Democrats And Their Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week

It started with lead impeachment manager Adam Schiff fearfully speculating that, if the Senate didn’t convict President Trump on the two articles of impeachment, he might up and give Alaska to the Russians. Yes, Adam, that’s precisely what a proud “America First” nationalist would do, isn’t it? I bet he might give back the Louisiana Purchase, as well. (Weren’t you clowns just mocking him for musing about buying Greenland?)
And then came the Iowa caucus debacle. Though the evening grew long, the results did not. In fact, there were none. Vote totals weren’t released to the public due to unexplained “inconsistencies.” Precinct chairs were unable to connect with party leaders, the state party hung up on a phone call with at least one candidate’s campaign. Sean Bagniewski, Democratic Party chairman of Polk County, Iowa’s most populous, said of the state party in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, “I don’t even know if they know what they don’t know.” Much of the blame was placed on a new mobile reporting app that was developed by Hillary Clinton operatives and apparently financed in part by Pete Buttigieg, who, oddly enough now appears to have won. Many placed the blame at the feet of Tom Perez, Chair of the Democratic National Committee, who they claim didn’t provide much oversight of the Iowa caucuses.
Derek Eadon, a former Iowa Democratic chairman, characterized the events as “A systemwide disaster.” Adding fuel to the fire, reports indicate that Iowa Democrats refused an offer from the Department of Homeland Security to vet the new app prior to the election. Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf said on Fox & Friends that no one hacked into the app, it was “more of a stress or a load issue, as well as a reporting issue.” He added, “Given the amount of scrutiny that we have on election security these days, this is a concerning event, and it really goes to the public confidence of our elections.”
Yet, all of this couldn’t explain why the state party still hadn’t released any results, even from the precincts that had successfully filed their results, as of late Monday night, February 3rd, the day of the election. The party cryptically noted that it was performing “quality control” efforts.
None of the chaos and uncertainty prevented candidates from claiming early victory, however. Sen. Bernie Sanders campaign released what it claimed were very positive partial results. Sen. Amy Klobuchar was fairly giddy with what her campaign deemed early returns to be. And Mayor Pete Buttigieg essentially did claim victory, almost as if he had inside knowledge of the proceedings.
Moreover, despite their man’s relatively strong showing, Bernie’s Base is irate. They believe their hero is already being shafted again, after being the victim of devious machinations by the Hillary-besotted DNC in 2016. They see Perez’ efforts, or lack thereof, to ensure a fair contest-- along with the Hillary Clinton supporter developed and Pete Buttigieg financed app-- as ample evidence of establishment Democrats’ continuing malfeasance.
As if this were not enough, it was then announced that the two top officials of Milwaukee’s Host Committee for the 2020 Democratic National Convention this July have been placed on administrative leave due to allegations that they have created a toxic work culture. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel obtained a letter from the committee’s board to staff members, stating that it had retained an attorney to investigate concerns about the work environment. The letter says that Host Committee President Liz Gilbert and Chief of Staff Adam Alonso have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the probe. Since the committee is responsible for raising the $70 million needed to stage the event and for recruiting the nearly 15,000 volunteers needed to staff it, this is an unwelcome development indeed. (The chief executive of the Democratic National Convention Committee, Joe Solmonese, subsequently issued a statement acknowledging the seriousness of the allegations.) Somewhat humorously at this point, the board’s letter averred: “We are committed to an inclusive, non-discriminatory, and supportive environment at the host committee and we will work to ensure that all employees live up to these ideals.” (Ask Bernie Sanders how committed the Democratic National Committee is to inclusive, non-discriminatory, supportive environments.)
Then, on Tuesday, a new Gallup poll was released showing that President Trump’s approval rating is now the highest to date. Perhaps even worse than all of this, on Tuesday night Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi tore up a copy of President Trump’s State of the Union speech immediately upon its conclusion, in the process tearing up Congressional tradition and etiquette and callously disrespecting the various heroes to whom the president had paid tribute just minutes earlier. This did not play well with independents, and even some Democrats.
The next day President Trump was acquitted by the Senate, effectively rendering moot the Democrats three-year assault on the nearly 63 million Americans who voted for him.
And then, on Thursday, with 100% of the precincts reporting, there was still no announced winner of the aforementioned Iowa caucuses, due to “irregularities” and “inconsistencies.” This prompted Tom Perez, the downtrodden Democratic National Committee Chairman, to demand that the Iowa Democratic Party immediately begin a “recanvass” in order to “assure public confidence in the results.”  An openly frustrated Perez tweeted, “Enough is enough.”

