opposed to, say, government shutting down restaurants entirely during the coronavirus pandemic, nearly a third of which never reopened? And what about the disservice or inconvenience to the restaurant employees? Does that not figure into the equation?

This is simply more government overreach. Neither The Empire State, nor any other, should be able to dictate the operating hours of a private company. Should the bill ultimately be enacted, what will come next? Will some government demand that certain businesses stay open 24-hours a day? Or be open on Christmas and Easter? Not be open on Tuesdays? Will a government mandate certain menu items…and prices? Will lawmakers somewhere soon ban the sale of pork products in areas with a high population of Muslims? Will they make Chick-fil-A outlets bake cakes for gay weddings?

This alone may be a small issue, but the more government interferes in free markets, the worse the economy tends to be…and the less free are its citizens.

Whether Chick-fil-A sells more chicken or not, it should have a beef with that.

We all should.

Champagne To Become Extinct?

Here’s hoping you all enjoyed your “Happy New Year” toasts a few days ago. You better have, because you may not have many chances left to do so. I’m not saying that because things were so dire in 2023 that I doubt there will be, say, a 2026. No, it’s because, according to a “climate resilience platform” called ClimateAI, Champagne may soon be in short supply. The San Francisco based company’s vice president of operations and strategy recently told Fox News Digital that Champagne and wine drinkers may be hard pressed to find their favorite beverages by the year 2050. Why is that, you ask? Two words: global warming. (But you knew that all along, didn’t you?)

According to Fox News Digital, ClimateAI’s artificial intelligence-driven data suggests that “hundreds of grape varieties could be on the brink of extinction, including champagne-making grapes like pinot noir, chardonnay and merlot.” In order for champagne and sparkling wines to be at their best in terms of flavor, the grapes that produce them need both warm, sunny days and cool nights.

But ClimateAI—and other experts—say that as the climate warms, cool nights might become rarer and rarer, eventually (or in 2050, whichever comes first) leading to a dearth of bubbly.

Were this to occur, which is anything but certain, it would be devastating to parts of France and Italy, for example. (Champagne is endemic to the Champagne wine region of France.) But more northern areas would likely pick up the slack.

“Intelligence”—both artificial and natural-- needs to realize that the climate on planet Earth has been changing since the birth of planet Earth. It would also help if intelligence understood how Earth got here. Hint: neither the appearance of Earth nor its climate were dependent on human beings.

So, climate alarmists should eschew their Grapes of Wrath and stop whining. No one is going to have to stop wining any time soon.

And I’ll toast to that.

Happy New Year to you all. Here’s to a better 2024.

Nikki Haley Flubs Civil War Question

At a recent New Hampshire town hall, an audience member asked Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley what caused the Civil War. Haley replied that it "was basically how government was going to run the freedoms of what people could and couldn’t do” before mentioning liberty, individual rights, and government. The questioner, astounded, then responded: "In the year 2023, it's astonishing to me that you answered that question without mentioning the word 'slavery.’” This, in turn, led Haley to say: "What do you want me to say about slavery?"

Gee, I don’t know, Nikki…maybe that it was the proximate cause of the war that saw more than 600,000 Americans perish.

Later, an obviously chagrinned Haley stated that she believed the questioner was a "Democrat plant." That’s as may be, but it doesn’t excuse her answer.

Here are some other questions I believe Haley should be asked in the run up to the election, whether they be posed by Democratic operatives, normally spineless Republicans, or self-proclaimed independents.

1)           *Why was the Revolutionary War fought? (And a follow-up: against whom was it fought?)

2)           *How many branches of government are there? (Careful, Nikki, AOC blew it.)

3)           *When was the War of 1812 fought?

And a couple post-Civil War queries:

4)           *Who is buried in Grant’s Tomb?

5)           *Who was shot in Ford’s Theater in 1865? (Hint: it wasn’t Ford.)

My "Person Of The Year" For 2023

To hear the mainstream media tell it, “far-right extremists” outnumber ants. They are everywhere, ubiquitous.

And yet, I’ve never met one. Of course, I’ve spent most of my life in the People’s Republic of Minnesota, so that may have played a part, in all honesty. More likely, however, they are simply not very numerous, tales of their dirty deeds largely apocryphal. To test this theory, I started frequenting places at which one might expect far-right extremists to show up: gun shows, military surplus stores, Trump rallies, Alabama.

