His Remarkable Rotundity

He’s back in the news! His Remarkable Rotundity, Kim Jong-un, and His crackerjack team of North Korean scientists, have let the world know that they have invented a miracle drug! This astounding potion, called “Kumdang-2” (insert your own joke here), can cure AIDS, Ebola, Sars and Mers! I’m sure it can help one re-grow hair, prevent memory loss and take coffee-stains out of delicate fabrics, as well!
The drug has several ingredients, only one of which the Hermit Kingdom’s finest will divulge at this time…ginseng.
Oddly enough, the impoverished “republic” is one of the world’s largest producers of ginseng. And nothing else, except bullshit and bellicosity.
Now, perhaps, they can set their minds toward inventing something that can cure delusions or even stop hunger.
Like food.

This recent announcement is probably best taken with a grain of salt, as its source is the same government that has previously declared that Kim Jong-un: learned to drive at the age of three, won a yacht race as a nine-year-old, and has climbed the country’s highest mountain.

The Hermit Kingdom And Mourning In America

Referring to “gangster-like U.S. imperialists,” North Korea said it won’t agree to talks with the United States and is instead now focused on its ability to destroy the country with conventional, nuclear and cyber-warfare attacks.
Well, I’m sure those talks would have been serious and heartfelt on the Hermit Kingdom’s side.
Kim Jong Un’s government accused the U.S. of “inching closer to the stage of igniting a war of aggression” by, among other things, predicting the collapse of the regime. Putinesque!
Just as Poland started the war of aggression against Germany in World War II.
This statement by North Korea didn’t make the front page of most newspapers in the U.S. and, in fact, didn’t generate much of a stir at all, as no one takes the regime seriously. Who really believes that North Korea could ever make good on such threats?
Yet, think about how far the U.S. has fallen in terms of prestige and respect…in just a few years.  Obama’s “stewardship” of the United States has led directly to both Russia and China  becoming ever more bellicose…to their neighbors and to the U.S. itself. Iran claims the U.S. is “afraid” of them and has agreed to proceed with talks about Iran’s  nuclear program out of weakness. They are right.  And now an impoverished little country, with the majority of its people starving, openly states it won’t agree to talk about its nuclear program and instead seeks to destroy the U.S.
                Get in line.
It is not “morning in America” anymore.
It should be “mourning in America” to anyone paying attention.

Kim Jong (the Only) Un

The given name of North Korea’s  leader has now been reserved only for him, according to reports. All North Koreans who had the same name when Kim came to power in 2011 have been forced to give them up, a South Korean government official confirmed. He stated, “It’s true that in North Korea, they now allow only one Jong Un.”
There was mild hope in some quarters when Kim first came into power that he would prove to be a more modern, open and less brutal ruler than his dad and grandfather were.
Then he had his uncle executed by firing squad when he started accruing too much power.
That tended to curtail the optimism.
Moreover, all North Korean homes and offices must sport portraits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, the current dictator’s  grandfather and father, respectively. There are statues of these two men in all major cities. Their birthdays are national holidays. North Koreans wear lapel pins bearing their images, many while nearly starving.
No one, at least outside North Korea, knows how many people were forced to give up their name, but Jong Un was a common name- for  men and women-  in both Koreas.

Yet in North Korea, there will now be only one Jong Un. Unfortunately for North Koreans, it’s the wrong Jong Un.

North Korazy- Part II!

The North Korean government is at it again. There is always unintentional humor and creative hyperbole in its “official” statements, and this past week was no exception.
On Tuesday a U.N. committee voted to adopt a resolution urging the Security Council to refer the leaders of North Korea to the International Criminal Court for prosecution for extensive violations of human rights. The North Korean government then promptly stated that due to this “political provocation” they would have to renew nuclear testing.
In follow-up statements Thursday the government accused the United States of hiring “rubber stamps” to pass the document and claimed the resolution set a dangerous precedent in “politicizing and internationalizing the issue of human rights.”
They then claimed that the United States was planning to overthrow their government, stating “Our war deterrent will be strengthened infinitely in the face of the United States’ plot for armed interference and invasion.”

Maybe just another area where President Obama plans to act by executive fiat? Can’t imagine the U.N. would “rubber stamp” the idea of invading North Korea.