Many of us have been saying that about the Democratic Party for some time now.

Perhaps things will go better for them this week. They could hardly go worse.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Says Hard Work Not Responsible For Success

The ever-amusing, ceaselessly-idiotic Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) responded to an African-American U.S. Army veteran’s Congressional testimony about how he overcame poverty via hard work by trashing him and denying that this is possible. At the end of the hearing, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez apparently alluded to the veteran’s testimony when she stated: “You know this idea of a bootstrap and this metaphor of a bootstrap started off as a joke? Because it’s a physical impossibility to lift yourself up by a bootstrap, by your shoelaces.” (After doing a little research online, I believe AOC stumbled into this inanity while perusing an article in a Teen Vogue magazine, though I’m not sure she can read at that level.)
Rob Smith, the veteran who had the temerity to testify that hard work can lead to success, shared a clip on Twitter of Ocasio-Cortez’ comments the next day and noted that progressives “only want to hear from black victims, not victors.” Perfectly stated Mr. Smith.
I’m guessing AOC went on to say, “There are so many false and hurtful phrases, metaphors, idiots, and figurines of speech out there that need to be, like, debunked and called out as the white, patriarchal lies they are. I mean, like, just think of ‘Keep your nose to the grindstone and your shoulder to the wheel,’ for example. How stupid is that? And what even is a grindstone? Or, like, how about ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away.’ How can an apple keep a doctor away from you? Are you supposed to throw it at her or him or they? And, like, the dumbest is: ‘Laughter is the best medicine.’ How are you supposed to get the laughter into a pill or even a time-release capsule? That’s just a joke!”
Indeed it is, AOC. Indeed it is. And it’s on you.

Board Chairperson Threatens Meeting Attendees For Reciting 'Pledge Of Allegiance'

The Bladen County, North Carolina, Board of Elections recently received a request from a veteran to add the Pledge of Allegiance to its business meeting. The board denied the request by a vote of 3-2, with all three Democratic members voting against it, naturally. This spurred a local resident to invite others attending the meeting to join him in standing up and reciting the pledge right then and there. Most did so, with hands over their hearts, including both Republican board members, according to video of the event. This did not sit well with the board’s chairwoman, Louella Thompson, who told attendees that the Pledge of Allegiance was a “disruption of the meeting,” and threatened to call “law enforcement” if such a breech of etiquette should ever again occur. For good measure, she added: “So be prepared for that.”
Ms. Thompson subsequently issued a statement to WECT-TV reading: “The Bladen County Board of Elections received a request to add the pledge of allegiance to the agenda of our business meeting. After a period of public comment the board voted 3 to 2 to deny the request. A few individuals present refused to accept the decision of the board and disrupted the meeting to protest the vote by standing and reciting the pledge. That disruption violated the law NC GS 143.318.17 Disruption of official meeting. Those present were made aware of the violation and told that any future disruption would result in arrest.”
I’m quite sure the Pledge—or any other show of support for America or traditional values—would not fit Ms. Thompson’s agenda. She won’t stand for standing for the flag. That would be a “Disruption” (notice the capital ‘D’ she employed), whereas she no doubt sees kneeling for the National Anthem as a glorious exercise of one’s First Amendment rights, an act protected and enshrined even by our own flawed Constitution, living document that it is.
Ms. Thompson pledges that second “offenders” will be incarcerated? Will three-time offenders be shot? Should anyone standing for the National Anthem be subject to fines and prison time? Should those attending the meetings clad in red, white and blue attire be kicked out, those wearing “MAGA” hats immediately vaporized via a ray gun? Should anyone suspected of being in favor of limited government be whisked off to a re-education camp?
I don’t care what statute NC BS 666.666.69—or any other bullshit bureaucratic regulation—mandates, you can’t legislate morality. But you can render it illegal.