To my surprise, what I found were generally patriotic, articulate, and reasonable folks who take the Constitution, the Bill of Rights—and their freedoms, seriously. But-- contrary to popular belief and progressives’ own demeanor-- not themselves. Most believe deeply that government has gotten far too large and obtrusive, to the detriment of all. That welfare comes both far too cheaply and with too great a cost. (Meaning too many who could otherwise fend for themselves choose to become dependent on others, shedding their dignity and freedom and often damning succeeding generations to abject dependency, as well. This while devaluing the work others do, by arbitrarily taking more money from them simply because they have earned it.)  Some believe that it is wrong to kill babies for our own convenience-- or to mutilate children’s genitalia and likely render them sterile for life on the backs of a whim, fad, or mental health issue. Yet most said they understand how others may have differing viewpoints. Virtually all expressed some version of: “No decent person wants to harm or incarcerate anyone in the LGBTQ community. They should have the same rights as anybody else, just not more. Civil unions are fine. Some of my friends are gay.” Compare those sentiments to those of many “progressives” and leftists who exclaim, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!” or “I wouldn’t ever consider dating a Trump supporter!”

No matter where I went, “far-right extremists” weren’t there. Which got me to thinking. There have been countless instances of supposed hate crimes and alleged racist actions by far-right extremists in recent years that have been proven to be hoaxes. Why would these hoaxes be necessary if far-right extremists were actually committing racist and bigoted acts in any numbers? The simple fact is: the vast majority of these acts/hoaxes were perpetrated by “progressives” themselves.

After exhaustive—but fruitless—searches, I finally came to realize that the idea of throngs of “far-right extremists” running amok around the country was just as made up as was Hillary’s claim of a “vast right-wing conspiracy.” The truth was just the opposite, in fact. Democrats and their sycophants in academia and the Mainstream Media made it all up out of whole cloth, ala the Steele dossier. It would be much closer to the truth to speak of a “vast left-wing conspiracy.” Ironically, it turns out leftists’ lust for power leads them to accuse their opponents of being/doing exactly what they are/do. (Additionally, it should be noted that they will now label anyone to the right of Chairman Mao a “far-right extremist.”)

That said, I did—eventually—come across someone who could legitimately be given the label “far-right extremist.” By that time the discovery was so shocking I decided to name him my “Person-of-the-Year” for 2023. Not because I approved of all his views, but in the same sense that Time Magazine has selected some less than savory types over the years to be its “Person of the Year”-- simply due to the outsized affect they had on those around them-- and the world at large. (For example, Time made Hitler and Stalin its “Person of the Year” for 1938 and 1939, respectively. You can look it up!)

So, meet Bob, far-right extremist. Kudos, Bob, you somehow made leftists believe there are untold millions of you! Congratulations…you are my “Person of the Year.”

My Predictions For 2024

My Predictions For 2024:

January 1—Americans joyously ring in the New Year believing that it can’t possibly be as bad as the previous three years. It can’t be, right? RIGHT?!

January 7—Taylor Swift, upset at another Kansas City Chiefs loss, throws her jersey—and drink—towards sideline in disgust.

January 15—In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Ibram X. Kendi says, “There’s no debate about it, the content of white people’s character is irrelevant, only their skin color matters. They can’t help it, they are all despicably racist because of their white skin.”

January 17—A.M.-- President Biden issues a proclamation/executive order renaming President’s Day. The newly recognized official holiday will henceforth be called “Obama’s Day.” Biden calls a lid immediately thereafter.

January 18—A.M.-- President Biden issues a proclamation/executive order renaming Washington’s Birthday “Founding Colonizer’s Birthday” and asks folks not to celebrate it. Biden calls a lid immediately thereafter.

January 19—President Biden asks aides when he will be issuing the proclamations renaming Presidents Day and Washington’s Birthday.

January 25—Record breaking cold grips much of the U.S. Democrats claim this is more evidence of global warming and state that we only have “8-10 years to save the planet.” Several sponsor a bill to immediately ban the production and use of all furnaces, electric and gas-operated, since heating dwellings creates a massive carbon footprint.

February 2—President Biden ventures out of the White House, sees his shadow…and, startled, scampers back inside. Pundits say this likely means we are in for many more months of bad policy decisions.

