The New York Post
recently reported that some diabolical Canadians “are proposing the most
drastic measure yet in the trade war with Uncle Sam – blocking US access to
Canadian-owned Pornhub.” NOOOOO,
Canada! Anything but that!
One Canuck, stand-up comedian Matthew
Puzhitsky, went so far as to post a (now-viral) Instagram video calling that
option Canada’s “nuclear
weapon.” Perhaps because Pornhub
itself is the most visited adult site in the US, with more than 3 million
views a month.
Puzhitsky told The Post, “If Canada could ban
Pornhub in the states, we win the trade war. That’s it. There is no trade war.”
Funny. Funny?
Apparently, a petition has since been
launched urging Canadian authorities to block Pornhub as a “peaceful yet
powerful” response to the ongoing trade dispute. Pornhub’s parent company, entertainment
conglomerate Aylo, owns at least a dozen popular X-rated sites.
The New York Post article stated that
“New Yorkers were aghast with the prospect of losing Pornhub,” and quoted one “concerned”
resident of Manhattan as saying, “If they take away my access to Pornhub, I’m
moving out of the US.” Note to one “concerned” resident of Manhattan: you won’t
be missed. Another Big Apple dweller remarked, “Canadians wouldn’t do that to
us…would they? I thought they were supposed to be nice.”
What does it say about a country, the
second largest in the world and bursting with natural resources, that it deems
its most valuable export to be pornography?
(Admittedly, this is not necessarily a
resounding endorsement of the country importing the pornography, either, but
you get my point.)