The State Of The Union

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, a.k.a. the Wicked Witch of the West, dispensed with the usual formalities when introducing President Donald Trump prior to his State of the Union speech. Instead of the traditional Speaker’s introduction noting the “high privilege and distinct honor of presenting to you the President of the United States,” Pelosi simply said, “Members of Congress, the President of the United States.” But that was just the beginning and paled in comparison to what came after the speech.
Trump touted America’s economy and growing strength, the record low African-American, Hispanic and women’s unemployment rates, his successful trade deals with Mexico, Canada and China, and the booming stock market. He noted that wage growth for those with lower incomes is now outstripping that of the “1%.” He mentioned the need to rebuild the nation’s infrastructure. He talked of strengthening the country’s border, thereby dramatically reducing drug smuggling and human trafficking. He spoke of granting legal recourse to the victims of violent crimes committed by illegal aliens from “Sanctuary Cities.” He promised to protect Americans’ long standing First and Second Amendment rights, affording his countrymen religious liberty and the ability to protect themselves and their loved ones. He urged Americans to remember that, “Freedom unifies the soul,” while “Socialism destroys nations.”
He talked of tackling the opioid crisis and said drug overdose deaths have declined for the first time in almost 30 years. He spoke of prison reform for non-violent inmates and of granting people second chances. He stressed the need to make certain that every child-- from whatever background-- has the opportunity to attend safe and effective schools. He recounted the miraculous survival of a child born at just 21 weeks of gestation, weighing less than one pound at her birth. A now two-year-old child that attended his State of the Union speech. He called on Congress to pass legislation banning late-term abortions.
The president also paid tribute to one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen, himself in attendance, a 100-year old African-American who flew well over 100 missions in World War II before going on to serve in the Korean War and Vietnam.
And then he spoke of the Founders, Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, Thomas Edison, the Wright Brothers, Teddy Roosevelt, Amelia Earhart, Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King, Jr. And of Neil Armstrong. He praised those who came before us, who he said, “braved the unknown; tamed the wilderness; settled the Wild West; lifted millions from poverty, disease, and hunger; vanquished tyranny and fascism; ushered the world to new heights of science and medicine; laid down the railroads, dug out canals, raised up the skyscrapers,” and,  “built the most exceptional Republic ever to exist in all of human history.”
He finished by exclaiming: “We look at tomorrow and see unlimited frontiers just waiting to be explored. Our brightest discoveries are not yet known. Our most thrilling stories are not yet told. Our grandest journeys are not yet made. The American Age, the American Epic, the American Adventure, has only just begun! Our spirit is still young; the sun is still rising; God’s grace is still shining; and my fellow Americans, the best is yet to come! Thank you. God bless you. God bless America.”
The moment the president finished his speech, Speaker Pelosi stood and tore up her copy of it, shredding it while behind Trump—and in front of God and man-- and numerous television cameras. That is so symbolic, such a good metaphor for today’s Democratic Party. They can’t build bridges, or anything else. They can only tear asunder.
Pelosi was later asked why she ripped up the president’s speech. She told reporters she did so “because it was a courteous thing to do considering the alternative. It was such a dirty speech. I was trying to find one page with truth on it. I couldn’t.” Say what, Speaker Pelosi? Ripping up the president’s speech was the “courteous” thing to do? What did you see as the alternative, mooning him? Threatening his family? A “dirty” speech, huh? No, your actions were dirty. You disrespected the president, his speech, and all those he honored with it. And, especially, yourself. There was no “truth” in stating the unemployment numbers or in honoring those who served and died for their country?
By tearing that speech in half, Pelosi metaphorically tore the U.S. in two, and severed us from our past, making it clear to all that the nation cannot long endure as presently constructed. With the conclusion of Trump’s plea for American greatness, Speaker Pelosi coldly, viciously, calculatedly, demonstrated that her nation is once again a House divided.
The state of the union is…well, there is no union anymore-- or perhaps there are two. One red. And one blue.