February 7—President Biden forgets he’s giving the State of the Union address, asks everyone assembled what they’re “doing here,” then says, “I don’t know about you guys, but I’m going to bed” and walks out of the House chamber. Even Democratic Congressmen are temporarily stunned…and then rise to give him a standing ovation.

February 11—Super Bowl halftime show receives unexpected bonus when Travis Kelce takes knee, proposes to Taylor Swift.

February 19—Americans dutifully celebrate “Obama’s Day.”

February 22—Americans generally don’t observe “Founding Colonizer’s Day.”

March 7—Travis Kelce, in Singapore for a Taylor Swift concert, throws a tantrum when a band member makes a mistake.

March 19—First day of spring…and, Democrats say, a reminder that global warming is only going to get worse.

March 24—Jeffrey Toobin celebrates Palm Sunday.

March 29—President Biden suggests that, going forward, “Good Friday” should be known simply as “Friday,” in deference to those less fortunate who may not have had a good Friday.

March 31—Easter Spring Holiday observed.

April 1—Congressional Democrats and Republicans announce the passing of a joint resolution proclaiming that they are solemnly committed to doing only what is best for the nation, regardless of personal—or party-- benefit. (Got ya’!)

April 15—Democrats in congress request that this date, which many Americans refer to as “Tax Day,” be rebranded as “Deadline for Proper Remuneration of Funds To Your Glorious, Beloved, Caring, and Omniscient Government Day.”

April 30—NCAA announces football bowl lineup will be expanded from 42 to 62 games beginning in 2025, meaning 124 of 133 FBS Division 1 teams will “go bowling,” only 9 will not participate.

May 12—Progressive Americans observe “Egg Producer’s Day.”

May 21—Barrack Obama’s fifth memoir arrives in bookstores. Obama refers to himself 6,782 times in the 298-page book.

May 23—Entire Kansas City Chiefs football team spends whole day making new State Farm ad. Critics suggest the team bundle “attitude and effort” instead.

May 27—Progressives observe Memorial Day, in which they remember all those who were the victims of Islamophobia, racism, bigotry, misogyny, classism, and misgendering.

May 30—President Biden asks his wife Jill if she knows where his wife Jill is.

May 31—Gavin Newsome announces he is, in fact, running for president in 2024. Coincidentally, Biden announces that he is no longer running for president in 2024, as he has decided to spend more time with his beloved family.

June 14—Progressives observe Flag Day, during which they honor—and fly—the LGBTQ flag, and the individual flags of all those groups who comprise the LGBTQ Community.

June 19—Americans observe Juneteenth.

June 20—First day of summer…and, Democrats say, a reminder that global warming is only going to get worse.

July 4—Progressives declare their independence from America, patriotism, Capitalism, Christianity, morality-- and sanity.

August 13—The Rolling Stones announce their tour dates for 2025……2026, and 2027.

September 11—The Squad appears upset that “far right extremists” are marking the 23rd anniversary of when “some people did something” to the World Trade Center.

September 22—First day of autumn…and, Democrats say, a reminder that global warming is only going to get worse.

October 14—Progressives observe Indigenous Peoples’ and Illegal Aliens Undocumented Migrants Day.

October 31—Countless little folks dress up in funny outfits and knock on people’s doors asking for handouts. Some citizens turn off their lights in hopes these Democrat canvassers pass them by.

November 28—Progressives observe “Ungrateful Day,” in which they complain about, well, everything.

December 7—Americans observe Pearl Harbor Day, the 80th anniversary of the dastardly Japanese surprise attack on America. Progressives, on the other hand, acknowledge the 80th anniversary of “when a bunch of people did some things” to Pearl Harbor.

December 21—First day of winter…and, Democrats say, a reminder that global warming is only going to get worse.

December 25— Democrats mockingly note that “MAGA types and right-wing extremists are observing the alleged birth of Jesus Christ, thereby furthering their endless, unprovoked, and unwarranted attacks on those with differing—or no-- beliefs.”

December 31—Countless Americans celebrate New Year’s Eve, naively looking ahead to next year in the fervent hope that things will somehow be better……even though most appear unable-- or unwilling—to do what is necessary to make that so. But, 2025 has to be better, right? RIGHT?!
