Planned Parenthood Paradox

                The Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is the last one remaining in that state. “Planned Parenthood abortion clinic” sounds a little oxymoronic to me. Kind of like the “Proactive Financial Planning Network’s bankruptcy center.” But I digress.

                Anyway, feminists are bemoaning the fact that South Dakota has passed a  number of laws restricting access to abortion. The most “controversial” law, passed in 2011, requires every woman to visit a “pregnancy help center” before having an abortion so she can hear about options available “to help her maintain her relationship with her unborn child.”

                “Officials” say the law is so offensive that closing the clinic is under discussion.

                The “procedure” isn’t in any way offensive, of course, but a law that requires a woman to simply hear about other options is.

                I thought this was all about “Pro-choice?!?”

                The medical director of Planned Parenthood of Minnesota and the Dakotas stated that abortion “is basic health care for women. One in three women have an abortion in their lifetime. How much more basic is that?” One in three women may  gamble, too. That doesn’t qualify gambling as basic financial planning! She went on to say that she decided years ago that “I’m a good feminist, I’ll learn how to do abortions.”

                This “feminist” should consider going to China. Not only would she be more in tune with the political climate, she could perform abortions to her heart’s content. The government of China claims that 13 million abortions are performed there each year, and the figure is likely much higher. Of course, most of the aborted are females, as most families want their lone “allowable” child to be a boy, resulting in an unbalanced population heavily weighted towards males.

War on Women- Part II

                South Carolina state Senator Vincent Sheheen, governor Nikki Haley’s Democratic opponent in this past election, spoke in Florence about the need to “take our state back.”Any time a Republican uses that phrase he is immediately branded as a racist, sexist, homophobe or such like, especially if their opponent is a minority.

                Senator Sheheen wasn’t done, however. After running off a list of complaints, he exclaimed “we must escort the whore out the door!” He then amended that statement to “escort her out the door” leaving some wiggle room for those who may have thought it was a simple slip of the tongue. However, the audience laughed and seemed to approve of the remark.

                His response? He winked and laughed, pointed and added  “you have to tell the truth.”

                Truth? No, a despicable slander of an innocent, competent, gracious woman.

                Fortunately, in this case, Ms. Haley won and it was “the bore that was shown the door.”

                The “War on Women?” What side seems to be firing all the shots?

Invasive Species Out, Illegal Aliens In!

               There is yet another incredible inconsistency/hypocrisy of thought among liberals that has gone unnoticed in recent years. They champion “diversity” over all other “virtues”. We need all races, creeds, religions, sexual orientations (57 varieties now on Facebook! Claim one now while they’re hot!), fetishes, etc., etc. to be complete they shout. Gay marriage, abortion, legalized pot, it’s all good, bro! Tolerance is everything!

And yet, there are  two things liberals will not tolerate. First, if one disagrees with their positions (see also ‘global warming/climate change’)  that is heresy, not diversity of opinion… and will get one banned from speaking at a college or university…and perhaps threatened with jail time. Theirs is the only orthodoxy they will accept.

                Second, liberals, as the eco-fascists they are, think Invasive Species are going to be the death of us all- if climate change doesn’t get us first- and believe we have to expend whatever effort and resources it takes to prevent them from taking hold in our pristine ecosystem.

                That’s right, Purple Loosestrife, Zebra Mussels, Eurasian Milfoil, Bighead Carp, Round Gobies, etc., etc. will crowd out all our native species and make our lives a living hell if we don’t spend billions of dollars to try to keep them in check…and spare no effort to keep any/all other obnoxious foreign flora and fauna back where they damn well belong.

                Yet, liberals claim that every man, woman and child, of any stripe and character, that comes across our border is a font of enrichment for our nation and is warmly to be welcomed into our culture, workforce and hearts. They will be good for the economy and teach us about other cultures and belief systems. Why, we can learn so very much from them, it is a privilege for us to have them around, whether they came here illegally or not.