Rep. Ilhan Omar Says Abortion Laws Criminalize Women For Simply Existing

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) was, almost certainly, never aborted. This fact has not, however, kept her from condemning efforts to curb the slaughter of unborn babies. Ironically, Omar, a Muslim anti-Semite, recently blasted “religious fundamentalists” for attempting to limit the ongoing holocaust of innocent babies. Omar also referenced the failed proposal in Texas that would have potentially allowed women seeking abortions to be charged with assault or criminal homicide. The proposal never even made it to a vote, but triggered Omar to say: "If that was being proposed by any other country, we would be calling it a dangerous violation of human rights. But because it’s happening here with the support of the ultra-conservative, religious right, we call it religious freedom."
No, we wouldn’t. Forced female genital mutilation is the norm in several Muslim countries, and it doesn’t get much play here in the U.S., though it should. Women can’t leave the home without a male relative in some of those same nations. Oh, and slavery still exists in Islamic nations such as Chad, Mauritania, Niger and Sudan, and we aren’t badgering you about it on a daily basis, are we Rep. Omar? So put that in your shisha pipe and smoke it. (And, there are perhaps a few thousand “ultra-conservative, religious right” non-Muslims residing in the U.S. today).
None-the-less, Rep. Omar continued: "I feel that we must point out how ironic it is that women now are facing these challenges to their freedom in the week that we’re marking the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. How can it be that an entire century has passed and we are still forced to fight for our rights as women, as human beings, and as Americans?" The 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote, Ms. Omar, not murder.
And then, the coup de grâce: Omar said that laws that protect the unborn “criminalize women for simply existing.” That’s exactly backwards, the opposite of the obvious truth. Women are not put in jail for being women. This is simply an observable fact. We know this because all women aren’t in jail. In fact, the vast majority of women aren’t in jail. Nor are they even incarcerated for aborting their babies. And they have the right to choose not to have sex or to use protection.
The truth is, “pro-choice” activists like Rep. Omar believe that the unborn child should be criminalized for simply existing. And then be removed…from existence.
And he or she had no choice as regards his or her conception or death.

Yale To Stop Offering Popular Art Class

Yale University will soon stop offering “Introduction to Art History: Renaissance to the Present,” a highly popular art class, because the artists studied are “overwhelmingly white, straight” Europeans. The course’s instructor, Tim Barringer, said that, while he saw value in all the subjects and objects studied in the class, the focus on white European art was “problematic.” He noted, “I don’t mistake a history of European painting for the history of all art in all places.” That’s good to know, but the class wasn’t titled, “The History of All Art in All Places.” In an apparent attempt to atone for previously studying bigoted hacks such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Titian and Raphael, the last of these classes will question the very idea of Western art before going the way of its subjects.
Groupthink being a hallmark of progressive dogma, look for other Ivy League schools to announce they are dropping classes on Greek and Roman classics, Western civilization in general, World War I, and the Protestant Reformation. Also, I would expect Columbia and Brown to ban the use of the English language on campus in the very near future.

Sen. Warren Won't Name Education Secretary Until Trans Youth Approves

During a recent town hall event in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Bag) (D-Mass) stated that, should she become president, she would not name a Secretary of Education until a young transgender person talks to and okays the candidate.
This, naturally, led other Democratic candidates to new heights of woke virtual signaling. Not to be outdone, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) promptly announced that he will not name a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) secretary until a homeless person of color approves the choice. Joe Biden went even further, vowing not to select his vice-president “unless and until he or she” is vetted and approved by an “agnostic, bisexual, mulatto transvestite”…just before shoving an elderly lady against a wall at a campaign stop in Dubuque for asking a pointed question. Critics were quick to savage Biden for apparently limiting his vice-presidential search to just males and females, with many taking to Twitter to admonish his “palpable, disgusting, cisnormative bias.”