North Korazy

According to the Associated Press, The U.N. General Assembly’s human rights committee approved a resolution that urges the Security Council to refer the country’s brutal human rights situation to the International Criminal Court. Of course this is a “non-binding” resolution that now goes to the General Assembly for a vote sometime in the future. China and Russia, which hold veto power on the council, voted against it. There’s a shock.
A U.N. commission of inquiry report earlier this year  declared that North Korea’s human rights situation “exceeds all others in duration, intensity and horror.”
North Korea sent a sharp warning before the vote. Trying to punish it over human rights “is compelling us not to refrain any further from conducting nuclear tests,” said Chloe Myong Nam, a foreign ministry advisor for U.N. and human rights issues. He went on to accuse the European Union and Japan, the resolution’s cosponsors, of “subservience and sycophancy” to the United States, predictably promising “unpredictable and serious consequences” if the resolution went forward.
(Kim Jong Un is  conflicted today; finally being granted what he believes to be long-overdue recognition  as a force to be reckoned with makes him happy, but the thought that the “Dear Leader” himself could somehow be held accountable in a criminal court makes him crazy. Excuse me, make that crazier).

If that’s possible.

My response to the North Koreans would be: “Trying to threaten us for deploring your deplorable human rights record is compelling us not to refrain any further from laughing in your face."

Bible Belted

The United States government must make a formal apology to secure the freedom of two Americans who remain imprisoned in North Korea, North Korean legal experts (try to say that without laughing) said Thursday, October 23rd. Earlier that week North Korea released erstwhile American prisoner Jeffrey Fowle. Fowle, who had not yet been tried in a court, was flown out of North Korea on a U.S. military jet on Tuesday, October 21st, after being detained for six months for leaving a Bible in a nightclub in the city of Chongjin, where he was visiting with a foreign tour group.

Getting Matthew Miller and Kenneth Bae out of prison, however, will likely require an official statement of apology and formal request for their release from Washington, according to the two North Korean law experts. Though nothing is known for sure, there is speculation that Miller and Bae were also detained for carrying Bibles and engaging in activity potentially detrimental to the officially atheist state.

Two main points must be brought up here. One: consider what the reaction of former presidents might have been if Americans abroad were detained- let alone imprisoned for 6 months- for the “crime” of carrying a Bible/believing in Christianity? Teddy Roosevelt? Harry Truman? JFK? Ronald Reagan?

Point number two: truth be told, we may soon be imprisoning our own citizens for carrying a Bible or leaving one in a nightclub…and almost surely for “proselytizing.” Already any clergy member that dares cite a Biblical reference that isn’t pro homosexuality, for example,  is risking censure…or worse. In Canada these “wayward” priests or pastors can be banned from their pulpits and actually face criminal charges.

Yes, Pyongyang is demanding Washington, D.C. apologize.

What would (our first president, the “Father of Our Country”) Washington, the man, have replied?

Days of Freedom Past

The overt persecution of conservatives and their ideas continues unabated. Activists in Wisconsin attacking Scott Walker, the preposterous indictment of Texas governor Rick Perry, the attempts to ban conservative groups’ advertisements in several states, the IRS harrassment and many other leftist/progressive actions vividly illustrate their desire to stamp out the first amendment. There is, clearly, a deep and growing animus among the left towards the Constitution of the United States of America. In fact, under the spurious ruse of campaign-finance reform  Democrats are now pushing a ‘constitutional amendment’ that would give the congress the power to censor everything from books and movies to newspapers and television commercials!

They propose to create a federal sensor to suppress criticism of the government, elected officials, and office seekers.  Is that chilling enough? Putin shouldn’t antagonize the U.S. at this juncture. It’s needless. We are becoming Russia. Wait a few more years, V.P., and we might just join you in complete intolerance of dissent and a desire to annex less powerful nations. (Maybe we can divvy up Poland).

Don’t believe it?  Rochester Institute of Technology professor Lawrence Torcello is on record as saying that we should “jail those who don’t believe in global warming.” Jail those who don’t believe. Should we jail those who don’t believe in the tooth fairy as well? Should we jail those who don’t believe in Christianity? Jail those who don’t believe that marriage should be between one man and one woman? Jail those who do?