                In sum, diversity is not just good but mandatory in all things, except thought- if you think differently than they do. That kind of diversity is dangerous. (The Founders would be so proud). Oh, and  every living thing, plant and animal alike, that hails from parts unknown  is dangerous to our ecosystem and way of life- except for human beings, who are universally a blessing bestowed upon us from any and every country on the planet.

                They do tolerate their own hypocrisy and illogic.

               

              

               

Moore, Oklahoma and an American Beheading

                  Another brutal murder on our soil, inflicted on innocents, by a  Muslim. And a  first for America…a beheading. The mainstream media usually immediately rules out the possibility of Islam playing any part in these crimes (terrorist attacks) and many speculate that it’s probably “tea-baggers”, conservatives, friends of George ‘W’ Bush or a rogue Fox News reporter responsible for the carnage. When this hope never pans out they blame a gun. It is amusing to watch them walk back the story until it becomes clear to any sentient being, no matter how they obfuscate, that it was an act of Islamist terror, almost always preceded by the voicing of “Allahu Akbar!” Since this beheading was carried out using a knife and the perpetrator was stabbing another victim when he was  stopped by an off-duty reserve  deputy (and Chief Operating Officer of the company) who shot him with a gun, the usual opening bullshit was dispensed with and they went right to calling it an unfortunate case of “workplace violence”.

                This is akin to calling the Germans’ deliberate attempt to destroy London from the air in WWII (by indiscriminately bombing civilian and industrial areas almost every night for weeks on end) “geopolitical tension-releasing”. In this day and age, throwing a pencil at a co-worker would qualify as "workplace violence". Beheading a boss or co-worker would seem to require the use of a stronger and more accurate term.

                The woman who was beheaded didn’t previously rob a convenience store. She was a totally  innocent non-combatant. Comparing this to another recent tragedy brings a question to mind.  Are the citizens of Moore, Oklahoma,  rioting in the streets against Muslims or Islamic extremist violence?

                The killer has a picture of himself holding a sign on a "social media" ("anti-social media" in this case?) site. The sign says "Freedom can go to hell."

                I don't believe "freedom" can actually go to hell.
    
                But he will.
 

 

Dinosaur Brains

                  It was the biggest predator ever to trod the Earth, with a ‘crocodile’ snout six feet long, full of large teeth. And it had webbed feet, like a giant duck.

                ‘It’ is Spinosaurus, the only known dinosaur to, apparently, live much of its life in the water. A fifty foot long predator that looks like it was put together by committee. It was unveiled by scientists this past  Thursday in Washington, D.C. (This actually reminds me of a classic ‘Monty Python’ sketch in which the archeologists were putting the final touches on an upright dinosaur skeleton in a museum. The announcer intones “scientists now know the animal looked very much like this!” as they placed a large human thumb on its ‘face’ to complete the skeleton). Scientists say the beast was known to them before, but that the bones from a long-ago fossil discovery were destroyed in Germany during World War II.

                They say the new skeleton found in Morocco reveals the beast was far more aquatic than originally thought. Spinosaurus had a long neck, strong clawed forearms, powerful jaws and the dense bones of…a penguin, according to a new study released by the journal Science. It sported a 7 foot tall spiny ‘sail’ on its back and lived 95 million years ago. It propelled itself through the water with flat feet that were probably webbed according to the study. Study lead author Nizar Ibrahim said “it’s like working on an extraterrestrial or an alien. It’s so different than anything else around.” He was standing in front of a room-sized reconstruction of the skeleton at the National Geographic Society, which partially funded the research. ( I have been assured there were no human thumbs anywhere in sight).

                Ibrahim went on to say that the creature was “so bizarre it’s going to force dinosaur experts to rethink many things they thought they knew about dinosaurs.” Until now, scientists had thought that all dinosaurs stuck to the land with only the occasional, brief trip to water. But the new skeleton exhibits clear evidence of aquatic living, including nostrils positioned high on the skull, allowing the beast to be mostly submerged for extended periods of time. Study co-author Paul Sereno called it “an evolutionary experiment going into the water.”Spinosaurus grew 9 feet longer than Tyrannosaurus Rex and feasted on aquatic creatures the size of cars in an area that was history’s “most dangerous place” Ibrahim said.  Three giant predators roamed the land, and 25-foot long sharks, giant sawfish and various types of ‘nasty’ crocodiles lurked in the water. Even the sky had giant predators.