Confident Bernie Sanders Preparing Executive Orders

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is feeling it. He knows Joe Biden is self-immolating and Elizabeth Warren is sinking fast. So, he and his staffers are, according to a campaign document obtained by the Washington Post, preparing “dozens of executive orders” to potentially be unilaterally enacted in his first few days in office, to hell with Congress. The executive mandates would affect a wide range of policy issues, the Post says, including immigration, the environment, and economic policy. Some would lift the cap on the number of refugees allowed into the country and immediately halt border wall construction, while others would direct the Justice Department to legalize marijuana, declare climate change a national emergency, ban the exportation of crude oil, and increase federal funding to abortion providers. His handlers are urging the aged Communist to utilize executive authority/fiat to right what they feel are the wrongs of the Trump administration, whether or not Republicans maintain control of the Senate or even take back the House this coming November. This is remarkably ironic, in that progressives are even now attempting to remove Trump from office for just such “obstructions of Congress” and “abuses of power.” But, as we know, rules do not apply to leftists.
Other executive orders thought to be under Sander’s consideration are: moving the United States to the Cyrillic Alphabet, mandating that everyone’s personal pronouns are “comrade,” and imprisoning or shooting all political opponents.

Venezuela Now Importing Oil

Venezuela was once wealthy. It had the highest economic growth rate of any nation on earth between 1940 and 1980. Now, due to the ravages of Socialism, Venezuelans outside of the urban elite are starving and the nation that still possesses one of the world’s largest oil reserves now must import 300,000 barrels of oil a day. This is stupefying.
And yet most of those seeking to be the U.S.’s Democratic presidential nominee come November are embracing the very political-economic system that turned Shangri-La into a shit-hole. One of them, Bernie Sanders, was a big fan of the Soviet Union.
Time and again we have seen what happens when private property is banned and the state owns the means of production. You get a U.S.S.R., a Cuba, a North Korea……a Venezuela, worker’s paradises all. If Holland was Socialist, it would have to import tulips and clogs. If France was, she would have to import wine and whining. If Wisconsin was, it would have to import beer and cheese.
It boggles the mind that the most thoroughly discredited—and dangerous-- idea in history still attracts a significant percentage of people. And that others are attracted to them.

Barack Obama Says Women Are Better Than Men

Former President Barack Obama recently attended a leadership forum in Singapore where he said: “Now, women, I just want you to know, you are not perfect, but what I can say pretty indisputably is that you’re better than us [men]. I'm absolutely confident that for two years, if every nation on Earth was run by women, you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything ... living standards and outcomes.” The Anointed One remarked that he doesn’t plan to return to political leadership and added: "If you look at the world and look at the problems it's usually old people — usually old men — not getting out of the way. It is important for political leaders to try and remind themselves that you are there to do a job, but you are not there for life, you are not there in order to prop up your own sense of self-importance or your own power." This is akin to former President Clinton lecturing candidates to avoid prevaricating……and interns. (Obama actually once said that he and his supporters would slow the “rise of the oceans” and begin to “heal” the planet. Just after he spoke of his “profound humility.”)
Despite his praise of female leadership, Obama hasn’t endorsed a woman for president in 2020, even though the field is down to only two viable female candidates, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Amy Klobuchar. (Oddly enough, The New York Times did endorse Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Amy Klobuchar. Both of them.)
The Flawless One has spoken. But all he really did was deign to briefly pat the little ladies on the head while kicking the stool out from beneath his former vice-president’s bottom. (“Old men” should get “out of the way.” Ouch!)
Obama said that women make the best leaders, but his own presidency is proof that isn’t necessarily true. Zing! It is obvious that Michelle wears the pants in that family. Maybe she will yet enter the race. (Get your bag lunches ready, kids!) Margaret Thatcher was a great leader. Hillary Clinton is not. Neither sex is inherently good or inherently bad. Obama was just engaging in a little identity politics virtue-signaling.
Meanwhile, with Sanders surging and Hunter hobbling him, Biden is between Barack and a hard place.