In fairness, it should be pointed out that this is not the most outlandish statement of leftist intolerance I’ve come across…even on the subject of global warming/cooling/climate change/ lack of change/ change in the rate of change/lack of change in the rate of change.  There is a professor- of “Systematic Musicology” no less- at the University of Graz in Austria who wrote that climate change “deniers” should be executed.

Global warming is the biggest “science-based” fraud since eugenics. And if the Austrian professor of “Systematic Musicology” has his way, it will share at least one of its “remedies”.

When the United States Constitution (that musty but fungible old ‘living document’ in statists eyes) and its Amendments/ Bill of Rights are destroyed, and the last 47 people on Earth who understand the  concept of Natural Law expire… global freedom expires with them.

Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, Cuba? The Axis of Evil.

Switzerland, Sweden, Costa Rica, Ireland, Jordan? Nice countries all, but not going to foster and protect freedom around the globe.

As radio host, author and commentator Dennis Prager has so astutely observed, the future of the world will be decided between three ideologies…secular humanism or progressive/leftist beliefs, Islam and Shariah, and (founding) “American” beliefs/values. In a tragic and almost indescribable irony, Americans are rapidly giving up (or are no longer being taught so don’t even recognize)  their own founding values. Leftists do not tolerate “American” values, but do, incredibly, tolerate Islamic beliefs that are virtually antithetical to their own ( the stoning of homosexuals, keeping women veiled and barefoot and pregnant, not allowing them to work or drive, etc.). And Islamist extremists don’t tolerate “American” or secular beliefs, and in fact will exterminate them whenever possible.

Unless something changes, there is only one way this scenario can play out.

Radical Islamists and Intolerant, hypocritical, politically-correct , brutal statist thugs will always win unless people who believe in real freedom are willing- always and forever- to be called every nasty name in the book,  to be shouted down and to be harassed and even jailed or killed.

To sacrifice their lives, fortune and sacred honor.

To begin the world anew. Once more.

North Korea: Releasing Film an "Act of War"

SEOUL, South Korea-

Thursday, June 26

North Korea has warned the U.S. government that the release of a new American comedy about a plot to assassinate leader Kim Jong Un would be an “act of war that we will never tolerate”. An unidentified spokesman for North Korea’s Foreign Ministry averred in state media  Wednesday that if the U.S. government doesn’t block the movie’s release, it will face “stern” and (my favorite) “merciless” retaliation.

The movie ‘triggering’ these threats was thought to be “The Interview” starring Seth Rogen and James Franco as a producer and a talk -show host who land an exclusive interview with the North Korean dictator and are then asked by the CIA to assassinate him.

The spokesman went on to say  that the “reckless U.S. provocative insanity” of utilizing a “gangster filmmaker” to challenge the North’s leadership is responsible for “a gust of hatred and rage”  among the North’s people and army.

SEOUL, South Korea-

Friday, June 27

North Korea fired three short-range ‘projectiles’ off its east coast Thursday, just one day after it warned of retaliation against an American comedy film (involving a plot to kill North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un). These ‘projectiles’  flew approximately 120 miles before landing in the ocean between North Korea and Japan.

I hope an Obama administration ‘spokesman’ or ‘spokeswoman’ doesn’t claim that “this was an obvious and understandable reaction to this insensitive, rogue film”. (Since this was a Hollywood film I think we’re safe in that regard).

It has become commonplace now for  terrorists  to threaten to kill people and blow things up every time an American-made film comes out that doesn’t portray them in a positive, flattering manner.

Leave it to Kim Jong Un to call a film-release an act of war”! Someone’s not getting enough attention!

Men,  corporate types, rich people, and Christians -among others- routinely get mocked in movies, television shows and the ‘culture’ in general. In some cases they are even portrayed as evil. Or intolerant! Yet they rarely even defend themselves.

Even our liberal friends-to my knowledge- haven’t threatened to blow anything up or harm anyone with the pending release of ‘Atlas Shrugged 3’.

In fact, sometimes old white guys make fun of themselves. How many times have you seen one wearing an “Old Fart” cap?

I’m guessing Kim Jong Un doesn’t own one.