                And I had thought history’s most dangerous place was  any particular golf course on which  Gerald Ford was playing. And we are currently being told- and told, and told, and told- that all of planet Earth is now history’s most dangerous place due to global cooling, warming climate change.

                An article by Seth Borenstein in the Associated Press (Friday, September 12) quoted University of Maryland dinosaur expert Thomas Holtz, Jr. as stating “The new find is amazing and convincing, showing how wrong scientists have been about this dinosaur and about how diverse dinosaurs can be.”

                In other words we may have gotten most everything wrong in the past, been deluded for decades, but we’re certain that now all our beliefs and assumptions are unquestionably spot-on!

                Truth be told, I respect that these scientists are apparently  open-minded and willing to change their established beliefs  and  to question the conventional wisdom whenever new evidence comes to light.

                Most climate change scientists? Not so much.

Smoke Alarm

                Who is one to believe in these troubled times? Who may be worthy of our support, our vote?

               If you aren’t very well informed, dislike the political arena, get upset that we all can’t agree on everything, yet get even more upset when your ‘soaps’ or sports are interrupted by the crucial everyday workings of democracy being reported, I ask you to consider this: the scoundrel factor.

                Simply put, it is hypocrisy that is the key here. The litmus test. If you will engage in or encourage/aid/abet behavior you profess to find appalling, damaging or evil to further your own gain, you are a scoundrel of the highest order. Not worthy of anything other than our deepest scorn- and possible incarceration- let alone election to the highest office in the land.

                For example, in the 2000 and 2004 elections, Democratic operatives roamed the streets of places such as Milwaukee and Madison Wisconsin (among the most closely contested of states),  St. Louis, Missouri and various other cities offering free cigarettes to those ‘willing’ to be bussed down to the polling booth(s) and vote for their candidates. This is simply a matter of  record. This from the people who detest smoking. The same folks who’ve made billions off of ‘Big Tobacco’. The same folks whose anti-tobacco lawyer friends helped keep them in office.

                Shameless.

                Did Republicans, those supposed friends of ‘Big Tobacco’, have people on those- or other- streets offering cigarettes to would-be voters? Or passing out Barbara Streisand concert tickets or free copies of Al Franken’s brilliantly titled tome, “Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot” to bribe people into voting for their candidates? No. And exposure to either of these, while certainly unpleasant and traumatic, probably won’t take years off of your life.

                Yet, this second-hand voting could be deadly.

                To our republic.

Heterophobia?

                Obviously, there are homosexuals who can’t 'control' their behavior. Can’t will themselves to be something they are not. Destined by mother nature to be the way they are, how very tragic it would be to even try to change them. Indeed they should be championed. Only a fanatical, right-wing,  homophobic bigot could think otherwise.

                Of this I have no doubt. They should celebrate their ‘queerness.’

                Yet, if this is accepted, and why not, then by logical extension, equality of application, definition…there are certainly those males born- also through no fault of their own- on the other end of the spectrum…who simply can’t help but drop the odd sexist comment. No way they can stop ogling/fondling their secretaries breasts or butts. Or teasing the occasional gay guy.

                Yet this too, then, should be celebrated, not reviled, in a progressive, tolerant, equal, liberated, diverse, non-repressed society! The poor, oppressed hyper-male has no choice. Born this way, you see. Only the biased, bigoted, western Christian society could blame him, the real victim, for his actions. (Again, this is not a critique of gays. It is a plea for logic and honesty. And equilibrium).

               There are so many gender assignations/classifications now, it's impossible to keep track of them. So, I say, what about the male lesbian? Hmmmmmm? What possible chance does he have in our repressed, intolerant society?  Celebrate the He’sbians!
